QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) Mini 4.9, updated every time I plugged it in 512 RAM Compaq with XP home USB 2.0 Also, as Heads asked, do you have the latest firmware for the ipod installed on the device?

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) If that's the case, then there are a ton of users having this error, because there is a section of Apple's support page dedicated to the exact error I'm having. Hray for you and your perfect year, but the one I have is awful. Which one do you have, the mini or the shuffle? Which version of iTunes are you using? What kind of computer are you using, RAM, Processor speed? How are you connecting your ipod to your computer, via USB, USB 2.0 or Firewire?

This is a perfect example of what you'd call user error. I've been using my ipod for over a year now with no problem as are millions of others.

QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Good news! I contacted petitiononline and they gave me admin powers to the petition. The result: I deleted all the garbage by the trolls! W00t! Thank you very much for that.

QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) I should have included in the statement on it that "The other purpose for this petition is to just plain let you know how much we appreciate how awesome you were for us these years." I'm a dunce. I want John to get this petition somehow, and I think my best bet would be giving it to Brooks and then asking Brooks if he can forward it to John. Maybe I'll copy the html and get rid of G-man's mean comments as well by just making a new web page. Hey aboz, can you put the link to the petition in the first post of this thread? Will do.

QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) I also think it's pretty cool if you go to www.petitiononline.com we're in the top 10 active petitions. That's awesome, hopefully someone lets Roons know we truly care this much about him staying with the Sox.

QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) I heard differently, that it was a small increase but not what Rooney wanted for a 5 year commitment. And that's what led him to consider other options. Whatever the case may be, although I am pretty confident in what I know about this whole story, the offer was obviously a slap in the face. He's been with the club 18 years. He is, in my view, the best radio pbp guy in the business and the USA Today poll reflected that as well. Whether it was a pay cut, a small raise, whatever the case may be, he did not want to leave the White Sox. Like anyone else in business, if you are not paid fair market value, you are forced to look at other options. It is unfortunate that the new home of the the Sox, "The Score", is too cheap to realize this. Their White Sox radio contract just because a whole lot less valuable without John Rooney. The replacement they get can only hope to one day achieve the level of his greatness on the air, which I never see happening.

QUOTE(quickman @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) I guess I look at this a different way. THe score was going to provide him a modest increase, he has the right to refuse it and go on. Its the american way. Thats the way the business world works. You could be mad at Rooney for not accepting the deal. He is getting a raise.ITs his choice, not the scores. I think many of you if will find out this is the way the world works if you have not done so already. By the way I have worked for the same company for 15 years. They owe me nothing if they cut me tommorrow for any reason. He wasn't getting an increase, he was going to be taking a paycut from what I understand.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) AOL sometimes has issues with this site. We don't know what it is. I know the issue. It's called having AOL. Everyone who has it, has issues. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) Incorrect. The Score holds the cards. Boz... interesting turn, eh? Two words for you: Low Balled. Enough said. I will never let the Score off the hook for this. Folks, don't let anyone tell you that this was John Rooney wanting to leave the White Sox. Ultimately, JR should have stepped in to get a deal done somehow. Now my choices for next season will be: 1) Watch the games muted. 2) Hope they find a good person to go with Farmio (who I love as much as Roons). And to think, a total joke of an announcer like Darrin Jackson gets a nice salary and they let the best PBP man in baseball leave? Bulls***. No need for a petition, this is done and over. I'll be coming out throwing fireballs at Soxfest. I hope most of you are right there behind me.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) Im tired of that son of a b**** running his f***ing mouth all the time. Its always the white mans fault for everything. Its always Bush's fault. You listen to that piece of s*** youd think Katrina was a government conspiracy to wipe out black people in that area. If he wants to cry about something how bout directing some of that nasty rhetoric toward those f***ing savages who are roaming the streets raping women, shooting survivors, looting and shooting at relief workers. Those people need to be hunted down and executed.

BTW, there was a quote from Brooks saying that Rooney said specifically he wouldn't work for what is being offered. Obviously, they were lowballing the guy and now Brooks is trying to put that out there to lighten the bashing the Sox are going to take over this. Personally, I think you pay the man what he wants, he is a legend of White Sox broadcasting, he's been with the Sox 18 years. Don't come out with your little quotes trying to roll him through the dirt Brooks, I thought you were better than that. This is just a total botched move by the Sox altogether.

QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) I don't know why everyone's jumping to the conclusion that either the Sox didn't pony up enough money to keep him around, or they actually pushed him out. For all any of us know it was Rooney's decision to retire, or at least get away from broadcasting 162 games a year. Get your facts straight before you start talking about how the Sox made the stupidest mistake ever, and how you're going to go to Soxfest and punch management in the face. Some of us know more than you think we know. We'll leave it at that.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) Kanye West just said that President Bush doesn't care about black people on NBC's fundraiser. I think we are going to see a lot of comments along those lines in the next few days whether they are warranted or not. :rolly :rolly :rolly Kanye West is clueless.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) Rooney is the best one out of all of the annoucers....WTF can they be thinking?? That is a terrible idea. If it is Rooney's choice than that still sucks ass but best of luck to him no matter what he is doing.... I would venture to guess it was not his choice. He has been with the club 18 years, he's had chances to go to other teams and has remained loyal to the Sox. My guess is that the White Sox didn't want to pony up the cash necessary to keep him around. (Raise your hand if you're not surprised.)

QUOTE(spiderman @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) So what do you think is going to happen here ? Farmer and who in the radio booth ? Stone and Hawk on TV ? I'd love that, but I'd be shocked. It'll be Dave Wills IMO with Farmer. Hopefully they keep Dolgin on the pregame, but I don't see that happening either.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) Ya, we all believe you after you promised us you were going to go off about Reed last year. :rolly I'm just joking by the way, boz. You've got my word that serious questions into this will be posed by yours truly. I brushed the Reed stuff behind due to the fact that we got AJP, Hermanson and others last offseason. Had we not, I probably would have asked about it.
-
Huge mistake by the Sox. Best radio play by play man in the business and they are letting him go? My hunch is that this has to be a money issue and the Sox aren't going to pony up the cash (as usual) to keep him. This really is a travesty.
