  1. Utah one of the worst shooting teams I've seen, especially at the foul line. It's really a wonder to me how they've gotten this far. If Kentucky played worth a s***, they'd be beating them by 25.
  2. So much for all of those saying the Big 10 wasn't any good this year.
  3. Sorry Butter, told ya Duke wasn't going to beat us again. Williams and Redick no factor against a solid D.
  4. SEE YA DUKE, I called it here..... And to all the Paul Davis haters... :fyou
  5. QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) Isn't the most Buehrle's ever made in one year for the Sox $3.5 million? Until this year, Yes.
  6. Hmm, so that means I see Lee Vs. Contreras when I go. Could be a high scoring game.
  7. Here is what is between Louisville and St Louis.... A guy named Pittsnogle....
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) I think the winner of Louisville and zona/illinois wins it all, jmo. Could be, the big factor will be the health of Taquan Dean. If he is alright, Louisville can beat anyone.
  9. Washington the worst No. 1 Seed ever. They got owned by the Ville. It's going to be interesting if U of L and Illinois meet.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) 8 weeks along, everything is looking good. Baby is 1.43 cms and heartbeat is 158 bpm Is that a keyboard I see him/her typing on? Looks like the web browser is already pointed to Soxtalk. That's great Mike!
  11. Baseball Prospectus is usually a very good publication. I read some of their preview this year for the Sox in their handbook and came away very disappointed. The Sox are just going to have to prove people wrong this year.

    censorship

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) In that respect the Admins & Mods of SOXTALK represent the State & I support their right to regulate speech here as they see fit. I think they do a fair job at it but I do have one recommendation: instead of removing a thread create an offensive forum. This would be the bit bucket for anything you feel is to offensive for the common good of the forum. That will never happen, sorry. The reason there are rules is so that people follow them. If you don't, you end up banned/suspended or edited. Making a separate, free-for-all forum similar to what you speak of would be a bad idea for the image of the site. Remember there are people who read the site from inside the White Sox organization and intelligent people who like to have intelligent conversation rather than sift through a bunch of garbage, similar to what was posted by the starter of this thread which I had to edit. There are plenty of forums on the internet to which you can go argue with people, attack them and post porn. This won't be one of them.

    censorship

QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) censorship on the internet??? i don't get it... second time in a week a thread of mine was erased... after MB's scare on monday I started a thread titled 2006... it was and still is my opinion that if mark goes down the sox will finish at best third place.. but, instead of people addressing my opinion, albeit an overreaction because the situation wasn't fully known, my opinion is deleted.... ????? then I post a topic about a "festival" in the Ozarks with a link, I guess I should have warned about the link, but the forum I posted it in already warns readers.. "Tired of talking baseball? Not in the mood to hear about the Bears losing another game? Then come in here to talk about whatever the heck you want. From politics to carpet samples, this is the place for your non-sporting needs. But be sure to bring your thick skin" but your skin doesn't have to be that thick cause the aboz will censor it for you... if I am wrong mea culpa. but is censorship the way to go ???? You posted a link with a website that had XXX in the title of the site. What do you think is going to happen? Use common sense and maybe you wouldn't have to be edited. If you want to post porn, go elsewhere.
  14. No opening day for me, I'll be there April 7th though just for the game then coming back home the same day. Hope everyone has a blast at opening day.
  15. QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) How one can deal with change often gives a good indication of their character. Those who can withstand adversity and difficult situations through change are those who will be successful through their element of change. It always helps to have mini-goals throughout the way just to help ease yourself into your new position. May I ask, how different is your new position? The main thing is now I am over a whole department in the biggest volume store in the entire district. It's one of the 10 biggest Staples stores in the entire country. So somewhat stressful in terms of sales pressure. Also have two guys that I am over who are in their 50's and are pretty set in their ways, which is going to take some getting used to. I think it'll be hard for them to take directions from a 22 year old.

You posted a link to a site with nudity, that is why. Check your pm, as I sent you a response as to why exactly it was removed. Thank you.
  17. QUOTE(winodj @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) Change is never easy, even when its for the best. I'm in a situation where most major things in my life are in flux at the moment - car, apartment, job. Although it all seems to be for the better, the amount of stress and worry it creates definitely has a depressing effect. Just do your damn best to stay positive and hopefully things will make themselves better. What's stressing you out about the new spot at work? Bad situation? I just moved to another store in a higher position, which I was happy about. I guess being out of my comfort zone and not really knowing anyone is the main thing that is doing it. Everything else in my life has remained the same, so I should be happy about that. Thanks for your positive words winodj and I hope things continue to get better for you.
  18. This is not centered on anything specific, although I did just recently change jobs, but I have often found it is hard for me to endure change without thinking negatively about it or overanalyzing things or if I made the right decision. In other words, I second guess myself quite often after a substantial change to something in my life. For those of you out there who are wiser than myself, I'd like your two cents and perhaps some ideas to endure change easier. It's a part of all of our lives and everyone has to go through it. This should make for some interesting discussion, feedback and ideas. Thanks in advance.
  19. QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) Alex, for the record, you know quite a bit about baseball. Next, on this Reds thing ... they are scouting Borchard for sure. Don't ask me why they're scouting Borchard, but they are. If the Reds are scouting Garland, fine, but the Sox will want some sort of pitching in return. They are finally set up 1-5 and despite the emergence of McCarthy they are smart enough to know someone may miss a few starts along the way. KW wants this team built on deep pitching. I cannot see Garland moved for only a position player. Willy Mo Pena ... he may be ready to break out. quickman likes him, and has seen him play quite a bit. Although it pains me internally to do so I will go with his judgement. It's not that the Sox definitely need him, but maybe they feel they want to upgrade. That said, I cannot see the Sox trading for him. Think of what the Sox need ... a backup plan at 3B and yes, they are always interested in pitching. By the way, do the Reds need a catcher? I suspect they do. If the Sox were to trade Garland to the Reds, which I don't see happening in the least bit, it would have to be for a minimum of Edwin Encarnacion, an everyday major league player and a low level prospect. Anything besides that to me would be a bad trade just because Garland is a solid guy who will give you 200 innings relatively cheap and will be a great No. 5 for our club. On the Reds, he'd be right up there at the top of the rotation ahead of Paul Wilson and Eric Milton IMO. In regards to Pena, I get the sense that the Reds will move either him or Kearns if all four outfielders are healthy. I am still not sold on Pena being a solid guy for the long haul, but that's just me. However I do see a lot of the Reds AAA team, so I consider myself to be educated on the upper level of their system. Whichever player yields more talent in return is the guy they move. Griffey will probably out for the year by May though making this a moot point. Good post Jim, always enjoy reading your opinion.
  20. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) I don't understand some of you guys. We have the ultimate offensive black hole of Joe Crede at 3rd base and you want ANOTHER outfielder over a 3rd baseman? Freel could be a disgusting #2 hitter behind Podsednik and we could have great speed at 5 positions in our lineup. I wouldn't give up Garland in a deal to get Freel, which is what this whole discussion was based on given Garland's name was mentioned right off the bat. Freel was on the Bats here in Louisville for a while and he was mostly thought of as a career minor leaguer as he is already 29. Perhaps he did break through but I wouldn't be surprised to see him take a substantial drop off this year. I don't view him as a better situation for us at 3B than Crede, but hey, what do I know.
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) Please Aboz... check out the 8 years previous to when he is accused of using.. he was feared then, and well on his way to the HOF. I'm just saying that his ego drives him and if he thinks he can no longer perform up to "Bonds" standards, he may choose to never play again rather than go out struggling. I never said he wouldn't be a hall of famer.
