QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 2, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) Not really. A .316 average looks pretty, but all he had were six singles, zero XBH. He was making pretty good contact. Small sample size but it was an encouraging start nonetheless

Hawkins leaves game after diving catch

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:44 AM) There are quite a few prospects in the org noted for defense. Anyway, W-S is saying Hawkins is day-to-day, but they won't get into further detail just now. I'm pretty sure some scout said Thompson was the best defensive OF in our minors last year. And that was including Jordan Danks. -
QUOTE (Brian @ May 2, 2013 -> 04:55 AM) Reed didn't throw at AJ. It was up and in a tad but AJ stuck his elbow pad out and took it to get on base. Moving on. I just saw the replay and that's what I came away with as well. It wasn't even the first pitch of the at bat and the pitch wasn't THAT far inside. It would have been a lot more suspicious if he drilled him right in the body. AJ's elbow is awfully close to the plate there. Unless someone who actually knows says differently, I think this was just a simply HBP and nothing more.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 09:46 AM) The accents can be a bit thick, but if you rewatch the episode you should be able to get all of it. I thought Jamie's retelling of killing Aegon was spot on, terrific acting job. Yeah, I'm going to be interested in seeing how his character continues to play out and see if tv-only viewers come away with the same thoughts about him I did after reading the book.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 01:45 AM) That looks like Andre from The League -
I must have missed this, but what does that even mean?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 25, 2013 -> 07:56 PM) Homer or K? If flavum is posting, it's either something negative or a complaint, so that should answer it for you.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 25, 2013 -> 02:00 PM) There aren't 20 first round talents in this draft, so the Bears probably aren't getting first round talent with their pick. He is somewhere around the 20-30th best player in this particular draft. It's a weaker draft for sure and if KC gets Miami's first 2nd round pick I'd love to take him there if he was still around, but I wouldn't take an above average inside linebacker whose ceiling is that of a poor man's Luke Kuechly in the first round.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 25, 2013 -> 01:33 PM) Because he's from Notre Dame and hating Notre Dame is way more important than, you know, football reasons and stuff. LOL. Or it could be because, you know, he probably isn't a first round talent.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 25, 2013 -> 12:43 PM) I don't think they like Smith at all. I think their top 3 are Nassib, Barkley, and Manuel. I think Smith has the highest ceiling out of any QB in the draft, but he's got the second lowest floor too (next to Manuel), and I don't think he'd handle playing in Buffalo very well. I really don't understand why people are so high on Nassib and Manuel. But I've heard from multiple friends of mine who are Bills fans hoping they draft one of them

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 25, 2013 -> 12:17 PM) I am praying that either Sheldon Richardson or Star Lotulelei somehow fall to 20. They would be great adds to the Bears. Otherwise, I would prefer a trade down and pick up a third rounder and take either A. Brown/Minter/other LB that falls to around 30 where the Bears trade down to. Can't see Lotulelei falling that far and I'm hearing SF is trying to trade up into top 15 to grab Richardson

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 11:10 PM) I really want to like Revolution. It has sooo much potential (it reminds me a lot of Jericho). But seriosuly, this whole thing is such a stretch. Not only do they , but apparently they now ? WTF? Is it really such a stretch? Wasn't Lost a stretch? Or Flash Forward? Terra Nova? The Event? It's entertainment.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 07:56 PM) Well, we had Santiago and Axelrod and Quintana (especially) last year. Why not? Although I'd guess 90% of fans would rather see Johnson or Snodgress get some September starts. What do those three have to do with Zaleski?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) That trailer said October. Ah I didn't see it. I just remember the US release date was supposed to be the second week of November. Obviously that could change.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 12:15 PM) Why is Thor 2 coming out in Oct? Seems odd. It's coming out in November
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 22, 2013 -> 05:56 PM) I still can't believe how much the change to the 3 day format ruined the draft for me. Just no where near the excitement for the draft that I used to have. Agreed. The Saturday of the draft was basically like a holiday for me. One of the best days of the year

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2013 -> 04:39 PM) CNN has called it "Al Qaeda linked" for whatever that's worth. (keeps reminding me that I need to change the news alerts app on my phone after their fail last week). I was just making a joke.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 22, 2013 -> 11:04 AM) Well I think my confusion is understandable given the large number of people who don't want Dzhokhar to be afforded his constitutional rights, many of whom actively want them violated, and who are a-ok with rape, even going so far as to say that someone deserves it as extrajudicial punishment. I don't see why Dzohkar's disgusting, appalling acts means we should lower our own moral standards. It's not about wishing something like that directly upon him, it's just not caring. There's a difference in actively hoping for "insert incident here" to happen to him and just not caring about the possibility of said incident occurring. I think everyone is aware of what generally occurs in prisons around the country. Prison culture is amplified in the media and entertainment but "bad things" happen to people in there because the place is filled with bad people and short of constant watch or isolation, there's really no way to ensure someone's absolute safety from fellow inmates 100% of the time. And with that said, knowing what potential consequences of incarceration are, the crimes that this man committed that will land him there are heinous enough where I, and others, just simply don't care about his future well being. He hasn't earned it.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 22, 2013 -> 10:58 AM) We have a legal system where people charged with crimes are afforded due process and where incarcerated people do not lose all of their rights. We do? Oh thank God, I never knew that!
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 22, 2013 -> 10:50 AM) You don't need to feel sympathy for him (I sure as f*** don't) to 1) want him to be fully protected by his constitutional rights which don't evaporate once you're in prison, counselor, and 2) don't believe that anyone, anywhere deserves to be raped. I don't believe anyone, anywhere deserves to be blown up. So for the people who do those things I couldn't give two s***s about what ultimately happens to them. You reap what you sow.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2013 -> 03:45 PM) Oh great, Masterson vs. Dylan Axelrod tmrw. Hopefully it doesn't turn out like that dreaded Felix Hernandez vs Dylan Axelrod matchup did... -
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) 25 Doubles and 7 Triples in 500+ ABs, put that in perspective, that is .080 ISO+, which is the highest of his career. Again put that in perspective as well, Keenyn Walker, notorious singles hitter, posted at .110 ISO+ last year. While you can bash about Gilmore, once upon a time, we were praying for his power to arrived, he did put up .100 ISO+ at age 20, but never found his power. Not to mention some of Sanchez XBHs can be attributed to speed as well. Like I said, we've been down this road before with contact hitters, I don't have faith in him even becoming a doubles machine. Take it from BP, they rated his power 20/20 at the end of last year. LOL at the bolded. He was 19/20 years old...

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 10:31 AM) I feel like what's being lost here is that this kid is 21 years old in AAA. First and foremost, it's a big jump, but even if he doesn't fill out a lot, he's still going to fill out a bit as he ages. Tyler Kuhn and Chriz Getz were 24 and 23 respectively when they had their crazy good seasons. There's no reason to assume some power won't develop in his game. He's actually still 20 and I believe is the youngest player in AAA. He has a lot of time.
