I'll say this, if I was a manager (maybe some day) I wouldn't want any player on my team who is a afraid to get hurt. not diving for the ball or sliding shows lack of hustle. now obviously there are certain situations you just don't do it in. Larry Walker this week was in right field The rockies were up two runs with a couple guys on base. the ball was hit to him and instead of taking it on a bounce and allowing one run, he dives and misses it. THAT is when you don't dive. now obviously if there is a man on third and two outs and you are up by one or even tied, you damn right you dive for that ball. it all depends on the situation. Griffey's injury today was done on a good play. it was the eighth inning, his team was only down one run and he went out and tried to make a HUGE play to keep things close. he got hurt from it, but that is just the way it is. I would rather Magglio Ordonez go all out on a play he should go all out of for and get hurt then see him ease up because of the fear of getting hurt.

the Royals have talented pitchers, I thought that before the season started, but in no way did I think they would come around this early and be able to make up for their very weak offense. they will most likely fall but it seems outsiders said the same about us in 2000 and the same about the Twins the past two season's. while others thought we were a fluke in 2000 (which we kinda were) we thought it was legit. could be the same thing, just vise versa.
-
four runs is hardly "padding", but I get what you are saying. Thing is, they get beat by a suprising amount of mediocre pitchers too.
-
I'm assuming 159 games that are left. if so, I think that is something some Sox fans need to hear.
-
you know the sox played a poor game when both Melton and Harrleson are upset. the more I think about this game and the more I consider it one of the worse games they've played in the last three years. they did nothing right in this game. every player screwed up except Glover and Wunsch.
-
WE ARE DONE GUY'S, THERE ARE ONLY 159 GAMES LEFT, WE CAN'T POSSIBLY MAKE UP FOR A THREE GAME LOSING STREAK! BTW, if you can't tell, I was being sarcastic. everyone needs to lighten up.

this game has nothing to do with Koch or Jerry Manuel, the defense was bad and didn't do the job. Jimenez, Valentin, Crede, Konerko (ESPECIALLY) were just bad today. as far as Koch vs Foulke. who is to say Foulke wouldn't of done the same thing? like he never had meltdowns with teh sox.
-
thank you soxbadger. my theory is this, you say a team sucks, you stick by your words. my thing is, if you say the team sucks, why do you have to say it again and again? I mean by saying they suck you are saying "I KNOW THEY SUCK" yet still get made if they continue to struggle? those who say this team sucks should never cheer this team. I think "suck" is just an easy word to use. it doesn't show any intelligence, just the ability to get mad. sorry if I offend anyone, I just gotta vent.
-
where is that pre-season prediction thread? it seems a lot of people had the sox winning the division, but all I read in the posts are how we suck. I know it is upsetting, but it is still no reason to call the season off.
-
wow, this is ugly. down four with one reliever left. Josh Paul will be set down by Saturday for Matt Ginter, mark it.
-
if we win this game, it would be unfair, we played to lose this game. hopefully Koch can shut them down.
-
the umpire wasn't paying attention. you see his reaction when Olivo called down to him?
-
it was konerko who missed the ball. Jimenez kept it in the infield.
-
I don't know about anyone else, but since JM wants to get everyone PT, tomorrow, Thomas at first, Daubach at DH. Konerko has looked bad both at the plate and in the field. not sayin to bench him, just if you are gonna play Daubach, play him for Konerko.
-
Konerko's range is now REALLY starting to scare me. two plays now he's gaffed.
-
the thomas play was close, it could've gone either way.
-
gotta give Valentin credit, he stepped up today.
-
here is my reason for them playing bad. Garland has always had trouble against the Royals The Sox have always had trouble with the Royals and the Sox suck during day games. either way, not acceptable. very ugly game today. still, I'm confident and I had the Sox coming in second for my predictions, unlike others who had them coming in first. so I'm in the clear

Sorry for being late on this post people. I saw the begining of it and had a feeling it would just lead to an argument on who is a true fan or not (stuff I just get sick of). anyway, as far as what was said. Chris B. Your point is well taken, but this board will never turn soft. the whole reason we bought the domain name www.soxtalk.com is so it stands alone. SoxNet and SoxTalk are two different sites. SoxNet I like to think is clean and objective, while the board is more freedom-to-say-whatever-the-hell-you-want-based. if this board was directly within soxnet.net, I may CONSIDER your stance on this issue, but if fans can't express their opinion on a white sox message board, where else can they? as far as the whole "kids are reading" stuff. what is really bad with seeing the F-word? I mean if a kid is actually influenced by this board, it is theirs parents poor parenting skills rather than the language on the board. people, say what you want. Chris B., please, I respect what you do and you're a nice guy, but this is how this board is and will always be. I hope this ends this thread. PLEASE, I know some of you are gonna be tempted to throw more shots at Chris B. or vise versa, you know I ain't gonna delete it or anything, but can you please refrain from doing it? thanks, Mario
-
I don't know if Chris B. would like to me to go and say where he is from, but he isn't from TheInsiders, unless I'm thinking of a different Chris B. All I will say is Chris B. will be a part (or at least I hope he will) of our minor league crew, with jason (chisoxfn), mark (murc) and mike (cerb). he ISN'T from the insiders though. I read the thread he started and it appears he just said people shouldn't get all upset over a couple losses.

a seed? I don't understand.
-
alright, everyone, it is settled, the board is staying. same board, same name, same owners and the same rules. there will be a link to fanhome on www.soxnet.net, but soxtalk.com will remain as is (there will be a link to this board on soxnet as well). just gotta thank all you guys for making your opinions known and posting here, it is greatly appreciated. take care, and remember to voice your opinion, cause we trust them. thanks, Mario

Konerko's range is always a worry of me. should've had that.
-
we'll keep this board at all costs SS. once again, it may just have a new name, but it will be same board and same rules.
-
I would like to hear the opinions of EVERYONE on the board and that hasn't happened, some aren't commenting. But it is clear based on the responses we have so far that everyone wants to keep this board at all costs, which is what we'll do. I'm going to try to keep this board at soxtalk.com, IF NOT, this board will be at a new site and will stay there for GOOD. either way, this particular board will always be around. so at worse, it will be the same board, same rules, new name.
