  1. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) Interesting perspective on IU today from the Louisville Courier-Journal: Coach should blame himself, not IU's fans The beginning... I might know that columnist.

    QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 05:01 PM) Boz, Barrons is the way to go. This is coming from hearing a lot of people talk about it in my MBA program. Personally, I didn't have to take the exam this time when I got in to grad school since I already have a master's. However, I took the thing back in 1995 - didn't crack a book and I think I got 550's on each IIRC. It's not too bad. It's a whole lot better than Kaplan's crap book, at least that's what I've found so far. The program I am going into only requires scores of 800 (masters in education), but I'd like to do better obviously.

    Balta, I've taken two practice verbal sections on the Barron's CD CAT tests and gotten a 540 and a 550. Just wondering if you thought these practice exams were at all comparable to the real thing. Some people say they're harder and some say easier, just wanted to get your take. Also, thanks for the tip on the Barron's book. It's helped tremendously so far. I'm planning to test on March 15.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) Your side has yet to make one, but I am making my points anyway. :headshake
  5. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) Perhaps we are still waiting for legitimate points? Don't you realize that Villanova is like THE BEST JOB EVER!!!!!!!!!
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) Indiana has a better basketball history than Illinois by a mile, but that still doesn't mean it is a better job than Illinois right now. You seem to think that great basketball history automatically makes Indiana a top 5 job in America, but it really doesn't work that way. Duke is a great job because they won it all twice in the 90's, but they after that kept it up, winning it again in 2001, and are in the final 4 and top 5 in the polls practically every freaking year, for example. Just out of curiousity, what type of job is Michigan State?
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) If he only we could keep him on board as just that, but that's not possible or real. Keep getting the players he's capable of getting, and have a real motivator. Great recruiter. As far as game planning, one of the worst there is out there. There's an article set to appear tomorrow by a journalist I know that makes some good points about Davis. I'll send you linkage tomorrow.
  8. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) Who the hell is Aaron Andrews??? Since Jason likes men, he didn't realize that its actually spelled Erin Andrews. He was too busy daydreaming of Aaron Rowand, that's how the Aaron spelling snuck in there.
  9. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 10:06 PM) Yeah, I was behind him until the Minnesota game. It's impossible to defend him anymore. He is best served as an assistant coach. I've always believed that.
  10. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) Book marking this post for 15 years from now With Weber in there, they'll win one I think. At least I hope for you guys. I'm not dogging ILL, just proving a point to your fellow fan.
  11. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) Yep, he's an an Illini fan, whatever that has to do with anything... It's just funny that he would find it appropriate to point out that IU hasn't won a title in 19 years. That's just funny to me, you know, coming from a fan of a school that's never won one. But maybe that's just me.
  12. I'd really like to know what team this guy is cheering for. Let me guess, Illinois and their basketball rich tradition. (SNB and Krush, please forgive.)
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) You could always, you know, rebutt my legitmate points. But I figured not, wouldn't expect that out an Indiana fan (who I find it ironic that an Indiana fan of all people would tell somebody to go back into their hole). I'm not an Indiana fan. I cheer for them since I went to school there. But they are not my "team." Your points aren't legitimate. However you slice it, Villanova is not a better job than IU. Not now, not 20 years from now, not ever. Basketball is everything at Indiana. What has Villanova done to make it such a great job? Hell they haven't won a title in 20 years if that is what you want to base things on. Just because they are having a good year or two here and there doesn't make it a great job.
  14. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 09:54 PM) And that's Davis' fault that he can't get players from the state. That can easily change again. Indiana can give a guy Wright more money, and if they're both going good, there's no denying Indiana trumps Nova in prestige. BUT THEY HAVEN'T WON IN 19 YEARS!!!!!!!!!
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) Ha, I love Indiana fans and their pointing to the banners. YOU HAVEN'T WON A TITLE IN 19 YEARS!! As of RIGHT NOW, Villanova is a better situation for a coach than Indiana is, and that is undebateable. They are in just as good a league as Indiana, there is less f***ing psycho fans (even in Philly) and they have a lot of areas to go and recruit very well, while Indiana can't keep their own players in state. And yes, Crean was a real good assistant, but he has shown ZERO as a head coach other than the Dwyane Wade 1 man wrecking crew that carried his ass to the Final Four. And Steve Alford to Indiana would be priceless, but that won't happen. Thanks for your insight, Andy Katz. Your exclamation points and use of the CAPS LOCK really drive your point home. They make you so much more convincing. No go back to the hole you climbed out of.
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) One hell of a coach but he can go to hell. I hate that f***er. No way they'd take him at IU. That f***er needs some tranquilizers.
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) couSTEVEALFORDgh! Please no.
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) Nice win by Villanova. Crean isn't leaving Marquette though for whoever thinks that. I'm 95% sure of that. He likes it waayyy too much there for him to contemplate leaving that place. I've got good sources who say otherwise. I know he'd be interested in IU in fact. Whether or not they'd want him as their top choice is another topic entirely.
  19. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) I haven't heard much. You've been the only one I ever heard say Jay Wright. On Saturday, Andy Katz said John Beilein and Tom Crean would be high on IU's list if (when) the spot becomes open. I'm pretty sure other names will come out later on. Those are the names I like. I know Crean would be good, but I don't think he is at hot right now as he was when Marquette was in the Final 4. I think he'd like to get back into the Big 10. Beilein would be decent, but Jay Wright is the name I think is most appealing. Whether or not he would consider IU, I do not know.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) So is Duke back @ #1 next week? Unfortunately. :headshake
  21. My last memory of you was surrendering 3 homers in the 9th against Cleveland the opening series of the year. Thanks for ruining my trip to Chicago that day. Good riddance.
  22. Jenks's mental makeup going into next year is one of my main concerns as well. I don't think it's reaching too far YAS to still question this guy as far as his mental stability. There was an excellent piece recently in USA Today Sports Weekly talking about Bobby. Even documented some of his childhood life, where reportedly his parents beat him up a lot and he doesn't even speak to them now. Also he refuses to talk about the ESPN the Magazine story and there is some information about what exactly led to the Angels getting rid of him.
