  1. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 02:01 AM) I make a joke of this because according to my family history book I'm a descendant of King Henry VII. He had an illegitimate child named Richard Edwards who I'm a descendant of. So if that's correct King Henry VII is 14 generations up. It doesn't mean anything, it's just fun to joke about it. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 03:29 AM) My story is very similar. I'd have to check my genealogy for the royal inseminator in question. I also have a similar lineage back to Mary Queen of Scots
  2. What's also pretty comical is they gave a Semien present/future power grades of 2/2 and Sanchez 3/4
  3. Reports from Kicker out of Germany saying John Anthony Brooks will be called up for USA-Bosnia friendly August 14th. This is not cap-tying but securing the services of JAB would be huge news for the USMNT. Potential starting CB for the next 3-4 World Cups in the best case scenario
  4. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 10:49 AM) Really, two straight losses to...Panama. The sports press down here are going nuts and they want Chepo De La Torre gone yesterday. I'm surprised they've kept Chepo around as long as they have. They've looked disastrous for a while now. With a really tough close to the WCQs, they might have to play New Zealand for that last spot in the WC
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 08:54 PM) Entering today, Micah has a 1.1 BB% in A+ compared to 11% in A- Strikeout rate is at 12.5% in W-S as opposed to 19.4% in Kanny
  6. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 08:56 PM) He has to play his way back to the national team. It was good for him to play. And what a f***ing joke the ref was tonight. Typical CONCACAF BS. Honduras just hacked away at us all night and the ref sat there with his whistle up his ass. Clear PK against Holden that should have been a red and nothing. Forearm to the GK head and nothing. But Jurgen argues a call and gets a red. The EJ gets a yellow for nothing. Wondo also probably earned two PKs a few minutes earlier but because he decided not to flop and try and work through the fouling the ref decided not to call anything.
  7. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 02:54 PM) Absolutely, he's a consensus top 2 prospect in all of baseball, usually behind only Buxton. Not to nitpick, but I'd bet a lot of people would put Sano ahead of him as well.
  8. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 09:32 AM) Well, my bad. Not a scout. Basically the same thing.
  9. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 09:19 AM) Some scout I read remarked when watching the future games that Rienzo showed a pretty nasty out pitch. I just edited my earlier post to say that Snodgress really isn't rising...just sort of hanging.
  10. Random thought but with everyone asking bucket and doc for inside info it made me wonder, has it ever been established how k0na gets his info? I follow him on twitter just in case he drops something.
  11. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 07:41 PM) Olacio hasn't allowed an ER in at least 20 IP. 2.40 ERA over his last 10 games. Only allowed > 2 runs twice over that span. SO:BB still needs to get better but he's a very intriguing prospect.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 01:23 AM) Video of Hawkins' homer: http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?con...81&sid=milb Kid's got quite the power and bat speed. Did seem like he had a lot of movement in that whole set-up though.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 04:40 PM) OMG EVERYONE! Kate delivered her baby vaginally! I was so worried!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, wtf. That information was a breaking news headline on CNN.com. 18 years from now don't be shocked if you see someone with the name Royal Baby [insert last name here]
  14. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 04:12 PM) Great thread. It's awesome that the catch-all is gone!
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 11:39 AM) Unclear as to the reason since it's on appeal but Von Miller is facing a 4 game suspension (I do note that's the "PED length). I heard it was marijuana related
  16. I think he should be given a look in September. In a season where there's literally nothing to lose, his performance this year has been intriguing enough to see how he might handle ML pitching.
  17. Does the fact that he's an American kid mean he may go to Bristol sooner than later? Or allow him to spend time in instructional leagues in the fall or anything like that?
  18. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 07:17 AM) After striking out 8 in 3.2 IP, does Brad Goldberg deserve a call-up? or prospect status? Yes I know he is 23 but he was just drafted and could move quickly I think he should probably move up to W-S at some point this season. He's already 23, so you'd like to push him a little bit.
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 12:55 PM) Polanco is a stud. I don't think he's getting traded unless the Pirates went all out and got a guy like Stanton. Stanton would cost the Pirates way more than Polanco. You're talking about Polanco + Hanson + Taillon
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 17, 2013 -> 11:27 PM) Where are we, North Korea? Freedom of speech and press and all that jazz. If you're offended then don't buy it. This. It's not a big deal. As someone previously said, fauxrage is way too popular right now.
  21. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 17, 2013 -> 09:30 PM) July is really the perfect month as an American sports fan. Only MLB is going on and in July it can get a little boring at times. 2022 is a Winter Olympic year so a February WC might not be feasible. And if they want it in January, well that would go up against the NFL playoffs. And yes it does matter because the US market is one of the (if not the) highest market and brings in the most revenue via advertising and tv rights. Sponsors would definitely shy away from an event going head to head with them. And if FIFA knows anything, it's $$$$ QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 07:39 AM) If I understand correctly, the major European leagues have at most a 1-2 week break in the winter. Clubs aren't going to let their best players off for a month, are they? If FIFA mandates those dates, the clubs have no choice.
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 17, 2013 -> 02:38 PM) Comparing how one company reacted to something today with how they reacted 40 years ago is pointless, especially since the company barely existed 40 years ago. Who's to say the people currently running CVS wouldn't have reacted the same way back then? Pretty sure he wasn't talking about CVS
  23. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 17, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) Yeah, let's compare anything now to something 40 years ago. That's 2 generations difference. Why does that matter?
  24. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 16, 2013 -> 10:28 PM) I've always loved the World Cup but that's really the only time I watched. I'm actually starting to follow all the prelims and watch as many games as I can now. Let me ask you guys: what battles should I be looking for on the US roster? And what do we think the starting 11 will be come next summer? It appears the US is set in using a 4-2-3-1 Right now, my best guess as to what the starting XI will be in Brazil would be the following: Jozy Holden - Dempsey - Donovan Bradley - Jones F. Johnson - Besler - Gonzalez - Cherundolo Howard I'm going off the assumption that Holden is 100% fit and back to form at that time, but if he is not the position will almost assuredly go to Zusi. Fabian Johnson was great when pushed up to LM but he's our best LB and if Holden is fit Johnson should play back there. As good as Beasley has done at that spot for us recently, he is not a LB that should be playing there unless it's an emergency in the WC. Besler and Gonzalez appear to be Klinsman's guys at the CB positions. Goodson has looked good at the Gold Cup so he has a chance at one of the spots. Bocanegra appears to be done with the national team but I guess you could say he's still got a slim hope. Also, Maurice Edu could play there in a pinch if it becomes obvious that Gonzalez just can't get it done. At RB, Steve Cherundolo is still our best option, even at 35. Timmy Chandler is a possible option there as well. Parkhurst probably blew his chance at that spot during this Gold Cup and Brad Evans, as well as he's done, is not a RB you want playing on the World Cup stage. Players such as Corona, Diskerud, Kljestan and Eddie Johnson could see some time in Brazil as well. Also, if Aron Johansson switches to the US from Iceland, he will also push for time up top if something were to happen to Dempsey or Jozy.
  25. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 16, 2013 -> 10:03 PM) Shea used as he should be today: as a sub. It wasn't even a good finish and Donovan's ball was freaking awesome, but he still was there. Donovan is an automatic starting 11 player in Brazil. He always was for me, but now there won't be any controversy to go with it. The passes from both Corona and Landon were world class. Shea's finish was amateurish
