Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread
I’m not trying to spin anything. The article I provided said that he had the support of the team as well as teammates. Meanwhile, you stated that some teammates had a problem with it yet have not posted one article supporting your statement. So who is spinning the story now? Quite honestly, you can’t assure anything since you have provided zero evidence supporting your claim.

Really? Interesting considering he has no social media activity. I would think he would have that in place already if he wanted to be an influencer of any sort.

I guess I’m a rube. What specifically did he receive to attend? What business interests of his were impacted?

His team and teammates essentially said it was okay because he was considerate enough to check with them since he would be missing a game. However, I suspect if someone told you not to attend a funeral for a friend that you were invited to by the deceased's wife because you didn’t know each other long enough, you would rightly tell that person to F off. 🤣

So? Is that for any of us to judge? It’s not like he just attended without permission from his team and the wife of his dead friend actually invited him. Imagine someone telling you that you shouldn’t attend a friend’s funeral. I mean what is going on here?

Apparently WestEddy gets to dictate how long a friendship must last for someone to attend a friend’s funeral. The guy got permission from his team to attend and also made sure his teammates would be okay with him missing the game to attend. But since it wasn’t his mother’s funeral, he shouldn’t even think about attending? Okay… Link:

@TheBooneLoganEra already said it best in his previous post. Good luck.

Then it’s an even worse stance hating on someone over that, rather than thinking he is a bad teammate for missing a game.

The specific scenario we were talking about was a baseball player getting permission from his team and confirming that his teammates would be okay with him missing a game to attend the funeral of his friend. The guy did not potentially commit a crime, which was one of the comparisons made (Clevinger). I don’t feel I need to comment on this any further because quite frankly it’s ridiculous.

Funny to see the Red Sox not beat out the Cubs but their payroll is already much higher. I think the Cubs are projected at around $176 million and Boston is at $243 million.

It’s unfortunate that Matt Shaw did something so grievous to you that you would have to actively root against him if he was ever a member of your favorite team.

Link? Because it appears that @TheBooneLoganEra is correct.

He attended a funeral. For shame.

He played outfield in college and there has been speculation that the Cubs could try him there again with the Bregman signing.

Why are people comparing Bregman to Tucker. Is Tucker going to sign for $175 million?

Shaw wasn’t accused of domestic abuse. He actually didn’t commit a crime at all. I know your post is in jest but no one wants Cowles, not even the Sox.

Reasons that have nothing to do with baseball. He couldn’t stomach playing for a team that is much worse than his current team? Yeah, makes sense.

Yep, in his rookie season. Meanwhile, people were excited about Vargas’s supposed turnaround in his fourth MLB season and he finished with a 1.3 fWAR.

I didn’t say that. If the price is right however… You don’t usually get to acquire another team’s top prospects unless they have some sort of warts. I think he is interesting because he can play 2B and 3B and he could potentially be moved to the outfield. Besides, wasn’t it our “star” CF’er who didn’t even know one of the coach’s names — Charlie Montoyo? Vargas moping around for half a season. You act like the Sox roster is a bastion of amazing team players. I thought only Schriffen truly believed that.

Yep, that’s a massive load to deposit all on one guy.

I think you are right. The Cums may have been better served filling other holes.

I’m not sure I buy that. They love Hoerner and look how quickly they were to make Shaw a bench player. Hoerner put up a 6.2 bWAR and they are never going to get back his worth in a trade.
