This press conference could be interesting. There is a possibility of a total meltdown for Davis. I actually like Mike Davis. He's a great person, he's just not the right coach for Indiana University. He's not a good game coach at all. He fails to make adjustments and IU's defense is just abysmal. However, I will say that I think announcing this right now totally kills what was left of IU's chances to get into the NCAA tournament. You'd like to think they could rally, but I just can't imagine it. Best of luck to Coach Davis. He was a class act off of the court and he took IU to a national championship game when I was at the school. It was a thrilling time around the campus, even though I wasn't really an IU fan. The excitement among IU fans was nice to see. Since then, I've taken a liking to IU, after getting over my dislike of the program due to my hatred for Bobby Knight. Hopefully the program can get back to that point eventually. I'll be cheering for them.

Ozzie article in the new Sports Illustrated

f*** A-Rod, no one can defend him. It's comical how pissed the Yankee fans are on their MLB board. This is great stuff. Thank you, Oz. -
Ozzie article in the new Sports Illustrated

Ozzie Guillen world titles: One A-Rod's rings: ZERO A-Rod is a fraud. Rather than being a savior in Texas, he b****ed until he got traded to a better situation. And since he's been traded, Texas has improved and the Yankees haven't won a ring. I can't wait until we play them this season and Buehrle handles him like usual. Also, as far as I'm concerned, I'm glad Ozzie speaks his mind. Makes for some good entertainment. -
Ryan Gunterman, whom I went to high school with, was the former sports editor of the Indiana Daily Student, now lives in Bloomington, does an IU fan blog for the Courier Journal's website. Found it interesting his list of possible successors and the guys he doesn't want. Here's a link to his full blog: http://www.courier-journal.com/blogs/cjhoosierfan/blog.html

Not sure if I buy into this CNNSI report 100%, considering internet reporting has the luxury of using "sources" whether or not they actually exist. When I see it in print from a reputable source other than Seth Davis, then I'll take it to the bank. (Although I'm not going to dispute that he will be gone. Obviously, he will.) -

I don't even know what to say anymore. Worst play I've seen in a long time against a zone. These guys have clearly quit and that is just sad. -
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) Keith Foulke will tell you, that you just never know. He is a mental midget. No wonder he can't be counted on. Hopefully you guys have someone who can step in and close in case he implodes. One of the best days in recent memory was trading him away. All he did was cough up big games.

Decent first half for IU. They need to learn how to play against a zone though. Ratliff hasn't looked this good since the UK game. Also they need to STOP THE BALL when its being dribbled around. They're just letting Penn St (and every other team as of late) dribble wherever they'd like. -

QUOTE(easyw @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) In that picture, it doesn't even look like Farmer is wearing socks. No tie either. Did he realize he was at the White House? What a class act.. He never wears socks. Why would he change for President Bush? By the way, during his brief speech, Bush specifically acknowledged Ed. I think Ed knows him fairly well.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) AJP was on Mike and Mike this morning and he said the best move we made in the offseason was bring back Konerko. He said when he trots out on the field with a C on his jersey, the crowd and the team will go crazy. When Paulie came into the room at Soxfest, it was electric. Literally chants of Paulie were heard for 45 seconds straight before everyone stopped. One can only imagine US Cellular on opening night when the team and our captain take the field.

Buster Olney rated our pitching staff an A-. AJ thought that was pretty rough. I'd tend to agree. Also, AJ said when talking about the lineup..."our 3-4-5 of Dye, Konerko and Thome." I've been one of the few supporting that from day one and I hope it holds true.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) I can't say that. Alford did a hell of a job coaching Southwest Missouri State. He obviously has had some down years in the big 10, but he's had some really good teams that were stopped by injuries (when we had Recker in here) and than it took him a while to figure things out. I think he's learned that its better to have character guys (like Horner/Brunner/etc) as opposed to pure talent guys like Pierce that are total pricks. He's done a great job getting the team prepared and I don't think there is a team in the conference that runs better plays out of timeouts and I've been watching a ton of big 10 ball this year. Plus, there is no way you aren't doing a good coaching job when your taking a team that was picked by no one (but myself) to be in the upper echelon of the big 10 (obviously there is still time left so anything can happen). Oh and did I mention he's done a very good job making sure these guys play consistently on defense. I also think Alford has learned the importance of getting your younger guys some experience so when the seniors leave they may not be quite as raw as originally expected (that said I still expect a down year next year). Although Henderson/Freeman/Thompson/Haluska isn't too shabby, they'd really have to all step up for it to turn into something better. Right now...Alford would get my vote for Big 10 coach of the year. Just keep him away from IU. -

Hopefully Travis Walton can develop in the future because I am done with Neitzel. Also Ager has stunk it up big time lately. -

As good as his blog is at times, I found him extremly boring during the seminars at Soxfest. He really had nothing of substance to say, at least that's what I was thinking to myself while I was listening to him.
