  1. I am not sure Michael Young can handle shortstop, but yes that would look good.
  2. I dunno, Blalock and Teixiera are both great hitters. I think they'll keep his speed at the top.
  3. Not that they will finish above 4th until they get some pitching, but I like the lineup in Texas for the future: CF Soriano 2B Young 3B Blalock 1B Teixiera RF Jordan DH Fullmer LF Dellucci SS (whoever they get to fill this spot) C Diaz
  4. Jose Contreras is far from a proven commodity. What did he do last year besides hog space on the DL for most of the year. He put up decent numbers, but nothing like the numbers a player getting a 4yr/32 million dollar contract should put up. Why do you think teams are so skeptical of signing Maels Rodriguez this offseason? The fact is that many pitchers that come from Cuba have less than spectacular and often disappointing careers. I think Contreras is a great talent, but he is far from a lock to 1) stay healthy all season and 2) perform at a high level all season.
  5. I agree with you, they have the talent to win 115 games, but talent doesn't guarantee anything. An injury here or there or a bad year by a pitcher or two and they could easily not even win their division.
  6. Pretty much he is going to insert any lefthanded pitcher into his rumors. There's no way Mark will be out of Chicago this season. I view him, Marte and Lee as the untouchables on this team for this season. Minor league wise I'd go with Honel and Reed as the only untouchables along with possibly Sweeney and Anderson.
  7. Had Boone remained healthy I would have taken him and Soriano over Cairo and A Rod, but who cares at this point?
  8. I cannot believe Cuthbert is only 21, her best years are still ahead...
  9. Correct you are Steff... I'll have another pic up soon but since I am sick I am not going to go looking for one right now...
  10. What can I say, silly me, silly me... Someone should whip me into shape for not realizing that.
  11. Well now that you have explained it Miss Steff, I am seeing it in an all new clarity. Thank you miss Doable one...
  12. I still don't get where you are getting the idea that the other teams "were blessed" to deal with the Yankees, doesn't make much sense to me, but perhaps I am overlooking something.
  13. I can see us swinging a deal to acquire Royce Clayton for a backup infielder role...
  14. It's called being bailed out in a situation where you owe a player under contract millions of dollars. I don't think there's anything else to it than that. Now we would all call it an act with no pride, but then again, none of us have ever had to pay Jeff Weaver 7 million dollars to get knocked around.
  15. I guess they could always do the low tier prospects and cash deal. Teams in need of money would do that. Hell, if they draft some decent college players in this year's draft they could trade those guys come trading deadline time.
  16. Since it's not opening day, it's hard to tell at this point.
  17. Thank you. I believe he's the same guy who is supposed to be one of the Royals best pitchers this season and the fact that I didn't remember him pretty much says it all about how good he was and is going to be this year. Thank you for pointing that out. In that series, he pitched game 3 and lost.
  18. They won't if the Angels are in contention. Maybe they end up with Odalis Perez, but Anaheim won't be in the business of trading Washburn to the Yankees if they are going to be facing them in the playoffs. Just won't happen, especially with Anaheim's new ownership. I think Gammons mentioned the possibility of this happening on SC and he's dead wrong.
  19. Here's a question for everyone... If George doesn't win this year with A Rod, what does he do next? Sign Pedro after this season and some others?
  20. They need a lefthanded starter IMO. To me, every great team needs one. You saw one with Washburn on the Angels a few years back. Redman for FL last year and Pettitte in the past for the Yankees. Without a lefty, I don't think they'll win it. Of course AZ a few years back didn't have a lefty (correct me if I'm wrong) but they had two powerful aces in Schill and Randy. The Yankees this year don't have that.
  21. I am still not sold on their rotation, but I am sure they will go out and get someone after they get bombed a few times early in the season.
  22. I don't know what grounds he can actually stop it on if the union has agreed to it, that was the hold up with the A Rod to Boston trade. No way he steps in here.
  23. Hopefully Mark pitches against A Rod in that Yankees series, Pay Rod is only 1 for 11 lifetime off Mark. However, he's 12 for 23 lifetime versus Esty with 5 homers and 10 RBI.
