  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) Jenks faced a couple of minor league players in that game, which helped him find a rhythm. One of those so-called "minor leaguers" that you speak of hit a game winning two run homer off Troy Percival tonight to beat the Tigers. Just thought I'd give you the report.
  2. The more I think about it... Unless there is more to this that we don't know, I think the Rox can get more than Zach Day and JJ Davis and Cash for Preston Wilson. With Kotsay just resigning with OAK, that leaves alot of teams out there that will need to turn their attention to a guy like Wilson.
  3. The Nats are in the ninth inning right now against the Phillies... I would expect a deal to be announced at the end of this game if in fact there is a deal.
  4. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) Could be, but I think this board has a natural and somewhat likeable tendancy to overrate Chris Young and other prospects. Not raining on a parade here but Chris Young strikes out a lot and a big hole in the swing tends to get exploited. totally agree with your thinking, but I for sure want to hang on to Young. I have close ties to someone with an NL Organization... He tells me teams are focused on Young from the Sox even more than B. Anderson. They feel Young has power potential that is just now starting to come out. My guess would be Sweeney would go before Young and Anderson.

  6. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) They've got to be just looking at the numbers. Explain it to them this way, Zach Day = Kirk Saarloos Exactly Cheat... or maybe its just that everyone is spoiled by the likes of Buehrle, Garland, Garcia.
  7. Those of you who are against this... have you seen Zach Day pitch, or are you just looking at the numbers?
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) Why Zach Day!?! KW is dissapointing me with the Ted Lilly and Zach Day talk. Hopefully this trade doesnt happen unless there is a 2nd and bigger trade involved for us. I would welcome Ted Lilly or Zach Day here is a second. I don't look at this as "THE MOVE"... This would be a move to improve this team. We don't have a healthy 5th starter right now. Bring on any trade that improves this team.
  9. How about: Nats Get: Preston Wilson White Sox Get: Zach Day Rockies Get: JJ Davis(from Nats), Willie Harris, and Jeff Bajenaru (from Sox)
  10. I would welcome Day to the Sox. I would like it even more if we were able to add two arms like Day and Kennedy.
  11. While Day is not a Savior... at this moment in time, he would be a better option than McCarthy. Day would be nice insurance for El Duque, and Day has pitched out of the pen for the Nats this year too. The guy we should have jump on was Claudio Vargas. The Nats let him go and the DBacks grabbed him. I like his stuff.
  12. Zach Day is a decent young arm. Maybe a trade or some time with Don Cooper would be just what he needs.
  13. TSN's Ken Rosenthal is reporting that Preston Wilson will be traded to the Nationals for Zach Day and J.J. Davis if the Rockies agree to pick up enough of Wilson's salary. Wilson could also block the trade or at least hold out for an extension, since the Nationals are on his no-trade list. That Wilson is an obvious downgrade from Ryan Church based on this year's numbers makes this look like a loser for the Nationals. However, they don't view Day or Davis as pieces of their future. Day would make a lot of sense in Coors Field, and his presence would make it easier for the team to trade Joe Kennedy and Shawn Chacon. Davis might get much of an opportunity with the Rockies
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) But he sucks in the field. Totally Agree. I wouldn't be surprised if we never saw Dubois in the Majors again. Sure the dude can occasionally hit a bomb, but he makes every play in left difficult.
  15. Patterson and Dubois sent down. Dubois is a scrub, it doesn't surprise me... but this Patterson crap is nuts. What are the Cubs doing? Why Now??? If they are this low on him... why didn't they trade him 2 months ago when people were asking about his availability? I personally think Patterson needs a change... and that there is just way too much pressure put on him from the Cubs and their fans. I hope they trade Patterson... then he turns into Lou Brock II. (Thats not gonna happen, but I can hope.)
  16. Here comes the Twins down 1 run... runners on 2nd, 3rd, 1 out. Fly Out, Tag Out at home trying to score... YES Goin to the bottom of the 8th, Halos 7 Twins 6
  17. Angels add another run 7-5 now. Go Halos.
  18. His bullpen blows... no ways around it. I don't care if he wants to have two of them pitch at the same time... He isn't gonna resurect that mess of a pen no matter what he tries to do.
  19. From Rotoworld: Casey Fossum won't start Wednesday. After watching his bullpen struggle again tonight, manager Lou Piniella said he plans to use a reliever initially and then bring in Fossum later on. ''I've made up my mind and that's what we're going to do,'' Piniella said. ''People are going to think I'm crazy, but we're just going to try it. Starting tomorrow, I'll bring in whatever reliever I feel like starting the game with, and I'll bring my starter in in the third inning and we'll play nine innings of baseball that way.'' We don't think you're crazy, Lou. You're just a bad manager. Piniella didn't announce who would start in place of Fossum. This latest scheme isn't likely to survive the All-Star break, assuming it even makes it through the night. Jul. 6 - 12:25 am et
  20. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) Twins are going to lose 2-1 Angels and KRod is on the mound Can you go knock on some wood... Error by the Halos gives the Twins new life.
  21. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) Is it really good news that Duque is coming off of the DL? If healthy... My answer is Yes.
