  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) I don't buy used games either and I think digital distribution will make this policy less of an issue later in the generation. That said, many 3rd parties already have online passes for their games meaning if you buy a used game you have to buy an online pass if you want to play multiplayer. That's why so many games are forcing in multiplayer. It's become a requirement as a way to limit used game distribution. Ubisoft and EA already do this for their games. So DRM already exists on current gen in a way. I've bought the last few Assasin's Creed games used and then traded them back in when I was done. I don't play games nearly as much as I used to so when I'm done with a game now I just turn it in for what I can get. I rarely play multiplayer anymore.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 03:57 PM) This "The Last of Us" case is sitting on my work desk just teasing me. I'm beginning to wonder if this "The Last of Us" that everyone is talking about it, is really just TaylorSt and the remaining Xbox boys...
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 09:06 AM) No. You don't send a guy who has had the success Hawkins has had at High-A down to Low-A or rookie ball. It does absolutely nothing for his development. He'd hit .400 with 30 homers in rookie ball. This is something he needs to work out at High-A. Promotions are silly, but sitting in High-A all year is perfectly fine. Sitting at High-A next year is also perfectly fine.
  4. I saw someone say something about this last night on twitter. As a 20 year old in A ball, Glenallen Hill struck out over 200 times (40% K rate). He went on to have a fairly productive major league career and never struck out more than 98 times in a season (and was only over 87 twice).
  5. If you do some quick google searches about GoT Season 4, there are some interesting articles discussing what (and who) we may and may not see next season and what direction the writers may go in and how it relates to the books. Some good stuff in a few of those articles.
  6. That was probably the best 90 minutes I've seen the national team play since the 2009 Confederations Cup semi vs Spain. Michael Bradley is officially a world class player. And Jozy is playing himself (and AZ) into a pretty lucrative transfer deal this summer I believe. It will be interesting to see what JK does with Jones and Cameron. Cameron played a great game in the middle there alongside Bradley.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 05:16 PM) They're going to have a difficult finding 3 position players that really deserve to play in Arizona. Micah Johnson would be the obvious choice right now, and it would benefit Walker or Thompson as well. Carlos Sanchez, maybe. Perhaps DeMichele or Semien, whichever they feel has the highest upside. You'd love to have one guy in the AFL every season that you felt had a shot at being an MLB All-Star someday. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 05:48 PM) Johnson is still in A ball - he isn't going, unless he's promoted between now and then. Semien is an obvious choice. Ravelo maybe, to see what they have there. Walker perhaps. It isn't about "deserving" anyway - it is about the reasons you send someone. Those reasons include: specific development needs, or being a marginal prospect and they want to challenge them, or lost development time during the season. And it is pretty early to even guess who falls into those categories by September. Agreed with NSS. Semien is an obvious send. I feel like Walker and Thompson are pretty solid choices as well. Sanchez too. Kid is still just 20 years old, so it's not as if he's worked his way beyond going. I'd also not mind seeing them send someone like Dan Black. DeMichele could go too, especially if he's promoted at all this season. We have some candidates.
  8. Even if he hits .350 the rest of the year, if it goes along with a 40% strikeout rate it would be foolish to promote him
  9. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 03:48 PM) That's all you got? Just ignore the DRM news? I'm not ignoring anything. You're grasping at straws. XBox One controls the DRM to their games but Sony announces that 3rd party publishers will have that control over their own games and it becomes "LOL Sony"-worthy? Please. It shouldn't shock anyone that 3rd party publishers will maintain that control. Despite your initial post about this, this news is not a "win" for Microsoft
  10. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) You think developers will allow DRM? Sony backed down in a day. Do you still buy your cd's from Tower and listen to them on your Alpine pull-out too? Sure is tough being an XBox fanboy nowadays, I'll give ya that.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 03:35 PM) Yep, with Hawkins, it's all about getting experience and building upon success. One step forward, a step back...but seems to have recovered nicely. Maybe it took some real struggles for him to appreciate how easily the game came to him last year. Whether he "deserves" to be promoted from a statistical standpoint, that's arguably not one of the top 3-5 considerations for the Sox like it is fans who follow prospects from a distance and try to analyze their strengths and weaknesses. They will definitely try to get him some at-bats for Birmingham (if he continues hitting like this from here on out) and then hopefully carrying that momentum into the AFL season, if he's still 100% healthy and not too banged up. It baffles me where people are getting this absurd notion that Courtney Hawkins is or should be getting a promotion this year. Yeah, he's been better since his return from injury but he's still struck out in 40% of his at bats. I'm also pretty sure players under AA don't get sent to the AFL. He's 19 years old. He shouldn't even be in AA next year until that K rate comes way down. If it takes him until 2015 to make AA so be it. I mean, it sucks that he'll already be 21 at that point (OMG!) but it's dumb to rush him. Just because Trout and Harper spent no time in the minor leagues, doesn't mean it should apply to others.
  12. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 03:26 PM) And just like that, DRM is already dead. LOL Sony. Uh, no. Keep up the good fight though
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 03:57 PM) If the PS4 comes out at $350, they are going to put XBox out of commission. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 03:58 PM) God, if it's only $350 I guess I'll be diving into the next generation. Yeah. I had no plans on buying a PS4 until next year but if the launch price really ends up being $350, I'm probably going to try and buy one as soon as I'm able to get my hands on one
  14. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 10:05 AM) Overall, loved the season. They did so many things incredibly well that the minor things don't bother me. I can't wait for the next season to start going through these story lines, with some of their being different from the books as well They've already announced they are casting the Red Viper (not a spoiler) so for that alone I'm excited for Season 4. Just of all the ways to end it, it had to be that Dany scene, which was just kind of meh to me.
  15. I believe that was the first time we've won in Jamaica, which is shocking, so no matter how it looked a win is a win. Mexico has looked really bad in qualifying. Another 0-0 draw for them. Blas Perez did not make the trip to Seattle for Panama so that should make it even easier for us. I expect a relatively easy 3-1 win tomorrow night.
  16. Disappointed with the GoT finale.
  17. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 12:22 AM) That's why I said cut/trade Curley. He is having a good year, but he is like 25 years old in High-A. Curley plays SS. Neither Johnson or DeMichele play SS.
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 02:50 PM) Did the Sox get value for their third round pick in your opinion? Did the Sox get value for their fourth round pick?
  19. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) Scouting report I was reading said he had contact issues. His numbers (from the link you yourself posted) suggest otherwise.
  20. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 02:38 PM) It's a draft day tradition that the Sox won't get value for their picks (i.e. 200th rated prospect in 3rd round.) That's fine if they have shown to build a top flight farm system by doing that, but unfortunately it's the exact opposite. i.e. 50th rated prospect in the 4th round... Wait, that doesn't fit into your plan to b**** about everything the organization does, does it?
  21. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) Pretty typical Sox pick. All tools, has strikeout issues. http://www.goccusports.com/sports/m-basebl...3/teamcume.html Um. A 10% K rate doesn't exactly qualify as "strikeout issues" to me...

  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 04:10 PM) Seriously, I see no reason why the GoT book talk can't go in another thread or in the book thread. These items are separate. If it needs spoilers, it doesn't belong in the thread regarding the TV version of GoT. False. They are very often related. Same thing happens/happened with the Walking Dead. Just don't read them.
