  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 3, 2013 -> 08:54 PM) You go get him and play him every week. He is unowned in half the leagues I play in. He is bye week filler only. He is owned in every league I play in. Despite you clearly not being able to see it, there is a difference in being a weekly starter and being un-ownable as you previously suggested. He is a strong WR3 and one with high upside in PPR leagues. I still prefer Shorts to Blackmon, but he should be owned in all but the shallowest of leagues
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2013 -> 10:01 AM) They were up 6-1, what were the Avs so pissed about? QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 3, 2013 -> 10:48 AM) Roy is a dick, thats about it. He threw a couple of goons out at the end of a blowout win. Their 18 year old, #1 overall pick, Nathan Mackinnon, was kneed about 30 seconds before this and it was not called. Mackinnon was also roughed up earlier in the game. Roy responded accordingly with the line. The Ducks players completely made it worse by reacting to the small cross check the Avs player did.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 3, 2013 -> 11:09 AM) WHO'S READY FOR BILLS AND BROWNS? Easily the two most exciting teams in the NFL As a Cameron owner in one league and a Gordon in the other (and also own EJ as my QB3 in a 2 QB league), I'm actually excited to watch this game. Plus I'd like to get a look at Brian Hoyer and see if he's at all legit
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 3, 2013 -> 09:09 AM) 49ers SS Donte Whitner has filed official paperwork to change his last name to "Hitner." "That's what I do. It's my last name and removing a letter makes it pretty cool," he said. Stupid. And that's even without the fact that he will be SS Hitner
  5. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 05:49 PM) Gates ....................Blackman does not even deserve a roster spot. Uh...no, lol I'd go with Gates this week too, but Blackmon is definitely one to keep an eye on. He was top 10 among fantasy receivers in PPG the second half of last season. Like Shorts, he will get a lot of looks, especially since the Jags will be losing and be in garbage time frequently
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 04:56 PM) Traded Alshon Jeffery for Giovani Bernard and Tony Gonzalez for Julio Jones This has been a good week. Had absolutely no backup RB and I have MJD as my RB2 (hasn't done s***). I've been looking for a true WR1 to go alongside DeSean Jackson and Jordy Nelson and now I have that. I have nothing (a nothing named Kellen Winslow) at TE this week, but I have Gronk on the bench ready to go in Week 6, hopefully. Whoever you traded with is an idiot
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) I wonder if NYG will be interested in MJD. Doubtful. MJD is a free agent at the end of the year, so unless the Giants think they can turn their season around it'd be a waste to make a move for him.
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 03:33 PM) UConn has lost their coach and their conference--they're no longer a Top 20 program. Couldn't be more wrong.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 09:18 AM) In our Soxtalk league I've got Demaryius Thomas and Welker AND Manning, and despite the loss that will be taken on Denver's bye week (I think week 6), I don't know that Denver doesn't score enough points to require diversifying, to be honest. It doesn't require it, but if someone would flip you a Julio Jones or Victor Cruz for one of those receivers I'd be listening.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 04:43 PM) One thing I think we'll find in terms of "job-killing" by Obamacare is, there will be very little of that for corporations of significant size (say, a few hundred people or more, who already have infrastructure to handle the regs), or with 95% of small businesses (which are well under the 50 person mark). But what you will have, I believe, is a weird blip in the curve between about 40 and 100 people in a company. For those firms, the reg requirements and paperwork, as well as in some cases pure cost, will be difficult. That means some companies under 50 may aim to stay under 50 if at all possible, unless they are ready to make a big burst. And companies 50+ and less than a couple hundred will have huge burdens that may effect how many people they can employ. The result of this is two-fold. First is the actual job losses (or more accurately, lack of jobs created), which hits in the short term. But in the long term, you are creating an artificial horizon, which essentially becomes a barrier to growth. Most large companies started very small, and at some point transited through the 50-100 people level. What will equivalent companies do now, when they approach that line? Some may decide to go on as normal. Others may hesitate. I doubt it will be 100% of either. But that sticky number becomes an impediment to growth. This is not to say that makes ObamaCare totally invalid or all bad - it is just a subtle point I haven't seen discussed much, but which I think may cause issues down the road. We'll have to see if the good parts of the law outweigh the bad. My uncle owns a company and he was right around 50 employees and let a couple go. My mom also works part time at a university and the university sent out a letter a couple weeks ago saying that they will essentially be cutting the allowable working hours of all part time employees (by as much as 50%) because of this as well. Anecdotal, but two vastly different businesses.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 04:44 PM) What do you guys think of Decker (me) for Josh Gordon and mcfadden handcuff. I have Welker as well and have been thinking about diversifying before bye week. Seems about right. I'm not sure who McFadden's handcuff even is anymore but it makes sense to want to diversify your receivers and Hoyer has looked remarkably capable of getting Gordon the football
  12. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 09:01 AM) hopefully the NFL Network picks it up. They are
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 11:27 AM) I'm up 116-77 and he had Colston and Sproles going tonight in a PPR. I feel confident but deep down I just have a feeling that he's going to end up getting like 42 combined out of them. I'm down 29 in a PPR with Brees and Sproles. I should be fine, but I have the same feeling I am going to end up with only 25 out of them lol
  14. Hard to imagine someone giving Reed a grade of a 'D' for the year, but then again, Marty.
  15. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 12:36 AM) Check out this trade..... Ryan Matthews for DeSean Jackson. Thoughts? In a vacuum, I'm taking DJax in that one. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 08:00 AM) White and Fitzgerald are the "name" guys but at the moment, Amendola and Boldin are the stats guys. If White gets healthier and Fitz gets some passes, it will be a steal, but right now in the short term, the first two guys will be better. Not really. Amendola is chronically injured, including right now, and Boldin has had two mediocre to poor games since his opening week blow up. Not sure how you can argue the latter two are the better bet when one hasn't played in 2 weeks and is out for at least a couple more and the other is in a really suspect offense right now. White/Fitz is a straight trade rape in that deal.
  16. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 12:34 AM) Ok I have a fantasy trade question. I'm in a 12 team league, I'm stacked at WR with Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones, and Victor Cruz. I can play all 3 at once because of the Flex position and I have DeAndre Hopkins as my 4th WR. But I'm very weak at RB. I have Arian Foster and Rashard Mendenhall as my 2 running backs. Chris Ivory and Micheal Bush are now my only 2 backups. So I basically have nothing at the RB. So naturally someone who's heavy at RB and weak at WR approached me and gave me 3 trade possibilities. 1. Victor Cruz for Maurice Jones-Drew 2. Julio Jones for Maurice Jones-Drew 3. DeAndre Hopkins for Ben Tate. He also has Fred Jackson, CJ Spiller, Ryan Matthews and Ahmad Bradshaw for RB's. Think any of those 3 trades might be a good idea? Or asking for another RB instead? Help please! I'm 3-0 right now whereas he's 0-3 so he probably is pretty desperate. Take a flier with Tate for Hopkins. Don't trade for any of his other RBs
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 11:04 AM) Your starting quarterback is Big Ben? yeesh One of them. It's essentially a 2 QB league
  18. The Chiefs defense is legit. Justin Houston is going to be in the running for DPotY at the end of the year.
  19. So someone proposed this trade to me in a 2QB PPR league...Cam + Daryl Richardson for Big Ben + Trent Richardson. Obviously a huge upgrade at QB but I don't trust D. Richardson to start all year. Especially with Pead back now.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 08:59 AM) The title of this thread is pretty funny. The article doesn't at all indicate a "lousy future". Plus, considering our pitching staff and the age of it, it makes building a better future much more attainable that people give us credit for.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 19, 2013 -> 01:33 PM) I actually dont like either of those RB's. Why isnt Sankey a franchise back? He's not small and he produces. But I also agree that '15 is deep, and that would be the class to grab a RB if you could, i'm assuming both Gordon and Gurley come out and I love both of those guys. For some reason I think Cle is set on getting yet another QB in '14. Sankey reminds me of Ingram.
  22. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 19, 2013 -> 01:10 PM) I'd start Royal this week over Shorts, brutal matchup against SEA. You'd basically be relying on garbage time to get him any points. I'm either starting Royal or Givens over Shorts this week. Brutal matchup for him indeed.
  23. QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 19, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) I picked up Rainey too but then dropped him minutes later in favor of McGahee. Hopefully he passes his physical. I'd go Woodhead in a PPR. With Stephen Jackson out who should I play at flex? Right now I have Julius Thomas starting there but I also have Eddie Royal and Coby Fleener(Dwayne Allen is out). I feel like I should wait a week to consider McGahee there. Would you guys start Royal over Garcon/T. Smith/Shorts? Thomas over Royal and Fleener Garcon out of the 4 WR this week QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 19, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) Not sure how you figure. They didn't trade away any pieces of their legitimately good to great defense, they made their already bad offense worse. I doubt they will be running more plays at all. I didn't say anything about running plays. They obviously will have no running game and will probably lose 14 games. They are going to be behind a lot and will be putting the ball in the air. Gordon and Cameron are their only two legitimate threats and they actually have decent offensive minds on the sidelines. I wouldn't worry about those two due to the volume of targets sure to come their way.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 18, 2013 -> 06:39 PM) He's a good power/change of pace guy IMO. Much better RB's coming out next year. Who? Seastrunk and Carey? I feel like the '14 RB class is barely better than this past class. De'Anthony Thomas has a best case scenario of Darren Sproles, Bishop Sankey isn't a franchise back, the FSU RBs probably won't come out until next year. Michael Dyer probably won't be drafted until the 3-5th rounds because of off the field issues, although he could possibly be a franchise RB. It's the '15 class that is loaded IMO.
  25. With Richardson being a "Do Not Play" this week...not sure who to start in his place. I picked up Bobby Rainey (who is starting this week in Cleveland), Ben Tate and Danny Woodhead. PPR league.
