  1. Thompson and Sanchez have put up nice numbers to start the year out of the Barons' pen too. While some of the hitters have been off to disappointing starts, a lot of our pitchers have had promising starts to the year at least
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 04:53 PM) LOL OMG A-ROD TRIED TO PURCHASE THE DOCS THAT PROVED HE'S A CHEAT According to Michael S. Schmidt of the New York Times, MLB has uncovered evidence that a representative of Alex Rodriguez arranged to purchase documents from Biogenesis. https://twitter.com/MichaelSSchmidt/status/...808371520614400
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 03:09 AM) I've read comps to Shelby, Jr., Willie Harris, Danny Richar...we'll see. LOL. So basically you're just throwing three different guys out there and hoping one fits?
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) Ha, I had no idea that Ragnar was based on a real person. I thought it was all made up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragnar_Lodbrok
  5. Gunner Kiel transferring to Cincinnati. Big get for that program
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 11:09 PM) Every time I see this I just die inside a little Maybe shaved llamas are more your speed
  7. Kentucky adds Dominique Hawkins to their recruiting class, which makes 8. Isn't ranked on the major lists but was named Mr. Basketball in Kentucky. Not sure how many minutes he expects to get. His other offers were from Purdue, South Carolina, Morehead St, Western Kentucky and Tennessee Tech.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 11:16 AM) I'm hoping it is a series, because I am pretty sure he called one of the guys who pledged fealty to him "Leif". Problem with the connection I see you drawing is there is a couple hundred year time gap between the two of them
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 09:45 AM) Totally agree, that was the best season finale on the best season of the show so far. My wife and I were mad that they didn't say anything about Jimmy, and I get that the writers probably wanted to keep their options open going forward, but the more I think about it the more it's pretty obvious he's gone. I think we're used to major characters getting a "send off" when they die. Though it wouldn't surprise me if he comes back late next season or in later seasons. That makes the most sense for Fiona - move on, get in a good, new relationship, and then have Jimmy come back and screw it all up. Yeah that's what I'm worried about. He's already done the come's back out of nowhere bit. I just wish it would have been shown that he was dead. I don't want the writers to have the ability to just bring him back at some point now because they can. The entire time Fiona was wrapping up her last call to him and her walking in the house, I kept picturing the scene cutting away to a shot of the lake and going under water.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 12:12 AM) Shameless finale was f***ing superb. I hated that Jimmy's fate was basically not touched upon at all. And I'm also worried the show might be losing characters. I haven't seen or heard anything but with Ian, Lip, Jody/Karen all leaving Michigan it sets up an exit plan for them.
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 04:46 PM) I wasnt sure if there were or not. People were talking about things about John Snow and 2/3rd dragon, that I dont remember or recall at all being mentioned in the tv show. I have no frame of reference for it, so its not a terrible spoiler at this point. Now this could be just that I dont remember it, but I am pretty sure there has been no discussion whatsoever about this (even the idea of multiple dragons, etc?). Just more wanted to ask if people who read the books and are speaking about things that are from the future, could use spoiler tags. . Isn't even mentioned in the TV show so I doubt how much it matters.
  12. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 04:12 PM) It should be in spoiler then. Anything that is information that has not been in the tv show should be a spoiler. Its just common courtesy. It has been. I asked if we could spoiler things for a day or two in here a while back, just like the films thread and was shot down. And the TV show isn't even following the books exactly anyways, same as Walking Dead (although it is closer).
  13. Fitting ending. Hopefully the next series goes a little better for De Aza
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 03:29 PM) Kind of sucks that people post things about GOT books in a television thread. Maybe a books thread would be a better place? It's a wildly popular television series connected to a popular and more encompassing book series. You're going to get cross conversation when stuff like that comes up. Just gonna have to deal with it
  15. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) Didn't he go until about august without doing that last year? Only 1 GIDP last year and it came on PA # 572
  16. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 02:57 PM) I don't think you can have a nightmare start less than 2.5 games into the season. He's looked and been about as bad as possible through the first 2.5 games of the season. Same thing.
  17. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) Didn't he go until about august without doing that last year? I think it was September actually
  18. Ugh. De Aza is having a nightmare start to this season
  19. Same lineup Doug Padilla ‏@ESPNChiSox White Sox vs Royals 4/4: De Aza 8, Kepp 5, Rios 9, Dunn DH, Konerko 3, Viciedo 7, Ramirez 6, Flowers 2, Beckham 4. Floyd pitches.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 10:09 AM) I agree. Book 3 was the peak. Since then it's been downhill. I think that's mainly due to the fact that nothing has happened the last 2000 pages (4 and 5). Did anyone else watch the grantland video with Andy Greenwald interviewing the two writers of the show? They were telling the story of how they sold Martin on doing the show at HBO as opposed to a movie, and apparently they spent hours and hours talking about the books and the various storylines. Martin at one point asked them who they thought was Jon Snow's mother, something that's never been brought up in the books. Apparently they answered correctly although Martin didn't really tell them they were right, he just sort of seemed happy with their answer. Anyway, I got to looking online and the fan speculation about that is pretty off the wall. I have no idea where/how people came up with the common answer. Nor does it really make any sense to me: http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Jon_Snow
