QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 06:56 AM) Would have... but not anymore. I think that's what he was getting at. Scott Stapp would be in the show in a second, in all his drunken glory. Alter Bridge probably wouldn't. I guess that would be fine though and fit with the theme of the show. A good band would avoid the show, while the crap would gladly show up. Chris will be fine. Fine a Country tune along the lines of "Wanted Dead Or Alive" and his voice will be fine and everybody will praise him again on making a song his own. Country is too easy to use his voice with. You want it tough on him, do Disco. Country is still Rock, no matter how you cut it and it's EASY to blur those lines.

Oh, and it was funny to see Simon say "Creed wouldn't be caught dead on this show". Who the hell is he kidding??? Creed would have blown their way to get onto that damn show. Yeah, Creed, the pinnacle on music integrity and the high point of "underground". Prove to us a little more about how all these judges know about is "Pop", please.

That was Simon covering his own ass for praising Chris on his "originality" the week before. Just as in the pre-song interview Chris got the chance to make it sound as if he worshipped Live, which makes him look better for having used their version of the Cash song. But both he and Simon looked like idiots after last week, so now Simon had to do something to save face. He read all the anti-Chris stuff, so he had to jump on the bandwagon. As for Bucky, I think the power of Country music in the country will keep he and the pickled idiot around for a few more weeks. Ace will fall before Kellie. But country and the whole "redneck" thing is so dang big right now and that's what will keep them alive. Next weeks show will suck terribly. Modern commercial country, with the exception of a Cash or friggin' Patsy Cline song for 60 minutes. Boy, hopefully somebody (Bucky) will do something from the godawful "Big & Rich"! Lets see American Idol get some REAL guts and show they really care about talent and pull in friggin' Hank Williams III to perform on results night! Hopefully he'll show up drunk and puke all over Paula. Hell, he'd probably steal her pills.

I am so sick of people like Whitney giving crack a bad name.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) $70 bucks. That is outrageous. They ain't cheap man. Also, if you don't want to be treated rude, you better plan on tipping. No tips leads to some surly strippers from what my buddies tell me. They get mean, and they get uglier than they already are.
-
I registered. Made me feel like an American. I then proceeded to field phone calls from every single branch of the military for the next two years. I stopped by a strip club one night. I saw the entry fee, choked. I saw the minimum drink limit, and then asked the price. $10 for a coke. I did the math, it would have costed about $70 just to get in. I laughed. I left. I've never been to such an establishment, and I am now closing in on 36. Your local Quickie Mart (or whatever) has a fine selection of magazines you could possibly buy now. As long as they don't lecture you. That was another thing I did right away back then. Stopped in, asked for a copy of...I think it was Oui or Chic, and the guy behind the counter (the owner, BTW) decided I was in need of lecturing. It ended with me explaining to him I was just buying one magazine for kicks, he on the other hand was selling them and making a profit on them, so who was at the greater wrong.

Who did the original version of Taylor's song?
-
Extremely bored. But I've been at the point where I want Taylor to just get booted so that he can hit the studio and record and I can stop watching this damn show. The only thing surprising to me is how far Paris has fallen in my eyes. She bugs the heck out of me and I find her terrible on stage. For as much as I liked Chris in the beginning, I am now sick to death of him and it is pissing me off that those idiots behind the desk are thinking he is great for the style. In all reality Chris is not known in the Metal world because he is a decent singer, not a great one in the style. Pepper Keenan from Corrosion Of Conformity is a prime example of a brilliant voice for the style that Chris is in. Almost anybody in that style that is signed is worlds better than Chris. Chris is good enough to be a local guy in a bigger city. It's a shame to think that somebody as mediocre as him is going to walk away with a contract, and so many others who are better will still be trying.

Nikki was damn near a God to many people such as myself. His influences in music go way deeper than any success he ever achieved. The amount of respect he had from fellow musicians and from his peers was ridiculous. The passing of Nikki is devastating to many of us, as it's one more light in the world of true Rock n Roll that has been extinquished long before his time. But he lived the life, and his body probably had just had enough. The man toured all the time, and played live all the time. Recently he made a very rare trip to the US, and it was made even more rare by it being backed by a full band and doing it electric. I was hit by a 102 degree fever, so I had to miss it. One of the few times in my life I am beaten with regret. From Billboard.com www.nikkisudden.com for any more info, if you have a desire to learn a bit about a truely original guy, and somebody who followed his heart and stayed true to his heart for his entire 49 years on this planet. To paraphrase Ian Hunter: Nikki is an aquired taste, but if you have taste, you'll aquire his stuff.

In like a Lion... March 06 Quotes of the Month

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) A fun exchange in the WBC Championship thread. If I had to guess, it'd be something like, "Japani beisbol." I thought comments like that were no longer allowed? Hmmm, guess I was wrong. -
QUOTE(MEANS @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 10:50 AM) liked her better as a red head, she almost looks like Liz Phair in those photos. Exactly what I thought, and that ain't a good thing for her.

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) I may be the only one, but I actually think she is that dumb. I don't think it's an act. Jessica you can tell had a few beers in her six pack, but this one... I don't even think she made it in the liquor store. There's enough stuff coming out about Kellie to let you realize how much of an act it all is. Her bit about never performing live is BS, as she placed second in a local version of American Idol and was even on TV already. Come on, how many people (over the age of 10) have never heard of friggin' salmon before? Bucky is not an act, Kellie though adopted Bucky's naive side and went wild with it. She saw it working for him. Isn't it funny how the one week we saw Bucky trying to adjust to the big city and it's crazy foods, and all of a sudden the very next week we have Kellie doing the same routine, but in an exaggerated form?

Borrowing a wonderful quote from another thread. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 09:37 AM) Wow. Who doesnt like boobs? Back to the topic: I am continually amazed at the stupidity of people. I know how much the human race sucks, but it still never amazes me.

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) Wow. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11957836/ Family lost 17 days rationed food, told jokes ‘I’m so proud of my family ... they didn’t lose it,’ says man of camper ordeal Updated: 11:31 a.m. ET March 22, 2006 GLENDALE, Ore. - Inside their snowbound RV, the family’s supplies and fuel were running low, and news reports indicated that a search for the six missing relatives had been called off. “We had fuel and food but we were running short. We were rationing,” said Elbert Higginbotham, one of the missing. The family decided to send two members out for help, hoping to end more than two weeks trapped in the snowy wilderness. It worked. On Tuesday, 17 days after they first vanished during a trip to the Oregon coast, they were rescued. More at link Wow! There are still 6 people in this world WITHOUT cell phones!

QUOTE(SouthSidePride05 @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 10:52 AM) The version of "I Walk the Line" that Chris sang last night was NOT his own. The band, Live, recorded the exact same version, which can be found on 2 cds, including Live's "Awake", Their Best Of Cd. I couldn't believe the judges were saying they were glad he made it his own. It was a complete karaoke version of Live's "I Walk the Line" including every single note. That's funny!!! About half way into the song my wife commented on how much he sounded like the guy from Live!

At first I liked Chris, but anymore I am tired of his "one trick pony" crap, and the simple fact that there are already a ton of his style voice out there in the world, and most of them better than he is. He has a good voice, but in the Nu Metal world, there are a ton better. Taylor, my favorite, was a flop last night. He was good, but the song was a bad choice, and I even LOVE that song, and Buddy Holly. Bucky was not that bad if you listen to him again. He suffered from a terrible arrangement of the song. The music was too weak behind him and his gravel voice. Where the piano was coming in, it needed to be a big distorted guitar. Vocally though he was fine. I get tired of the judges praising the singers for "bringing their own style to it". Every single song is arranged and worked out by the band and the vocal coaches, the singers have no part in any of it. Typical major label BS. Chris had no part in that version of "Walk The Line" other than being a monkey and doing what they were telling him to do. Simon praising him for "not compromising"? Bulls***. If he wasn't compromising there is no way he would have done all of these dang ballads. Even his Fuel crap was mellow radio friendly junk. Lets see him pull off soem true modern Metal, something from Superjoint, something from the recent Judas Priest, or get REALLY gutsy pull out something really unknown to this country. Plus, if you are picking songs that have been previously "O.K.'ed" by the friggin' producers and judges, how "uncompromising" can you really be? And what was that no talent ass clown Constantine doing there? Shouldn't somebody have run his ass over with a steamroller by now?

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 03:11 PM) Seriously, my daughter's name is Ceili (pronounced 'kay-lee')... Cool! My daughter and yours have the same name. Though mine is spelled "Kayleigh". Named after one of my favorite bands biggest hits. I know somebody is a fan of the band if I see the same spelling. I'm pretty sure there is no other name that uses so many different spellings. I know of 5 so far.

Anybody see the video on CNN with the phone call? The guy shows no signs of remorse as to what he just did, and doesn't seem to really connect with what HE did was wrong. Rather, it was just a reaction to all the bad stuff done to him.

Adding a son will bring sanity!?! I better have a word with my son when I get home. Things only got wackier with his addition. Congrats on the new addition!!! Give 'em all instruments and you can form a heck of a Power Trio!!! THE NEW CREAM!

My father in law is Mick. Short for Michael. He was born and raised in the US and has a heritage that goes back to Germany a long time ago. My name is Kid, short for Kidwhoopinstein. It's Antarctican, on my sisters side. My parents though are from France and I'm from a Leper colony in the Indian Ocean. We met on MySpace.

That John Stevens has a new album out called "Red". Surprisingly enough, his time after the show seems to have done him decent, as it sounds pretty good. It's what you would expect, mellow standards, but his voice has improved. It doesn't sound full of studio trickery either, so I would just expect he has been working on it.
