  1. Figured I'd bump this back up to the top with the news on El Duque. I don't want to have to depend on McCarthy for this year. Make a deal to acquire another Starter.
  2. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) agreed. he's an average NL guy at best. he got lit up in the World Series by the Yankees. and now that i think about it, he looked awful against them a few days ago with Pittsburgh. he stinks. and just exactly who is he going to replace in the rotation? Redman gave up 2 earned runs in 6 2/3 against the Yankees... if that is awful, I'd take that any day of the week.
  3. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) Redman is one of those guys who is traded every year that might help a good team make the playoffs, but won't help them win in the playoffs. Kind of like Jeff Suppan to Boston, etc. If we acquire someone, I hope its someone useful in the playoffs because Redman wouldn't start for us in the playoffs. We could use him as a lefty out of the pen. This brings up another point. Contreras has pen experience but is better than El Duque as a starter. My point being that "big game" Hernandez might be of little use in October Redman was in the rotation for the Marlins Championship Season.
  4. You say they don't need another SP right now... but its only June, and I don't want to have to depend on Brandon McCarthy. Why wait until El Duque gets hurt?, or until the Trade Deadline when everyone in contention is going to be looking for pitching?
  5. This is just me thinking out loud. With all the talk about trades, and ways to improve the Sox, there is one move I want the Sox to make that I think can be the difference maker. Of course the Sox could try and trade for Roger Clemens, or Barry Zito, or Eric Chavez, etc... BUT I am talking about a trade that is more realistic. The player I want the Sox to acuire is Mark Redman. Redman is a good left hander who gets the job done. He doesn't have dominating stuff, but has been solid the past 2 1/2 years. My only concern would be that Redman struggled for the Twins and Tigers (in the AL) early in his career, and is now looking good in the NL. I am willing to take the chance. I don't think Redman would come cheap, but at the same time I don't think he would cost the farm. *This would also be a way to get the coveted Rob Mackowiak to the South Side. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?statsId=6285
  6. I can't believe this ending... I would be sick if I was an Angels Fan. What a Huge Oppurtunity. Only 1 Out Left.
  7. I don't think a trade for Griffey would be as dumb as many of you think. Sure we have a lot of OF/DH players right now... but depending on what the Reds want for him, I wouldn't mind seeing a deal. The Reds won't need big time prospects for him, and they would probably pay a bit of his salary. With Frank gone next year, and most likely Carl as well, I would welcome this move. Sure we have greater needs... but I am for making this team stronger in whatever ways that we can.
  8. I love Hee Sop Choi. Thanks Dodgers.

  10. How can the answer to this not be Aaron Rowand. Aaron Rowand has to be one of the most underrated players in baseball.
  11. Brewers designated RHP Gary Glover for assignment. Glover had given up nine runs in 4 2/3 innings since being pulled from the rotation, leaving him with a 6.30 ERA. The Brewers will likely give Glover's bullpen spot to Mike Adams once Damian Miller is ready to play. Might not be a bad option. Might not be a good option.
  12. Has anyone seen this kid pitch in person? I hear so much about him, and can't wait to see him in the bigs. When do you think he will get called up?
  13. The Texas Rangers select Cesar Carrillo. One Loss in his College Career. (COME ON PEOPLE, THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE SOX PICK)
  14. With the 17th pick in the draft, the New York Yankees select high school SS, CJ Henry, out of Oklahoma City, OK. The Yankees had been targeting Matt Torra out of UMass, but the Marlins pulled the carpet out from under them on that one. Henry reminds the Yankees of current Yank Gary Sheffield, adding more fuel to the fire of them moving him from SS to the OF.
  15. I heard Garland wants to fight AJ, cause AJ yelled BOO-YAH when Kevin Mench hit the blast off of him in Texas.
  16. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 08:28 AM) There is no way the Twins will be asking for Rafael Furcal. He is going to be a free agent and the Twins won't be able to afford him. They would most likely be trading Jacque Jones to the Braves for Andy Marte and/or Wilson Betemit. If the Braves make a deal for Jacque Jones that involves Andy Marte fans should burn Atlanta down. The only way Marte should be traded is if you are getting a top flight player... not a guy like Jacque Jones.
  17. Scouts and other baseball people think the Angels might have recalled first baseman Casey Kotchman to showcase him for potential trades. The player the Angels are most interested in acquiring is the Kansas City Royals' Mike Sweeney, and the Royals could use Kotchman at first base for years at a bargain-basement price. I could really see this happening.
  18. Watching the game tonight, Morse got to pinch hit with 2 outs and a runner on third. He struck out swinging, but he was probably just nervous. Best of luck Mike.
  19. http://www.thenewstribune.com/sports/marin...p-4499356c.html This should be interesting.
  20. I feel bad for the kid. From Rotoworld: Mariners optioned catcher Miguel Olivo to Triple-A Tacoma. Olivo had been 3-for-26 since his big game two weeks ago, and manager Mike Hargrove expressed concern that his troubles at the plate were beginning to distract him from his catching. If you ask us, hitting coach Don Baylor and the rest of the coaching staff have to take some of blame for getting so little out of Olivo, the shortstops and Adrian Beltre. Raul Ibanez is the team's only regular with a higher OPS than his career mark and he's still down from last year. Olivo will probably be back within a month or so. Pat Borders will get the majority of the playing time now and Wiki Gonzalez could return to split time with him next week
  21. QUOTE(rudylaw @ May 30, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) How do you explain hitting Carl for Iguchi? That was retarded. Our worst hitter curently or our best. Hmmmmmmmmm I wouldn't call Everett the worst hitter on this team, but anyways... Ideas? A. Maybe Ozzie just wanted the lefty matchup versus Shields. B. Maybe AJ had the day off regardless of the situation. C. Maybe Iguchi's head wasn't in the game after the error. D. Maybe Ozzie just wanted to show Carl a little confidence builder since it looks like he is the odd man out with Thomas returning today. No matter what his reasoning was, why second guess? If Everett hits a bomb, everyone is dancing in the streets.
  22. Just saw on Comcast Sports Net, Thomas said he just strained his hip a little due to being a little excited and running extra hard during the game. He says he wanted out because he didn't want to aggrevate it and put him out on the DL for another 2 weeks. Other than that, he feels fine, and he'll just see how he feels for the next game, but he won't be out for any extended period of time.
