7/9 - KC Royals @ ChiSox
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) Ugh, Castro needs to be playing against LHP! And Greg, still don't think they're trying to get #400 at home for Andruw? Well if they want to DH Quentin because of his knee, that leaves you Andruw or Kotsay for RF. Jones is the far superior defensive player and he bats righty. No problem with him playing today.

Man defends property against 'illegal' thieves....
QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 11:49 AM) The greats do without even trying. Congrats. Your superiority of being white comes through so well. Wow...

Man defends property against 'illegal' thieves....
Illegal or legal immigrants has no bearing on this whatsoever. They were on his property illegally trying to steal his possession. That alone is not just cause for the use or attempted use of lethal force. However, if they did indeed try to run this man over I have no problem with him shooting at them.

NBA Offseason Thread
I'm glad I didn't waste my time on that stupid show last night. LeBron James made a mistake in my opinion. Jordan would have never done that. Hell, Kobe would have never done that. He wants to be compared to those two? He doesnt do that. It was a cop out to join the Heat. Admittedly, I gave up on basketball when the Sonics were stolen from Seattle so I havent followed much at all in the last two years, but of all his choices, he could have brought a championship to cleveland (his home town), played with Rose in one of the biggest markets and basketball cities in Chicago, or saved basketball in the "mecca". If he wanted to be truly legendary, which I think he does based on his super-inflated ego, he doesn't choose Miami. He took the easy way out.

Using Chrome, I typed in why and like 5 results popped up...2 of them are pages I've been on, and the other 3 were (in order) "why can't i own a canadian" "why is my poop green" and "why did i get married too" wtf Incredible.

Beckham needs to be sent down
QUOTE (since56 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 10:36 AM) It's pretty bad when you wish you had Chris Getz back. I'd rather have not traded him for Teahan. Anyway, Beckham's glove is not so good you can carry that dead bat all year. Not if you plan on competing for the playoffs. Ramirez was a good second baseman but he is playing too good right now to mess with him. Nix would also have been an answer but is gone now. Play lillibridge there. Viciedo and Teahan at third. With Vizquel, the magician, as relief at all three spots. Beckham has got to go down, and get it together. He will get another chance if he does well. No he would not have been. I wish people would stop saying that.

Morel played SS again, for whatever that's worth.

Viciedo...
People keep bringing up the BB:K rate and rightfully so, but it's not as if the guy was a K machine down at Charlotte. it was slightly above 20%, which is fine for someone if he's gonna hit 30+ HR. He's young so patience could come, but also he seems to swing at the first pitch a lot too. That doesn't always mean he's pitch or plate recognition is bad, just that he likes swinging at the first good pitch he gets. If he's gonna put it in play and get on base that's acceptable for someone who will be counted on to drive in runs.

July White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:00 AM) Here's another hypothetical. The starter pitches 4 and 2/3 innings and his team is leading. They pull him because he's at 120 pitches already or whatever reason. There are 4 relievers that come in and each pitch 1 inning except one guy who pitches 1 and 1/3 inning, without ever losing the lead. Why shouldn't the starter get the win? I still think it's best because it covers the alternate situation. Requiring a starter to go 5 innings means he pitches > 50% of the game (i'm not counting 1/3 of an inning here) and to me that makes sense. It's a minimum requirement, just like an at bats or IP per game threshold to qualify for a batting or ERA title. But I will say that I wouldn't be opposed to removing the rule that disqualifies the starter from receiving the win, as long as the 5 inning rule remained for the automatic 'W'.

July White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) Seems like such an arbitrary rule and I've always disliked it. What if a team scored 1 in the top of the first then in the bottom the starter got the first out and was then removed due to injury or thrown out. I don't see it right that the starter gets the win, especially if a reliever came in and pitched 4 or 5 scoreless innings.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:01 AM) So who would have gotten the win if Peavy went out as he did in the 2nd with us up by 1 and the final score turned out to remain 1-0? I'm sure it would have been Pena. It is up to the scorer who to give it to.
