Official 2013-2014 NCAA Football Thread

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 22, 2013 -> 08:54 AM) After watching the primetime NFL games, is there another bad college football program with as many NFL players as Illinois? How many? UConn has 15+ NFL players despite being a fairly poor football school. -

So I made a post in one of my leagues saying I had QBs to trade for a RB or WR (it's a 2-QB PPR league) and an hour later I have the following trade offer: Carson Palmer Larry Fitzgerald DeAngelo Williams for Andrew Luck Cecil Shorts Darren Sproles no thank you I love people who make ridiculously idiotic trade proposals. I wonder how serious they even take it themselves. -

Lost Cobb last week, lost Martin this week. Not my year. -
Chiefs now 7-0! Wonder what kind of odds you could have gotten on them to be the last undefeated team at the start of the season? Next two games home vs Cleveland and @ Buffalo. Could very well be 9-0 going into their bye week before playing Denver in weeks 11 and 13

Well I sure am glad I decided to sit Fitzgerald last night. My options for the FLEX where I had him are basically only Hopkins or MJD but it'd be hard to do worse than he did last night -
It's probably been mentioned, but does anyone know how was he viewed in relation to Puig and Cespedes before the latter two had their success in MLB?

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 03:30 PM) Case Keenum starting this week for the Texans. Not sure what that does for their fantasy players but it's note worthy. Might actually help Foster in PPR formats. He's gonna be under a ton of pressure and may check down a lot -
Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN Red Sox don't expect to sign Jose Abreu; they figure he'll be signing with another team. White Sox, Astros now seen as frontrunners.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 01:09 PM) Damn Thursday games. Need 2 of Larry Fitzgerald (2 bad hamstrings vs Sea) James Jones (no idea if he's going to play) TY Hilton (healthy) Reuben Randle (healthy) If I knew Jones wasn't going to play, I'd probably roll Hilton and Fitzgerald. If I don't play Fitzgerald tonight and Jones is out, only option is Randle. I have no idea what to do with Fitz this week. I own him and played him last week and it obviously worked out, but this week he's still not 100%, he plays Thursday night and probably has to deal with Richard Sherman. I'm leaning towards sitting him at the moment. Hilton should be one of your two starters though. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 12:13 PM) 1. Jacobs is out, Randle is unlikely to get big numbers. Johnson will get those most PT of the three. 2. Even injured, I'd prefer Fitz over Douglas. Where did you hear Jacobs was out? -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 11:32 PM) 2-0-2 since 1998 in the Hex at Costa Rica. That's surprising, I could have sworn I heard commentators saying they barely fared better than we did down there during this qualification cycle -

QUOTE (staxx @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 09:37 PM) pick one trade PPR: alfred morris, TY hilton and jared cook for maurice jones-drew, jermichael finley, danny amendola or alfred morris and TY hilton for danny woodhead and Gronk my team: russell wilson, matt ryan marshawn lynch, doug martin, alfred morris, jonathan stewart, david wilson calvin johnson, justin blackmon, TY hilton, harry douglas, tavon austin jared cook Why would you even consider making that first trade? And you may as well drop Jonathan Stewart while you're at it unless you're in some crazy deep 16 or 18 team league -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 01:42 PM) Nothing new ever happens to the main cast. Rick is torn about something. The dude in the motorcycle is a bad ass. Carol likes him. The old Doc provides some advice via analogies. Glen and his gf suffer grief but hug it out. Carl lost the hat but now has too much hair, etc. The zombies are always good, and they were again tonight. But everything else is such crap in this show. The entire aside with Rick and the irish chick - what did that accomplish? What message was delivered there that we didn't already cover 4 times in prior seasons? Zombie apocalypses suck and you have to do awful things to survive? Hmm, that's new. I watch because the zombie kills are always excellent, but man it's upsetting that this show can't raise the bar a little bit. The governor was the best part of the show so far and i'm sure he won't be back until the end of the season (if ever). According to various reports, he'll be back and there will be at least two episodes basically just about him

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 14, 2013 -> 12:23 PM) I thought the episode was somewhat mediocre to be honest. Too much ambiguity with that kid and some of the stuff with Rick. Wasn't very compelling. I didn't have anything wrong with the ambiguity surrounding the new kid, I'm sure it will be addressed in a future episode, but in general I thought the episode was kind of slow. The walkers dropping from the roof was an entertaining scene though.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 12, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) 1-0 wins by CR and Panama will send Panama to NZ. And I'm pretty sure Mexico has a less than superb record down in Costa Rica too. This is going to be stressful for their fans. -

Gotta love playing two guys who throw up a goose egg in one league (Shorts, Graham) and two guys who get hurt and have to leave the game early in the other (Cobb, Schaub). This was probably the worst luck I've ever had in any one week of fantasy football in a long, long time. -

Someone dropped Tavon Austin in a league I'm in. I'm debating putting in a waiver claim and dropping Steve Smith. It is for my WR4 spot. PPR league, also awards 1 point per 20 return yards. I'm not super high on Austin this year, but I feel he might be an upgrade to Smith later on this season. Thoughts? -

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 12:08 PM) Last place team (0-5) made a trade with the first place team and a couple of owners are calling bulls***. This is a 2 QB otherwise traditional league. What do you guys think? Joe Flacco and Matt Forte (last place) for Josh Gordon, Alex Smith and Bilal Powell (first place) What's wrong with it? Flacco and Smith are both QB2s. Flacco more upside but has more duds and Smith more consistently average. Forte big upgrade to Powell obviously, but some, including me, value Gordon as a WR in the 15-20 range. Looks like a pretty fair trade to me -

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 05:04 PM) I completely disagree. It DOES affect you when you are having to play this now super team, or this super team is in your division and it's a reason you get booted out of the playoffs. It's not fair to have 2 teams working together with twice the amount of draft picks and players available. You missed something reading what he said the first time. Re-read it. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 10:38 PM) Glad I ignored you turds and told my wife to start Jacobs. I did say you gotta hope for a goal line plunge, and in this case he got two. He's still awful though -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 11:47 AM) She's already got Ronnie Hillman. I feel like there is real potential for Hillman to get 12-15 touches vs Jacksonville. Jacobs is awful and you'd have to hope for a goal line plunge and that whole NE backfield is a crap shoot. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 11:11 AM) Here's one for Soxtalkers. The wife is struggling with this choice so I thought I'd pose it to you here. Brandon Jacobs (Wilson is toast) vs Bears tonight or Ridley/Blount whomever starts on Sunday for the Pats vs the Saints on Sunday. Unfortunately, this call needs to be made today. Is grab someone off the waiver wire an option? If Donald Brown or Ronnie Hillman were available, I'd almost rather play one of them to be honest.
