  1. Ozzie shouldn't be canned. Sorry Steff, that's completely ludicrous.
  2. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) Frank has one of the best eyes in baseball. I'll take him, if he's healthy. The biggest IF in the world.
  3. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) Konerko, who is far from a help in the field? just because he plays there doesn't mean he's any good at it He sure looked helpful the other day in the 9th when he bailed out the Sox. Don't get me wrong, I like Frank just fine, he's still on a decline though and can't be relied on as long as his foot is still hurting.
  4. When Frank Thomas actually steps into uniform for the Sox this season and proves he is healthy, then talk about how great he is. Until then, he's not the best player on the Sox. He's not even a part of the active roster and we are 8-4.
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) What does that matter? The DH is there for a reason... Are you saying that a player should hurt his teams overall chances of winning a baseball game by putting them out into the field? He is not 10 times the player of anyone on the team if his only contribution to the team is at the plate. Had he been a solid fielder his whole career, there wouldn't even be a debate as to whether or not he belongs in the hall of fame. This is why you see and will continue to see few DH players in the Hall of Fame. Sorry to burst your bubble, but in his current state, Frank Thomas is not 10 times the player of several guys on the Sox roster. Hell he's not even the best player.
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) And he's still ten times the player of anyone on this team. The guy can't even play the field, so how can he be ten times the player of anyone on the team? :headshake
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Anyone have an over/under of how long it takes him to end up back in a White Sox booth, and who he will replace? -Rooney was supposedly interested in a St Louis job a few years ago, but wasn't allowed to interview. -Hawk is no spring chicken anymore. -DJ could be replaced anytime and it would suprise no one. I expect both Rooney and Farmer to re-up with the Sox after the season.
  8. Without reading through the whole thread, my brief thoughts. 1) Guillen, while he may be voicing how he really feels, needs to keep this stuff in house. 2) I agree that Frank isn't a shoo-in to play everyday when he returns. If Everett keeps playing productively and leading the team like he has to this point, they'll need a spot for him to play regularly and it won't be in the OF on an everyday basis based on his range. 3) I don't know about his clubhouse demeanor, but I never knew Frank Thomas as having a bad attitude. Perhaps he was misunderstood by the masses, but generally, he's been a good guy for the most part. Behind the doors, he may have cause some problems though, who knows. 4) I wouldn't go overboard on ripping Ozzie to shreds over this, I doubt it will have a lasting effect on the Sox clubhouse. Generally he is liked very well by most of the club. And to add to this, sometimes quotes are taking as being more abrasive sounding than they really were. I'd like to hear audio on these quotes before passing complete judgement.
  9. It was an interesting piece, but Fischer is off the deep end for me to even tolerate. He was a complete ass to Jeremy Schaap.
  10. I'd email Brooks with your feedback.
  11. Crede is 0 for 2, just waiting for another thread to start up any minute now.
  12. 10 in a row retired for Freddy. The scary part for opposing hitters is that he doesn't even have his good stuff today. Like I said early in the thread, this is a guy that gets better as the game goes on most of the time. Let's hope it holds true today.
  13. Garcia is scaring the piss out of me with these pitches. He definitely thought that one was gone. Sometimes that curve just hangs out over the middle of the plate and has huge potential to be crushed.
  14. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) Frank Thomas in attendance today. Hawk said he looked great with a big ol' smile on his face. Good to hear! Keep up the woodwork boys! He should be heading to Charlotte soon after he gets evaluated.
  15. Dye needs to get in some extra BP, he's not looking very sharp at this point.
  16. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) Meche is way too concerned with Tad. And it led to the bomb.
  17. so much for Small ball. 3-2 Sox lead. YES!!!!!!!!!!!1
  18. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Minny already lost today so if we win we're back in 1st by ourselves again. I don't even look at the standings until Memorial Day.
  19. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Thats why we f***ing bunt...yippe Exactly, he should have bunted.
  20. QUOTE(Reddy @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) dj just compared Uribe to a lizard running down the beach... dj's so freaking weird Precisely why I've got the TV muted and have XM on.
  21. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) c'mon Juan, double to the wall you called it.
