QUOTE(Fenway @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) I had occasion to work at the Harvard/Yale game Saturday which was produced by WGN for their Boston and New York WB stations. Play by Play was done by Charlie Steiner and was able to talk to him for a few minutes. His contract with the Dodgers allows him to leave if a #1 slot opens up and he said his agent has been talking to Infinity about both the White Sox and Mets radio jobs. He talked about how working with Scully is "weird", as Vin works in his own private booth with not even an engineer with him. He also confirmed that Infinity really wants Mike North involved in some way as they feel it will increase ratings for the morning show on WSCR. If North hosts pre or post I'm going to call in all the time and tell him to resign from his spot.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) Ring day should always be opening day. Those guys have to wait until the season starts, why make them wait another day. I have never heard of this before. Instead of having 40,000 opening day followed by 20,000 the next day, we'll now have 40K two straight days. Smart move by the Sox IMO.

Since PA banned Beatles from discussion, we can't really talk about the greatest songs of all time in this thread.

Definitely not one of the best ever, but one of the best songs I've heard in the past year or so is 100 years by Five for Fighting. Good lyrics, good music, I could never get tired of hearing this song and I don't even really like Five for Fighting. Makes you appreciate what it felt like being younger and care free (and I talk like I am that old)

QUOTE(Yoda @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) November 18-20 1.) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire $101,425,000 2.) Walk the Line $22,400,000 3.) Chicken Little $14,769,000 4.) Derailed $6,526,000 5.) Zathura $5,100,000 Pre-teen wizards conjured up amazing box office magic as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the fourth film in the wildly popular fantasy series, exploded in its opening weekend generating the largest debut ever for the franchise. The Johnny Cash film Walk the Line also enjoyed a solid launch while most holdovers in the top ten suffered heavy declines with most tumbling by more than 50% each. Overall, the marketplace delivered the second biggest weekend of the year behind only the Memorial Day holiday frame. Isn't this next weekend coming up the biggest of the year?

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) Yessir. lol, who was the coach then, who is the coach now? It's pretty hypocritical to argue the present and then put up a picture of banners in Assembly Hall. You are sometimes impossible to talk about IU with, so I'll just leave this at that. Get back to me at the end of the season. Later dude. -

From what I read about the game, looks like just about every player had cramps. For what reason, I don't know. Perhaps it was pretty damn hot over there. Who knows for sure. I remember last year UNC got a pretty nice beating at the hands of Santa Clara early on, so I won't panic over a loss just yet. Katz wrote a nice article about the whole situation on ESPN.com that was a pretty good read, even looks like Hawaii will be a tourney team this year. Not saying that they should have gotten a beatdown, but I won't panic over one game. Now if they lay an egg in the Maui Invitational, I'll start to worry. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) I don't know if East Lansing's going to be a true test, being that they can't even beat the likes of Hawaii. When IU makes the tourney again, let me know. -
QUOTE(JimH @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) Alex if you figure out the Cingular situation can you post here. Just got a new Cingular phone and would love a White Sox themed ringtone. Appreciate it. What phone did you get?

www.mlb4u.com is the best for payroll figures.

WOW, you people are wild on Josh Beckett. This past season is the only time he's ever won 10 games. He is a walking blister. This is a chronic problem. The 2003 World Series has come and gone. He's never even thrown 200 innings. I just don't get it. Of course you do the deal if you are Florida and cutting payroll. Willis is your horse, not Beckett. Lowell is way overpriced. I mean I'm not too hot on Blalock, but this deal isn't as bad as you make it out to be. If Beckett ever reaches 200+ innings in a year I'd be shocked.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) Lastly, a quote from Nicholls State's head coach Why do we need a quote from Nicholls State's coach. It's Nicholls State. First off, he's not better than Scott May. May scored 26 in the national title game on the last team to go undefeated in college basketball. Killingsworth will be lucky if he ever plays in a Final Four, considering this is his last chance. He might be pretty good, who knows, I haven't seen him that much. I just wouldn't go wild over him after one game against Nicholls State. And if he was All-Sec or whatever at Auburn, that doesn't matter much to me given SEC's tendency to get beat like a drum the past few years in the NCAA tournament. Most overrated conference year in and year out in the land. Only team that consistently ever does anything in the tourney is Kentucky and they even had their embarassing moments (UAB two years ago). I'm gonna get a little wager going with greasy on whether or not he can outperform Davis when they play MSU. I'll take Davis over him as of right now as the best big man in the B10. Also I have Augustine second as of right now. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) I'm assuming ESPN will be televising all of the games? I sure hope so. UK is way overrated. Hopefully they get exposed. -

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 02:18 AM) What a guy! Haha, I know, I know. Hold your aplause. In all honesty, I'd wait until the day of the event and try to get tickets off someone who got the weekend package. I wish I could spare a few tickets to fellow Soxtalkers, but as of right now it looks like all my tickets are being used as Jason is bringing his pet chimp as a special guest this year. It will be the first Fest for Bubbles.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) Hoosiers win opener easily....... Killingsworth shows he is a dominant player. Look out Big Ten, the kid can flat out play. Killingsworth's line: 28 pts, 13 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 blocks and 2 steals Hoosiers Trounce Nicholls State Again, Nicholls State. Let's see what happens in East Lansing and at Champaign before we call him the second coming of Scott May. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) The White Sox will play a pair of exhibition games at Atlanta's Turner Field on Friday, March 31 (7:05 p.m. ET) and Saturday, April 1 (1:05 p.m. ET). Old news, I posted this weeks ago. Get on top of things!
