  1. Quentin and Konerko have combined for 41 RBI so far in June.
  2. Couldnt ask for a better start to this game that's for sure
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) And I repeat that if you are burying him for one possible game in the standings then lets go through the entire roster and see how many games a certain player has blown. If you guys want perfect players, more power to you. You'll win the argument every time if you are looking for perfection. It's more about burying the logic he was using. And you cant really deny Jenks has been bad in non-save situations the past few years. He's been great lately but he's not at the level he was a few years ago anymore IMO
  4. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) HAHA that's crazy!! At least he doesn't smell anymore ..I wouldn't tell anyone about how my name came to be if That were my story! He doesnt. We do.
  5. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) The Czechs were equal to the Dutch going into the WC and we all know how Italy did. This is the World Cup and if youre a good team, youre going to have to eventually beat other good teams. The Ivory Coast has yet to prove they can beat better teams in major competitions. You think Ivory Coast fans are saying, "oh well, we lost but we played in a tough group."? No, just like we werent saying that in 2006 after failing in our group. And Portugal barely qualified for this World Cup. No one is asking the Ivory Coast to beat Brazil but asking them to beat Portugal isnt that far fetched. And they should have. They were the better team. if Drogba played the full 90 it very well could have been different. I'm not excusing them for going out again, but IMO they are the most talented team in Africa right now and I don't think anyone has much of an argument. (maybe Ghana with a healthy Essien)
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 02:56 PM) Many don't care if it works. They think it's dumb, then it's dumb. Also I see no response on the fact Bobby has pitched in a whopping 3 tie games. Thanks for looking that one up. Again, the perception is he sucks, so he sucks. Bobby rocks. Kotsay sucks but he's on the roster. I happen to think Jones sucks as well, but they are both gonna play. Jenksy Cat had the line of year here shutting up the Bobby haters: "Yeah those 3 tie games he's pitched (1 left in a tie, 2 left down) in surely will decide the season." Cat is my idol! I raise you this: QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 02:59 PM) With the AL Central being decided on the last weekend of play so many times in the past few years you're probably right.
  7. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) How old is this poor "B-O" guy?!?! Surely he grew out of the B-O ...right?!?! We're all mid-20's. Yea he grew out of it by high school but the name Bo (as in Beau) stuck. He even referred to himself as that instead of his real name in college. It's his facebook name and everything. I seriously bet a third of our friends would have to think real hard if asked what his real name was.
  8. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 01:23 PM) Yeah they had tough groups but they are a good team so more times than not they'll be stuck in a hard group because they wont be seeded. Ghana has been in tough pairings the past 2 WC's and they still were able to move on. They have managed 1 point in their 4 matches against the top teams in the groups. I guess the bad luck for them is always playing the weakest team in their final group match. By then the group has already taken shape and they are on the outside looking in. Andres Cantor call of Donovan's goal Netherlands + Argentina > Czech Republic + Italy Brazil + Portugal >>> Germany + Serbia/Australia
  9. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 12:00 PM) Boring set of morning games because there was basically no chance of Ivory Coast making up 9 goals. The past 2 WC's it seems like everyone was excited about the Ivory Coast and they fizzled out. Since Ghana has gotten out of their group 2 times in a row, maybe in 2014 Ghana will be the Africa's most hyped team. Excited about the Chile-Spain game in a few hours. Ivory Coast may not be Africa's best team (Ghana, Egypt) but they are the most talented and have had the best players the past 4 or 5 years. It's not their fault they have had s*** luck in the draw the past two tournaments.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 10:12 AM) He lost 6-0, 6-3, 6-2 in just about 75 minutes. Zero aces after having 112 in the marathon match. Didn't see that coming. Some endorsement deal will come out of that match though. He did more for his off court career than he would have if he won a couple more matches in normal fashion.
  11. QUOTE (Lillian @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 10:28 AM) To argue that you don't make any changes because they're winning is not very convincing. Pierre is not the reason that they're winning. The main reason that the Sox have suddenly turned it around is because the pitching is finally living up to its expectations. Pierre hasn't had an extra base hit in a month. He doesn't get on base nearly enough for a lead off hitter. You do all realize that his OBP is still only .315!!! They aren't winning because of him, they're winning in spite of him. The Sox have to get better at lead off if they're going to keep winning. After all, they won't be facing the weakest N.L. teams the rest of the way. I guarantee you that K.W. isn't thinking he doesn't need to tinker with this team just because it finally put together a decent run. They're winning in spite of about 8 guys right now tho...
  12. This is a random question, but how is the following play scored: Runner on 3rd, less than 2 outs. Deep fly that is an easy SF. Outfielder drops the ball allowing the batter to reach on an error. Does it still go into the scorebook for the batter as a SF RBI and no official at bat? I'm pretty sure it does but I had this debate with my friends last night and they said I was wrong and that it just went down as an error and thus cost the batter an out at bat.
  13. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 01:36 AM) Great story on Red Sox prospect Ryan Westmoreland and his ongoing recovery from brain surgery. http://www.projo.com/redsox/content/ryan_0...v3.1aca512.html Great read. Thanks. Got to hope for the best for the kid.
  14. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 09:34 AM) He'd have to throw in Viciedo to make that happen. Yeah McCutcheon ain't going anywhere. Especially since the Pirates actually seem to maybe possibly have a direction right now. But, he'd still be an awesome get.
  15. QUOTE (LZPride08 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 05:19 PM) that's one of the most awesome pics ever, and now its my background Yeah that picture is pretty incredible. What are the odds that two separate bolts hit so close at the exact same time like that?
  16. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 12:19 AM) This is true. He had the opportunity to fill that role and dropped the ball big-time. Sadly, I'd still take him over Beckham right now. But i'd rather take Viciedo over Nix right now. If Beckham gets sent down, I'd rather play DV at 3B with Omar at 2B. We can still use Lilli as the PR/DR for Viciedo late in the game. And Teahen will be back in potentially a week. There just is no more use for Jayson Nix on this roster right now IMO
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 09:09 AM) Kotsay hitting 3rd, Rios resting for the 3rd day out of 6. Lillibridge and Viciedo playing I have no problem with. Just for the record, Kotsay has 9 at-bats in the 3 spot this year. Yeah, it's dumb but it's not like it's a regular occurrence. And frankly, it worked yesterday.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 10:47 PM) Wow, a 10-page game winner thread. I like it boys, I like it! Keep it rolling! Gavin! Paulie! Someone still uses the default posts per page. What a n00b!
  19. We have no one else to hit leadoff. It's really that simple. Vizquel? Eh, maybe I guess if you're comfortable with him being a full time player, which I am not. Rios? Yeah sure, but absolutely not when he is one of the only guys consistently driving people in. He needs to be hitting 3rd. Simply put, Pierre is our only legitimate option right now.
  20. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 10:42 PM) Well you are, at least, 2 facts wiser today ...Billeaud exists and his name is pronounced "B O" ..I thought Chase was calling him B O cuz he smelled bad ..so I asked and I was wrong ..he's not a stinky boy!! :/ We have a friend, his name is Eric, but we've called him Bo since middle school. He had B-O so we were oh so clever and made it into a nickname. It has stuck as his almost exclusive name to this day.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 09:10 PM) Is this thread in English? No it's in caulfield. Seriously, i heard the twins have some message boards too buddy. You post more about the Twins here than Jim does.
  22. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:59 PM) IMO, the bigger problem is giving him up with Beckham on the verge of being sent down and Teahen on the DL. They DFA'd him too early. How so? Lillibridge and Viciedo are up right now. Teahen will also be back in a couple weeks. If Beckham is sent down Viciedo becomes your every day 3B for at least a little while.
  23. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) No, I just dislike people who seem to have a vast majority of posts hating on every aspect of the team, then when we win act like nothing happened. All the hate Jenks was getting only a couple weeks ago is now just "well, well, all I was saying was he just isn't good in tie games!!!!" when every post was calling him a useless fatass. I see no need for that bulls*** for a guy like Jenks. There were a lot of over the top comments, but in all fairness he was pitching like horses***. If you werent worried at all about him you were being ignorant or just not paying attention.
  24. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) Well it wouldn't have been trivial had we lost the game and winning streak 1-0 or something because we played a bad lineup. Fortunately, that was not how it played out though. But that's my point. Everything we are doing right now is working, so to me that whole 25 page thread b****ing about our lineup last saturday following a win was kinda dumb. Until it starts to bite us, I'm going to enjoy this.
  25. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:31 PM) Haha first thing I thought when I saw our lineup today was we'd somehow win 1-0 or something. Just about how it played out too, this team can do no wrong. Which is why i wasnt going to b**** about it. Right now, until it bites us I'm just going to enjoy and not get worked about something so trivial.
