  1. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 04:54 PM) Was surprised to read that, in 2012, only three teams were more likely than the White Sox to have their baserunners score (including both RBI and non-RBI results) Interesting stat. Too bad we didn't have more baserunners
  2. Great job getting out of that inning. Phew!
  3. That's a big strikeout. Sets up a possible DP
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 03:35 PM) Only if your feet are in play or were in play when they were last on the ground. If you jumped into the stands and actually had your feet on the ground before you caught the ball it would not be an out. What if someone caught a ball in RF on the run and pulled a Derek Jeter and took 8 more steps and dove over the small fence in the corner? HR or out? Edit: Referring to Boston specifically since they have a small enough fence to make this very possible
  5. Whenever I hear Don't Stop Believing I am reminded of the White Sox 2005 WS run. And I make everyone around me know about it
  6. Alex Rios batting 1.000! He obviously can't be stopped
  7. Rodney Purvis to transfer. UConn one of the front runners. They were a finalist on him a couple years back right before he made his decision
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 01:09 PM) Let this mark the end of dumbass, baseless, meaningless threads topics that have engulfed pht the last 4 months or so. There's real baseball to discuss now. If a thread so happens to pop up that fits said description, then by the power of greyskull, i shall put an irreversible curse on said perpetrators. Why not just subject them to forcible sight of grotesque and vile images - Snooki, for example.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 01:17 PM) Does it bother anyone else that articles mention Michigan being in the final four for the first time since 1993 even though that appearance was vacated? I mean, isn't the point of vacating wins to pretend like they never happened because the team cheated to get there? Is that just crappy journalism or does it not matter? Here's the write-up about it (and headline) from ESPN.com: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=330900057 There's not even an asterisk or footnote mentioning that 92 and 93 had the be vacated. Part of me says that's f***ed up. The NCAA can try as hard as they want to pretend it didn't happen, but it did, and they were there. Always will be.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 12:06 PM) Martin put WAY too much into book 3 and then nothing in 4 or 5. I have to say though, they've done a good job at cutting the fat off. Not having Davos sit in a cell for 2-3 episodes was a good decision. As was getting the exiled Kings Guard commander (name escapes me) in front of Dany right away. RW is episode 9.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 11:51 AM) Yeah, because scholarship athletes are required to pay their own medical bills. I can't tell how serious you are with this, but if so, no they are not. And if medical expenses go over $75K the school has insurance through the NCAA who then takes over.
  12. Jeff Goodman ‏@GoodmanCBS 21m Kentucky announces Willie Cauley-Stein to return to school and Archie Goodwin is headed to NBA Draft.
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 11:36 AM) Just because its commonly accepted, does not mean that it is true. It was commonly accepted the Earth was the center of the universe. I dont even know how you would prove or disprove this. Who is even Jesus? Are we just saying that at one point there was some Jewish guy making trouble and he was crucified? Or are we saying that a verifiable deity existed. If its the former, sure, a bunch of Jews have been murdered by the Romans, and I suspect even a few were killed for causing the Jewish establishment trouble. If its the latter, Im not so sure. But that is why its a difficult argument, first people have to define what they mean by "commonly accepted that he was a real person." All three major western religions vary on who he was and on his importance, but they all are in agreement on his existence. I never studied much from that time period but I know that the majority of scholars agree on his probably existence.
  14. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 11:25 AM) Well obviously I don't know the intricacies of the film business, it's just my preference for s3 to be complete rather than split (and I'm not saying in 13 episodes, but longer). And GRRM is one of the greatest and most frustrating writers. I really wish HBO didn't agree to air some side projects of his and just tell him to finish A Song of Fire and Ice and then let's talk. SoS has so much going on there was no way they could fit it into one season and do it the justice it deserves. RW will be episode 9. Think of all that happens after that. . Finishing up Storm of Swords is going to take up at least half of Season 4
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 11:14 AM) is that picture of him in the hospital bed holding the trophy available in the media? I don't know but look when the account was created and look at some of the tweets. One is a retweet of one of those "for every RT $1 will be donated to Kevin Ware's medical bills". Some sketchiness there.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 11:12 AM) Dang...that would have been a fun trip. Go to DC (where I've never been) and caught a Sox game vs. the Nats. Yeah I was planning on driving down if it was a weekend series but not for games Tue-Thur
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 10:17 AM) 1B? That's interesting. If he slides to 1B, he'd better develop some power. Kanny just tweeted that link as the correct roster - that is the one. If it was the winter one, it wouldn't have Brennan, the Johnsons, etc. A few head-scratchers on that roster... --Who is playing 1B? Ravelo sliding over, or Zac Fisher? --Buddy Bell had said the Brennan-Beck-Hansen group would move together... apparently not. Beck is at A+, Brennan at A-, not sure where Hansen is. --Offensively, that is not a real strong unit. Ravelo, Micah Johnson are the only two guys probably worth watching. Maybe Kiser. --On the pitching side though, some fun names. Olacio, Brennan, Leyer, Hardin, Kibby, Jaye and Gunter all worth keeping an eye on. Looks like the rotation will be Brennan, Olacio, Kibby, Jaye and Leyer. Although there is that rumor about Lopez as well. I'd keep an eye on Jason Coats too. He was projected to be drafted in the top 10 rounds prior to tearing his ACL. Worth watching.
  18. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 09:40 AM) Yeah! Over/under on number of posts before someone declares the season dead? I'm surprised it didn't already happen in ST
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 09:14 AM) Chris Sale's elbow blown up in microwave this morning, details at 1 Not funny.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 31, 2013 -> 09:18 PM) fixed It's pretty commonly accepted that he was a real person. You can argue about what he means, his life and his actions (or lack thereof) all you want, but his existence itself isn't really much in question
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 09:45 AM) The account may not be, but that picture is Yeah I didn't mean to question that, but the account itself I highly doubt is real
  22. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 12:31 PM) Those were some savage f***ing teenagers. Look, I already know what's being said here. "HAHA p**** CANT WIN A FIGHT WITHOUT A GUN", "START A FIGHT, LOSE, THEN GET UPSET ABOUT IT AND PULL A GUN?! HAHA GUN OWNERS ARE LOSERS"... but hey when wifey came out strapped the teens stopped pummeling the dude. It ended the fight, suddenly everyone turned polite (relative to what it was before, with the punching and all) and it ended with a couple black eyes* as opposed to what could've been pretty nasty injuries considering the way that guy was getting smacked around. Guns worked, not the most ideal set of circumstances but it defused the f*** out of that situation. *Yea someone discharged a round. Looks like the dude did, that was stupid and should result in charges. Oh please. I'm a full supporter of gun rights but that's BS. The dude followed the teens home, got out and confronted them and threw the first punch. He got what he deserved. The teens were done once they threw him to the ground. That's when the wife came out with the gun. Pulling the gun out only would have made that situation worse. Both of those people should lose their gun privileges forever. I am a strong proponent of gun ownership but I also feel strongly in responsible ownership and that video proves that those two are not responsible.
