QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) Yes.. thank God. I don't like it when you freak out like that... BTW.. I have extras for Sunday if anyone is interested. I might need them, I'm only getting 2 passes with my room.
-
Confirmed, as Steff did early, number of tickets is not dependent on how many people are in the room. Spoke with the person in charge at the hotel. Burlyman56, you cost yourself extra money for the room which had nothing to do with the passes. If you book a 2 night stay, you get 4 passes. If you book 1 night, 2 passes. Has nothing to do with how many peeps are in the room. Thank god this potential nightmare is over.
-
Thanks for the clarification IWC, I'll be printing the same thing and taking it with me. Bad thing is, that's for the 2005 fest, if you look at it closer. It's got Jan 14-16 as the dates.

QUOTE(BurlyMan56 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 11:16 PM) HOTEL RATES Single Occupancy Rate Per Room: Date Rate January 27, 2006 USD 124.50 January 28, 2006 USD 124.50 Additional charges per night, add USD 0.00 for 2nd guest, add USD 12.50 for 3rd guest, add USD 12.50 for 4th guest. Hotel Tax: Rates do not include 15.4% room tax. (subject to change) I'm not sure if this is per day or per 3 day pass? I'm guessing per day. I guess the Hyatt Manager said they overbooked somehow. Not sure but this will be total chaos when people are checking in on Friday. I am calling to complain because like Aboz said they never said anything about how many guests would be in the room when he booked. So for the two extra guests per day thats 25 dollars for day. I do not believe everyone will be paying the $75 dollars extra for the weekend. All I can say is that I've got people flying in (actually all 4 are) and if there aren't somehow 4 passes available, there is going to be hell to pay. They have NEVER in the past made you specify a number of guests and have that effect the number of passes you receive. If they decide to change that without notifying people when they booked the room, then they are indeed going to have a huge problem come Friday. At least they are giving people the option to change it, even if you do have to pay more.

QUOTE(BurlyMan56 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) Aboz, I just read the confirmation email. You get two free tickets with the room and when you have 4 guests, you must pay $12.50 each for the 3rd and 4th guests staying in your room to get the tickets. This is totally different from years past and imo not fair just because of the high demand for tickets considering I booked in early september. 12.50 a day per person or per 3 day pass? Also, do you have a 1 night stay or two night.

QUOTE(BurlyMan56 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) Hey guys...I talked to my dad today and he called the Hyatt to verify that we're getting the four passes for this weekend. Well it turns out he only put three names that are staying and since we thought we had an extra ticket I was going to give it to a buddy of mine who wasn't staying. We had to put his name on the list and pay an extra $25 for him to get a ticket. This is different than years past as whoever reserved a room had 4 tickets per room. I would call the Hyatt to make sure before you have any trouble when you check in on Friday. Just thought I would give a heads up and it sucks the Hyatt are pulling this but I don't blame them based on the demand. If this is indeed the case, expect hell to be raised by many at check-in. The Sox website and Hyatt people when booking the room said 4 passes per room. It's been like that for a long, long time. I'll believe it when I see it quite frankly. Hell they didn't even ask me how many people were staying when I booked all the way back in September.

Michigan beats MSU so rarely that they feel inclined to rush the court when they win. 2 out of their last 14 now. Anyhow, they outplayed MSU and deserved to win. Davis played like s*** and Neitzel got schooled by Horton. But it's tough to win on the road in the Big 10 when the home team shoots 34 free throws and you shoot 10. -

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) First of all it is VadeN, not Vader. Sorry, that was killing me. I try to be fair and would have no problem saying Iowa beat us if I thought we played well. But I thought the game as a whole from IU was terrible. Missing Strickland hurt. Strickland being out, hurt Killingsworth, giving him one less option to pass to. I know you feel differently, but I can't give Iowa that much credit tonight. They weren't that good. If IU had anything, they would have won by 10. IU just completely laid an egg tonight, and coaching has to bear a big part of the blame in my mind. Not only was Killingsworth on the bench, but for a time so was Monroe, Vaden AND Wilmont. You just can't win without any of your top six players on the floor for an extended period of time. I agree with you. Iowa is just really tough to beat at home. IU should have won the game, but they just played terribly. It didn't help that Davis had several coaching brainfarts either, several of which you mentioned. Right now I think the Big 10 is a four team race, Michigan St, IU, ILL and Wisconsin. I'll go with one of IU, Michigan St or ILL to win it. Here are the remaining Big 10 schedules for the four contenders in my mind. I'll also list if the game IMO is favorable for a win for the team. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) Artest is basically living in LA IIRC (well at least right now). He's at most of the games and he's pretty much told everyone he'll be in LA. My guess is its just a matter of the Pacers getting antsy and doing it without Bynum. I wouldn't give up Bynum either. He's a pretty good kid and has great size and athletisism. Obviously he's a project, but he looks like a real good pick. I think you'll see Odom or something along those lines for Artest (maybe a 3rd team involved) cause I doubt the Pacers want Odom. The Lakers won't trade Odom as part of a deal for Artest. If Artest comes in and f***s around they are screwed and have no other players besides Kobe. He's either bound for LA or Golden State IMO. Golden State I think would package Pietrus and Dunleavy in a deal for Artest. I'm not sure who the Lakers would give, but I just can't see Odom being involved unless the Lakers were getting other players besides Artest back in return.

Michigan St up to #3 in the latest RPI. Woot woot. -
Deal off, I don't blame Ron for not wanting to go there. Sacramento sucks this year and they're not getting any better. As far as the Pacers getting Peja, that was a dumb move for them. He is often hurt and IMO is on the downside of his career. Too bad the Lakers won't give up Bynum, Artest could have been a Laker.

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) Friday's Q&A session starts 15 minutes after that. Decisions decisions... Since there will be other Q&A sessions throughout the weekend, I'm going for Thome. From what I understand, he is a tough autograph to begin with. They did the schedule this way for the first day to make sure they spread the initial crowd out to Thome, Konerko, Jenks and the Q & A right off the bat. Looks like I'm heading to Thome and then try for AJ and Crede at 7. Saturday morning go to Pods, then to the Q & A at 1:30 then try for Kong at 3. (Then the Garland session) Sunday, looks like it'll be McCarthy, Anderson and the Widge.

Looks like Thome is only signing on Friday, that looks to be the tough autograph of the weekend.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) how is this clown an admin? an absolute embarrassment to soxtalk this guy is. show some class for a change. Dude, the way you talk to people around here, like an arrogant know it all, has made it easy for others to make you a target. You've dug your own grave. As far as me being an embarassment to Soxtalk, let me remind you that I've been here since the second day the site opened and am one of the most likable posters on the board. Mostly anyone, besides maybe you and a few others boobs who have since been banned, would vouch for that. Perhaps when you gain a little knowledge as to how you should treat and talk to others, you will be better liked around here. Of course, you probably don't care about that, judging by the way you have chosen to exist around here up to this point. Good riddance.

Get off your Red Sox high horse and realize that you have done LITTLE, that's right, LITTLE, to improve your chances of being more than a first round exit playoff team. Have fun struggling to make the playoffs while the AL Central sends two teams to the playoffs next year. By the way, don't forget the ALDS sweep. It always feels good to talk to you about that.

How did Michigan State not move into the top 10? Let's see, they beat Ohio State in 2ot on the road then poleaxed Iowa by 30. And IU is ahead of them in one poll? I don't get it. -
QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) wow, cool, thanks for the advice man. If you do that, let me know what hotel you get.

QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:58 PM) does anyone know anything about the hotel room scene this weekend? I looked online and it looks like it would be $318 for the entire weekend, is that decent? I just went on hotwire and found a 4 star on Wacker for $66 per night. With taxes and everything, you're probably looking at $180 or so for 2 nights total. Probably one of the hotels right next to the Hyatt. It's listed as a customer favorite. Although they won't tell you the name of the hotel before you book it. Last summer I remember I got a room at the Hard Rock for the Dodgers series for real cheap through hotwire. That's a pretty damn good deal. I searched for Jan 27th-29th and then looked for Downtown Chicago area.

I believe Louisville is right now a bubble team, as their RPI is in the 80's and their season is quickly going to shambles with Taquan Dean's injury. Doesn't help that they haven't beaten anybody. -

Latest RPI: http://www.kenpom.com/rpi.php Top 10: 1 Duke 2 Memphis 3 Villanova 4 Michigan St. 5 Illinois 6 Tennessee 7 Gonzaga 8 Wisconsin 9 Connecticut 10 Pittsburgh I still have hope for a #1 seed for MSU, if they can get on a pretty good streak. -
You could almost fly cheaper on southwest (which is what im doing) than drive up from KY by the time you pay parking at the hotel and gas. I was able to fly up for $95 round-trip.
