  1. The BR bleachers were packed in the first half. After the first half blowout and a little drizzle in the second half, a lot of people left.
  2. Your friends are intelligent fans and remind me of many posters here. 🫢
  3. Do the Sox continue to do this to save Jerry some money? What is up with this? They have been doing it for the last few years.
  4. Jimmie Maxson is the 6’4” WR and St. Rita transfer. Tyler Lofton is the big RB transfer from Marian Catholic. They both look legit so far. Unfortunately, they are both seniors so they will be one and done. #9 is LB Charlie Barkmeier and he is pretty good. CJ Gray is the QB and he is a junior. He has gotten so much better throwing the ball since he was a freshman. He used to mostly run but now he is gunning it around. Here is a video of the throw you are referring to: https://streamable.com/3q06o5 It was such a blowout that BR benched their starters after the first half and the refs invoked the 35-point rule and ran the fast clock in the second half, which was great. Here’s the recap… https://www.shawlocal.com/friday-night-drive/2024/08/31/brother-rice-football-cruises-past-phillips-50-0-in-season-opener/
  5. Brother Rice up 43-0 at halftime. This is a rout.
  6. Except Getz acquired Lopez to be the starting 2B from the beginning, not a bench piece. Also, why would you be surprised if Lopez is DFA? His $4.3 million salary is a sunk cost already and Baldwin, Sosa, and Amaya should get most of the at bats in the infield over a guy the Sox are going to non-tender anyways.
  7. DeLoach just turned 26. He is definitely an aging prospect for what the Sox need. It’s the same reason Fletcher was a bad acquisition — too damn old for a team that won’t be competitive for years. And it doesn’t really matter that Santos hasn’t pitched this year. That’s using hindsight. He had value last offseason. If we all knew the future, Getz probably keeps Cease and gets a better return for him than he did last year, because as of right now it looks like he got back a backend starter that may need TJ, a bust outfield prospect, and a decent pitching prospect. The idea to trade these guys was right, but Getz got back a questionable return as usual.
  8. Exactly. Even if a starter has a good outing, the putrid lineup won’t score him any runs.
  9. Are you sure? The draft pick was nice but the player return look like trash. DeLoach is an aging outfielder who apparently has no power and Berroa has a 6+ ERA in the minors. A good GM gets a better return than that for a good flamethrowing reliever with a low ERA, good strikeout rate, and 4 years of control. Like you said, just because the Sox are terrible and didn’t need a quality closer doesn’t mean we should get back sh1t for him. Santos had value, and it seems like only the Sox knew about his injury issues.
  10. Seems like it could be an awesome continuing concert hall and soccer stadium, but not enough people care about soccer.
  11. I don’t get angry anymore. I expect failure. You can name one no doubt successful Getz trade — Robbie Grossman for Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa. I challenge anyone to tell me another no doubt good trade that Getz has made. And even amongst his two good offseason signings (Fedde and DeJong), he traded one of his best trade assets for possibly the worst hitter and fielder in baseball in Miguel Vargas. Like I said, a blind, drunk monkey simply throwing darts at pictures of players taped to a wall would be more successful than the players that Getz supposedly scouts and chooses.
  12. Some more hype pictures for the Brother Rice offensive line led by my son, captain of the OL.
  13. Who knew that kids wouldn’t think they could get away with anything without repercussions for their actions at a young age? Remember, you are the one calling about half the US population child abusers, not me. I have two teenage sons and I did employ spanking when they were younger. Just curious, how many children do you have?
  14. Better than your kid turning into a spoiled brat or even worse, some psycho narcissistic school shooter because his parents never gave him consequences for misbehaving.
  15. Doesn’t matter. Sox will still be eating it all. No team will claim his sorry ass.
  16. How to burn $7.3 million dollars, with one stupid trade… Trade a reliever with value for bums like Lopez and Soroka. Maybe Getz has this documented in his diary for future reference?
  17. Tearing it up in AAA, as usual.
  18. Any irony to the fact that 3 of the 4 players mentioned in the tweet were all on the Sox in the beginning of the season?
  19. I don’t think a 33 year old fourth outfielder is a priority for our terrible team, regardless of his amazing catch last night.
  20. A good GM never trades for him and pays him $4.3 million in the first place.
