Javier Vazquez
There no looking for a FA 1b, there trying to dump extra salary bacause they have to many good players killing them in arbitration. They probably need to cut about 10-12 mil off there budget.

Javier Vazquez
If the 'Spos are looking to dump salary, theres no way they'd want Carlos, who is gonna make something like 3.5 mil this year. Something like Rauch or Corwin Malone, +Harris/Hummel or Stewart for Vazquez and KW would probably give up that much.

Javier Vazquez
Abviously Vazquez has much better stuff, but Byrd won 17 games on KC, and thats hard to do. All i'm saying is i'd rather have Byrd and keep 2-3 good prospects that KW would give up for Vazquez.

Javier Vazquez
Vazquez is better then Byrd, simply because he's 6 years younger, but i'd rather have Byrd at the same money and keep the prospect we'd have to give up. Vazquez has 2 years (this year included) of arbitration, so we'd lose him after 2 years anyway, for those 2 years Byrd will most likely put up similar stats.

Javier Vazquez
If your gonna spend 6 mil, just go and sign Byrd. This way we get a better starter then Vazquez and we get to keep our prospects. But thats a little too complicated for KW, so he'll probably trade for a guy like Vazquez and trade away a future star.

Javier Vazquez
First off JR is in too deep with the Expos, so any deal is unlikely, secondly Vazquez is going to make around 6 mil this year, and that about 6 mil too much for the Sox's.
-
Russ Ortiz available
Those 3 prospects aren't going anywhere, unless Guerrero and/or Colon are involved in that deal.

Was Ritchie Offered Arbitration?
The Royals are rumored to be offering Byrd a 9 mil/2 year deal, so the Sox's would need to come at him with at least 5 mil per year. I think we'll get Daal, then KW will trade for a 3-4 type starter.
-
Starting pitching options
Lets be honest here, the chance of the Soxs getting Byrd are s***. The Braves will be looking for another starter and so will the Phillies, and there gonna pay him a lot more then just 4-5 mil.

Starting pitching options
From what i heard Mendoza will only sign with a team that will use him as a starter.

SN Report: Sox Sign Thomas to One-Year Deal
This is how it works: First Frank get the choice to invoke his option at 6 mil, if he declines, then the Sox's still have a chance to invoke there option at 8 mil, or they could let him go and he becomes a FA.
-
Starting pitching options
I'd like to see the Sox's make a run at Ramiro Mendoza, he says he wants to be a starter, give him a chance. Mendoza, 30, was 8-3 with a 3.44 ERA and four saves, pitching 91 2-3 innings over 62 games.

SN Report: Sox Sign Thomas to One-Year Deal
I'm so happy he's coming back, i couldn't imagine him in another uniform.

SoxNet: Un-Foulke(ing) Believable
I still think its a good deal, we would have lost Keith after this season, but we still have Koch for 3 more.

What needs to happen for WS
I'm with you, Carlos has more offensive potential then anyone we got.

Thomas likely to stay with Sox
Yeah, i think Thomas is gonna have a huge season. When you take 5 mil away from someone, its gonna give them something to be motivated about. He has to make KW look like a little b**** after what he's done to him.
-
What needs to happen for WS
What would have to happen: Every team except for the Sox's would need to have some kinda mysterious plague that wipes out about half the roster.
- Thomas likely to stay with Sox

Arnie Munoz
He pitched in a few spring training games last season, he threw about 90 MPH, but he did have a pretty sharp curve.

KW wont sign anyone, but he'll give up half our farm system for Colon:huh
