QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) Seriously, I'm jealous. I think they have as good of fan support as any team in the country (in terms of at games). Obviously there are tons of teams with more overall fans, but Zag fans are passionate and the students are at all the games. What else do they have to do? They are in Spokane. I'm sure there are limited options there. Supposedly they started lining up for gameday last Monday. If so, these are some sick f*cks. -

As long as IU doesn't hire Alford, I'd be pretty happy with anyone else. My main picks would be Crean, Wright, the guy from WVA would be okay as well. Of course I definitely don't want anyone that would make them better than MSU, since IU is my 2nd to the beloved Spartans. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) I'm not sure why Villanova is a "stepping stone" job as it seems to be assumed in this thread....they have a great history, play in the Big East, are in a major city (Philly) and an area where they can get tons of good east coast recruits, not sure why he'd be so quick to leave. Let's see... IU = in a state where basketball is King. National championships = 5 (in case you're counting, that's the 3rd best of all-time) Villanova has one national title and it was in one of the biggest upsets ever in college basketball. Other than that, I don't know of their "great" history. Also the IU job would pay substantially more than Villanova. -

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) Aboz, give me som background on Jay Wright. I don't know much about him. I know he was at Hofstra a while ago when they made a few NCAA tourney appearances. Speedy Claxton was there when he coached there. As far as his success at Villanova, he's basically brought that program back to where it is right now. Think he's been there 4 or 5 seasons. Many people thought they should have beaten UNC last year in the tourney (don't know if you remember that game or not). He's definitely one of the hottest (if not the hottest name out there right now). I know I've heard from a couple of people that he would be at the top of IU's list if they do need a coach. Here's a bit more about him from the Villanova website: http://villanova.collegesports.com/sports/...ight_jay00.html -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) Welcome to Soxtalk. Now you know why we made the Final 4 last year. We had Chris Hill, Anderson and Torbert handling the ball in clutch situations. Not Drew Neitzel. He did absolutely nothing today. 1-8, 3 pts, 2 assists, 2 turnovers and 4 fouls. The amazing part is that he took 31 minutes to accumulate this great stat line. And some guy named Boone scored 10 pts on him, including two threes, 4 assists and yes, he blocked Neitzel's shot twice. Neitzel, you suck. -

Hello, My name is Drew Neitzel. If I was 10% the point guard that Mateen Cleaves was, my team could win the Big 10. Since I am not, we constantly get beat by teams that shouldn't beat us. Now excuse me while I let some P.O.S. named Boone beat my ass all day. That is all. -

f***ing thug ass Minnesota taking cheap shots all over the place. Hightower has to call everyone in to get this thing back into order. Grier and Gray got T'ed up. Puchtel or whatever his name is needs to get laid out. They've played their best and are still only up 2 at home. Let's go State, beat these bastages. They've made it personal. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 01:47 PM) What a great team. They'll be good again next year, but this year, they were rated based entirely on last year's performance. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) I understand that and I agree but Nova is in much better shape then IU for atleast the next few years. Nova has good incoming talent and has some staying(especially if sumpter red shirts) if I was Wright I'd stay. Obviously, the money situation will have something to say about that though. I think he'd look at it as, Am I happy being here for the rest of my career or do I want a job that coaches dream of having? I think, despite their recent struggles, IU is a job that coaches aspire to, based on their tradition and how much basketball means to the state of Indiana. They are going to do all they can to get the right person for the job. And they sure as hell better not get Alford or they'll be doing the same thing in 3 or 4 more years. First names that come to mind for me for the IU job are Wright and Tom Crean. -

Louisville down 1 with 3:43 at home to South Florida. Oh how priceless this would be. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) No doubt about it. But a nice road loss to Minnesota can change all that. GO GOPHERS It's going to be on ESPNU, I can't wait. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) I don't think White would transfer...he'd have to give up a year of eligibilty, and after this year's injury, he probably needs that year to prove to the NBA that he can stay healthy and still play. Who knows, he has said Davis is the reason he came to IU, but maybe he'd stay. He'd be dumb to sit out two years straight IMO. Then again, a lot of people do think he'll leave if Davis is gone. -

In other Big 10 news, my Spartans look like a solid bet in the conference right now. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 01:39 PM) If I'm him, I stay right where I am. IU is a much better job than Villanova. It definitely pays a lot more and its a more storied program. A good coach could have them a top 10 team every year. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 01:35 PM) Well, that would explain his "Flu" today. I just hope they don't just automatically name one of his assistant coaches as his replacement. Best name I've heard. Jay Wright. Hopefully for IU fans, that will happen after this year. I'm sure they'll name an interim coach and then clean house after the year. Worst thing for them will be DJ White transferring, Vaden possibly as well. But it won't take long to turn things around there, even if those guys do leave. -

I've heard that the Davis resignation is a done deal from a source. Should happen tomorrow. We'll see if it does indeed. IU has gone from the top 10 to the NIT. That just blows my mind. -
I lost my Grandma back in January, it's tough. I'll pray that yours is able to make it through this.

Dan Patrick is supposedly going to talk about Ozzie, maybe he already did, not sure yet.

Who are the Twins? Wait, nevermind, I think I remember. Finished 3rd in the division last year. Were playing golf while we were winning a title.

Sorry, but this is just too funny.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 12:26 PM) i don't have interest in any of the sports on XM or Sirius. Its not a draw for me. I watch 1 team...the Sox. And if I need to, I can listen on the radio. i don't see baseball as a big draw. They're 3 million subscribers behind now. Sirius got a late start. It's a draw for out of towners like myself. And also, all of the misplaced (or bandwagon as I call them) Yankee, Cub and Red Sox fans everywhere.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 12:28 PM) Did anyone else notice that blond lady they cut to while Buehrle was talking about how his wife was the one who first saw the story about the guy selling his tickets? Was that MB's wife? That's the impression I got. I believe it is.
