  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 12, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) Definitely 10-20. FWIW, everyone here can get 10 bucks off of any tickets in April/May if you order between now and February 18th via Ticketmaster.com/whitesox.com. They have a cool thing now, a family/friends discount, just gotta get ahold of one of the passwords from a season ticket holder. Best seats in the UD for ten bucks, not a bad deal at all. You can buy them from the lower deck, too, so it's a really good deal. Just a heads up. So how exactly do you redeem that deal, I'm definitely interested in doing that.
  2. I'm shooting for 6-9, which will be good considering I am five hours away. I made it to 8 last year, plus 5 out in Tucson.
  3. While my league is substantially more complicated than what I will explain here, I'd just like to get opinions on whether I am getting good values on who I am keeping. Therefore, I am keeping it simple. Here is the gist of things, $275 dollar cap, 5 x 5 league, there are 12 teams. You must retain 6 to 10 of your players from the previous season. Positions are as follows: C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, Middle Infield, Corner Infield, 5 OF spots, 2 Utility Spots 5 Starting Pitchers, 3 Relief Pitchers, 2 Pitchers (Relief or Starting) In total, you have 25 Roster Spots plus 2 minor leaguers, which are irrelevant to this discussion. So what I am going to list is the list of 9 players I have compiled that I am most likely going to keep along with their dollar values. Randy Johnson $39 - I figure I have to keep, especially since he's a Yankee Jason Schmidt $26 - No brainer here, especially if healthy all year Mark Buehrle $15 - I am on the fence on this, but decent value Freddy Garcia $9 - Again, the Cell scares me, but worth the risk (I think) Zack Greinke $5 - Good value as a 5th guy in my rotation AJ Pierzynski $1 - No brainer Paul Konerko $7 - Again, have to keep at this price Hideki Matsui $16 - On the fence Jim Edmonds $16 - Good value, health is a concern as he grows older So basically, just anyone with good fantasy knowledge, your two cents please. I am trying more or less to decide if these guys are good keepers at these dollar values. The main ones I am concerned with are Randy (although I am certain he will go higher in the auction if I let him go), Buehrle (can he repeat his high K totals), Garcia and Matsui. Any further comments are welcome as well.
  4. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) Buerhle spoke lovingly about the Cardinals and Frank has spoken about being mistreated and the club not showing respect. The Club alllowed an All-Star player to leave with zero to show for it. You would think the guy single handed stopped the team from a World Series. Geez, he got a better deal somewhere else and took it. No one is calling Hermanson a greedy sob for turning down his last offer and becoming a free agent. Give the guy a break. All I will say is that the Sox offered him a more than fair, adequate, set for life deal in the middle of last year, when he was still healthy. HE was the one who came out saying he wanted to stay. The deal was on the table. He flirted with the deal and didn't take it. Had he never came out and stated his love for the "city of chicago" and that he "wants to stay" he probably wouldn't be getting ripped like he is. I don't see what's hard to understand about why he's getting buried (one of his favorite words to use towards KW). He will be remembered by 75-80% of Sox fans as a guy who took the money and ran.
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) 2 things.. 1. Neither Frank or Mark have had a reason to do something like this yet so I don't know if it's fair to compare.. and 2. Finally Kenny learned to keep the trap closed. Took him long enough. Thomas has b****ed to the media, but not to the point where he ever said the Sox were burying him. I have been one of his biggest critics for his b****ing over his contract. Buehrle, if/when he leaves, will do it with dignity and class. Most people figure he will most likely go to St. Louis after 2007. And it probably won't be under the same circumstances that Ordonez left, so it probably wouldn't be fair to compare.
  6. You'd better believe I'm going to boo.
  7. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) We talking about Buerhle, Frank, or Maggs? Beastly said he "did a lot for us" and I'm stating that we never got anywhere with Ordonez. We've never gotten anywhere with Buehrle or Frank either, but at least they are class guys who don't take their cheap shots through the media like Jagglio is doing. He knows damn well that KW didn't bury him, so he should keep his mouth shut. Look at the quotes in the paper, Maggs has run his mouth while KW has handled this situation with class like a professional.
  8. Nice try.....Get ready to get booed, jackass.
  9. QUOTE(Beastly @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) I'm not going to turn on him though, that guy did great things for us when he was in Chicago. Like take us far in the playoffs...oh nevermind we never got anywhere.
  10. If I would have said a year ago that Magglio Ordonez would be more hated than Kenny Williams, everyone would have laughed. But it looks like its the case. I am considering coming to that Detroit series just so I can boo the whole game.
  11. To one of the best posters on the site, have a great one! Even though you're an Illinois fan :
  12. QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) Even if he does put up those numbers, it is no bargain. He can't be as speedy as he once was. And wasn't ever the most clutch player the Sox had. He popped out just as many times as Lee with runners on trying to hit the home run. He is a substantially better player than Lee, though. Lee's and 8 million dollar player. Maggs, 10. Maggs at 15 million is not a bargain at all. Five tool players are worth 15 million. Maggs is not a five tool player. My sentiments exactly, he wasn't even worth what the Sox offered him. Detroit just got fleeced, big time. Someone make a list of all the guys who've hit 30 homers playing at Comerica Park. There can't be many.
  13. Get the Extra Innings package, its available through DirecTV and most digital cable providers.

    XM Users

Alright, it's getting time for the season to start and I'm seriously considering investing in an XM receiver. I've done a pretty good deal of research on a lot of the systems that are available, but I'd like to get the lowdown on which one I should get from anyone who uses XM already. Hopefully I can get some good advice from this thread which will make the selection process a little less complicated. Thanks.

    Ipod scratch remover?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) I prefer the Nomad Zen Xtra over the Ipod. I got a 40 GB, and it cost way less than the Ipod, hell it works for me. Too heavy for me, I prefer my 40 gig 4th generation ipod.

    Napolean Dynamite

This is possibly the worst movie I've ever seen (plot wise), it has no point, but that is what makes it hilarious. It's not quite as funny as people say it is, but it does have some funny lines. My favorite that I don't think has been mentioned here is: "I'm starting to get a little TO'ed because she hasn't sent me a full body shot." If you like humor, you have to see this, but don't expect it to be a good "movie" in the traditional sense.

  18. Anderson will be up at the end of the year as a September call-up, provided he has another solid season. I'd then expect him to get a shot at making the club next year. Possibly Dye would move to DH and Everett would be gone as well as Frank, who I don't think will be back. Sweeney I'd say would not reach the majors until 2006 or 2007. I don't see either one of these guys being used as bait for a midseason deal, but if either one was, Sweeney would be a better chip because of his age and raw ability.
  19. I think IU will be pretty good next year, if Wright stays, regardless of their coach. They'll have a beast in Killingsworth coming in to join DJ White down low. Vaden is coming along very well. And of course, the key ingredient is Bracey, which I think he will stay. And they have a good recruiting class again and Monroe (Auburn transfer) who will help at the guard position with Hardy, Ratliff and Strickland. They may not be better than Illinois, which I wasn't expecting, but I think they will be back to one of the top 3 teams in the Big 10.
  20. I think the key will be the guard play for Michigan State. They've got a pleathora of guys who can play on the perimeter, but will they come up big against one of the nation's best backcourts in Williams and Brown.
  21. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) It shouldn't be 3 points either way i don't think. #10 team at home...where we have been owned...i don't think we should be favored by 3. Money would definitely flow towards MSU if that were the case. I will say this, for Anderson, Torbert and Hill, this is one of their last chances to show they can win a big game. Since we lost Bell, Cleaves, J Rich, Hudson and Mo Pete, these were the guys who were supposed to carry Michigan St. Izzo has ripped them for not being able to win a big game (see the Wisconsin game they blew a few weeks ago), despite them getting to the Elite 8 two years ago when no one thought they would go anywhere. If they fail to come up big at all this year again, many Spartan faithful will be looking forward to Ager, Brown and Davis leading the way.
  22. The betting line from Jim Feist is as follows: Feist has Illinois favored by 1. The Book actually has Michigan St favorted by 1.5. Interesting, although I don't see how Illinois wouldn't be favored at least by 3 or so. Guess this means more of the money is moving towards Michigan St, at least right now. 23. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) Soon to be broke He backed down when I wanted to bet him with those odds.
  24. Latest odds I've seen have Illinois favored by 1 tomorrow. Wonder where Man of Steel is with his "I'll give you 16" comments now. Can't wait til tomorrow, should be a great game, ESPN even said it may be the biggest game of the year to this point.
  25. Welcome aboard, we are thrilled to have ya
