  1. The Sox are on the hook for 4 years of Thome @ 8 million a year. I think that is a very fair price for Thome.
  2. If people are mad about trading Haigwood and Gio... Get over it. It could have been Young, Owens, B. Anderson, BMac, or even Contreras... but it wasn't. GO SOX!
  3. Gio Gonzalez and Daniel Haigwood are the two prospects in the deal.
  4. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) And the Red Sox will be happy with this deal for the exact opposite reason as the Marlins -- the Red Sox want to win now, not 5 years from now. I agree with you... but not all teams have money to burn like the Red Sox and Yankees. The Marlins payroll will be 3 times less than the Red Sox. This is the business side of baseball. The Marlins have to make things work for their situation. I like the two prospects that they got, and they get another minor leaguer too.
  5. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) I think you guys are way wrong. A steal for the Sox. If this were a fantasy trade, all the other owners would vote it down. This is bulls*** and I'm really pissed about it. Its one thing when the Yanks and the Sawx buy talent via FA but when they buy it like this it upsets me more. f*** But this isn't fantasy baseball... this is real life. They are using real money and real players. The Marlins are looking to cut their payroll in half, and just got off to a tremendous start. Do you realize how much money Mike Lowell makes for the stats he puts up? I don't care if they have to pay half of the money owed to Lowell... he was a killer to their payroll. And as far as Beckett goes... the guy is living off of his performance in the 2003 Playoffs. He is a bonehead made of glass that is very blister-prone. While I think H. Ramirez might need another year of atbats in AAA... I think that in 5 years from now, he will be the best player in this deal. Sanchez seems to have a bright future too. I think the Marlins will be happy with this deal 5 years from now (very happy).
  6. Josh Beckett is headed to Boston. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2232211
  7. Done Deal. Trade with the Red Sox is set. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2232211
  8. At the top of this article from WhiteSox.com, you can view the opening to the World Series DVD. Looks pretty good. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws
  9. Thanks for the backing guys. I just share what I am told.
  10. I can tell you that I am very close to someone involved in baseball, and this is what has been told to me. Take it or leave it... just letting you know what I have been told.
  11. Tampering? GM Meetings just took place. A lot of things were talked about... this was one of them.
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) ...and why would Florida want Rowand? Florida has made it clear that they have interest in three players on our Major League Roster... Marte, Contreras, and Rowand. A trade of adding Rowand allows the Marlins to have a cheaper/new alternative to Pierre in center. Pierre will be dealt, if not during the offseason... before the trade deadline. The Marlins are supposedly trying to cut their payroll in half (YIKES). If I had to bet on one player getting traded this offseason, it would be Damaso Marte (but we would need to add another lefty first). If that doesn't happen, I see Rowand as next in line to be dealt.
  13. Standing Ovation for Geoff Blum. Thank You Very Much Geoff "Mr. 14th Inning" Blum.
  14. I think the Sox will go higher than the 4/52 offer that is out there, but I am hearing they may not have to. I have been told that the Los Angeles Dodgers, not the Angels could be the biggest competitor for Paulie, but that all depends on if they decide to trade Jeff Kent.
  15. Kris Honel actually lives in my neighborhood. I saw him on Saturday and he is doing really good. He said he feels great, and can't wait to start fresh this season. He made no mention to the thought of getting picked up in the rule 5 draft. I really think he will boucne back strong this year... hopefully its in the White Sox organization.
  16. Paul Konerko is gone. He wants 6-7 years, and the Sox will only go four. I would think if they could agree to go 5, then things would be good to go, but KW is stating he will absolutely not go more than 4 years. Things are looking bad for PK to be back.
  17. I honestly see this as a two horse race between us and the Angels. I don't think the BoSox will be a player, and I don't see anyone else as being able to afford him. Man this could be a lot of money to put into one player.
  18. From Rotoworld: Agent Craig Landis said Paul Konerko is seeking a deal of six or seven years, possibly including a strict no-trade clause. "Paul wants a long deal. He wants to spend the second half of his career with a team for the entire time," Landis said. "He doesn't want to be moving around. He wants to settle into a community and buy a house." Landis revealed that the Angels, who are expected to be among Konerko's biggest suitors, have already made contact with him. "They contacted me a couple of days ago to say they are interested," he said. "That's all they said, to officially let us know. They are interested and will be talking to us at a more appropriate time." Nov. 3 - 4:24 am et Source: Riverside Press-Enterprise
  19. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) JD you helped me and now I will try and help you...I will ask my dad if you can have the extra ticket we have I will let you know tommorrow That would be great man. Please let me know. Thanks.
  20. Does anyone have an extra ticket for Soxfest available for me to buy. I am looking for help here. I have gone down and stayed at the Hyatt every year since 2000, and as of now I can't even get in the door. Please help me out... I will return the favor.
  21. If you bought your tickets through ticketmaster by credit card, ticketmaster will take care of everything for you. They say to allow up to four weeks for this process to take place, but it usually happens pretty fast. All the information you need for reassurance should be on the back of your ticket.
  22. I have the "big official tickets", not the ticketmaster or ticket fast print out. The ticket is in great condition, I would be looking for one in the same.
  23. Anyone wanna trade World Series Ticket Stubs? I have an extra from Game 2 of the World Series... Looking for Stubs from Games, 1 or 3, or 4. Thanks.
  24. A must add is Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out for a hero." Game 2, ALCS, Priceless.
