3/6 Dodgers @ Sox
Colas can be as happy as he wants. There is no victory unless Colas hits in the majors like he hit in the minors. Otherwise, he’s just another failed Cuban player.

Sox trade Matthew Thompson to Cubs for old friend Bailey Horn
You are going overboard. If the Sox won the division this year or any year, Sox fans would be ecstatic, including the negative fans. The reason there are so many negative Sox fans is because the Sox have only won their mediocre division 3 times in the last 20+ years. Is that good enough for you?

Can the Sox field a competitive team in 2025? Or is 2026 or beyond a better target?
Sarcasm? Or do you think the Sox have a chance at signing Juan Soto, a Boras client, when he hits free agency in 2025 at the age of 27? You have a better chance of winning the lottery.

Giolito to the Red Sox, 2 years $38.5 million, Y1 opt out
Agreed. Acquired for a really nice player in Adam Eaton but it turned out to be probably one of the best trades in Sox history. Giolito was a really good pitcher for the Sox and he also brought back a nice prospect return last year. The Sox sure know when to trade their top pitchers. They must have learned their lesson from the John Danks extension.

But the offense is known and it’s bad.

Great post. I think you nailed it.

More fuel for JR to never sign another big name starter.

I wonder if he’s starting at RG or center. I would guess center since Lucas Patrick is terrible. This tells me that they aren’t drafting OL at #9.

DeJong, Lopez, and Maldonado?

Grifol: DeJong, Lopez, Maldonado are good on offense
Of course they do. Only manager and team in baseball that would start these guys.

3/4 D-backs @ Sox
It’s just so ugly actually seeing it on paper. 44% of the lineup is putrid. It’s even worse if Vaughn doesn’t finally have a breakout season, and is just his usual mediocre self.

This is like hell on earth.

Going to Vegas for the weekend tomorrow...how many wins will the team have this year?
The only way the team hits is if Moncada and Eloy stay healthy and the rest of the players match their career years. The top half of the lineup looks good on paper but the bottom 4 to 5 of the lineup is going to be awful.

I didn’t see this post until I already made mine, but you read my mind.

We never get “legitimate” free agents. If they do spend, it will be more of the same. A bunch of money spread out amongst crappy players. Overpaying more guys like Nicky Lopez and Maldonado.

I have a feeling you will like his posts around 40% of the time this season.

There is no Tanner Banks hate. It’s just that he doesn’t have much of a future with the Sox at 32. He would be the type of guy to trade for a lottery ticket if some other team needs a lefty.

They will just keep kicking the can down the road. If Soroka is good in the first half, they will trade him for a pitching prospect. JR enjoys giving pitchers 3+ year deals as much as my dad enjoys a prostate exam.

These two things aren’t weighted equally. We have seen many more years of bad baseball than good to serve as evidence that no one should be loyal to JR. And JR has provided more awful years of ownership than good ones to promote fan negativity over positivity.

I don’t believe this. There were definitely cuttable arms. No one would’ve missed Scholtens before he needed TJ surgery and there’s still 32 year old Tanner Banks on the 40-man roster.

3/4 D-backs @ Sox
Yep. Ideally, he breaks out hard and fast before the deadline so they can trade him.

The sad truth is that the biggest and most important day in White Sox history will be when Reinsdorf is no longer owner, regardless of how it happens. It will be more important than any win, trade, or free agent signing.

3/4 D-backs @ Sox
That’s a bottom five that puts more fear into Sox fans than any of their opponents.

You don’t think one of the three receivers will drop to 9? I could see one of the QB needy teams jumping on McCarthy early before 9.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
Multiple good players. Robert isn’t enough to do anything for this team. They aren’t good enough elsewhere, and only have less than a handful of position prospects expected to be worth a damn.
