  1. Cubs get their version of Derek Hill. Cubs claimed OF Justin Dean off waivers from the Giants. Dean served as a late-game defensive replacement for the World Series champion Dodgers last postseason before being claimed off waivers by the division-rival Giants in early November. The speedy 29-year-old center fielder makes a ton of sense as a bench outfielder for the Cubs since he’s capable of handling all three spots in a pinch.
  2. If he loses a step, and he will, he won’t be putting up 4+ WARs. Whatever team gives him a long-term contract into his 30’s after this season is making a mistake IMO.
  3. @Chicago White Sox is still evil for doing that to poor @caulfield12. I wonder if he is through the initial “shakes” stage of SoxTalk withdrawal and if he has moved on to vomiting?
  4. Besides the fact that the Sox already have one bloated LF/DH salary in Benintendi for two more years that they don’t want, and another $20 million dollar salary in Robert that they have been looking to trade.
  5. Apparently we don’t need @caulfield12 for our Royals news anymore!
  6. Arenado has been on the decline since the 2022 season. Crazy that these old vets can still get acquired, even if their bloated salaries are mostly covered. He’s not going to improve in his age 35 season.
  7. I would have a hard time giving Hoerner a qualifying offer of $22+ million dollars for 2027. I’m sure some team would give him a long-term deal but I would be sweating it.
  8. I’d probably jump all over this if I was the Cubs but they are trying to win now, so they probably won’t move Hoerner. But he’s a FA after 2026 and I would damn sure take advantage of Hoerner’s 6.2 bWAR from last season that I would be shocked if he ever matches again. Then they could just start SoxTalk’s favorite player at 2B.
  9. I’d go over on that, but probably 3 of the 5.
  10. He was already in the process of being hit by the vehicle. He quite literally didn’t have a chance to move out of the path of the vehicle. He thought she had intent to kill him with her vehicle, which is why he fired at her. Her front windshield apparently had a bullet hole in it, proving she wasn’t already past him. Also, how do you even know it was her intent to flee the scene? Maybe she turns around and comes back for more? It’s not as cut and dried as you are trying to portray it. Regardless, the courts will settle this, but I doubt the guy sees any jail time. The videos tell the story.
  11. I think the latest body cam footage from the agent definitely changes the perspective on things. The agent was an Iraq War veteran that earned the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal. Ironically, last June, the same agent had been dragged by an illegal immigrant in his car for 50 yards and he required 33 stitches as a result. The illegal immigrant that dragged the agent had previously been arrested for domestic assault and convicted of sex crimes against an underage teenager.
  12. Tray, no skirting the filter. Naughty naughty.
  13. Schriffen won the battle but Benetti won the war by moving on to better opportunities. However, Jerry gets a little enjoyment every time he sees Schriffen eat something neatly.
  14. I feel bad for starting this conversation. Honestly, it was just about the potential for acquiring a guy in Shaw who is now blocked at 3B by Bregman, he can play other positions than 3B in 2B and could potentially be tried in the outfield (LF) since he played it in college. Also, perhaps his trade value is down a bit. Quite honestly, I could care less if he was/is a CK and/or Trump supporter or instead worshipped the triumvirate of Hillary, Biden, and Kamala. In my mind, I separate sports from politics and I don’t see Shaw wearing a CK or MAGA hat while he’s playing in a game. The rumor about him pushing back against swing changes suggested by Cubs coaches is a concern, but not his political leanings.
  15. Does Imai have a rug or is that actually his hair? https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1GE47DXcGW/?mibextid=wwXIfr
  16. That’s crazy and I can see why even the Yankees are balking at that request.
  17. Obviously you are referring to me, and you would be wrong. I liked him as a prospect before I ever even knew about his own personal beliefs. I believe Shaw attended the memorial service in late September. Nice try though.
  18. Part of the thought would be to potentially move him to LF since he played there in college. Benintendi could DH until he is finally gone forever.
  19. Keep #26 far away from him.
  20. Shaw arguably outperformed Vargas in his rookie season last year by some metrics (not all), while Vargas was playing in his fourth MLB season. Shaw is also 2 years younger than Vargas (24 vs 26) and has 2 more years of control. Vargas will be a free agent in 2030. Shaw will be a free agent in 2032.
  21. In that scenario, I assume Marsh moves to CF full-time so they don’t necessarily “need” Crawford? I think that trade makes sense for the Sox and I’d be aboard. Not sure I see the Phillies seriously going after Tucker considering they appear to have the outfield and DH covered already… Castellanos Marsh Garcia Schwarber I believe that’s already a combined $53.2 million dollars in payroll for 2026 for that outfield and DH. I know they want to dump Castellanos but at $20 million remaining for him for 2026, they are probably in a worse position trying to move him than the Sox with Robert.
  22. He lost a ban bet to Chicago White Sox and is sticking to it honorably.
