Could the Tigers use another outfielder? What if the Cubs trade Alexander Canario to the Tigers for the full rights to retain Gage Workman? I believe the Cubs could then option Workman to the minors, and wouldn’t have to worry about the Rule 5 restrictions. Recently signed Travis Jankowski could be their backup CF and they could call up Workman later in the season if they have any injuries.

Workman looks to be a really good Rule 5 pickup. 25 years old, plays multiple positions, and looks like he can hit. I think he sticks on their roster all year.
