  1. Richard Lewis, not Dennis Miller. I can’t even look at Cheryl Hines now after her most recent plastic surgery. She looks like a fake wax sculpture.
  2. Canaan Smith-Njigba has an .887 OPS, 3 homers, and 2 stolen bases this Spring. Yes, it’s only Spring Training but Getz couldn’t dare give up a guy like Scholtens or another scrub on the 40-man roster for him.
  3. Latest and final season. Hilarious stuff. I highly advise…

Not sure Wisdom would be the odd man out since they gave him $2.725 million and he’s a nice power bat to have on the bench. But I agree with you. Davis has normally been bad defensively at 3B, but he was pretty good last year. Maybe it was just a fluke year though. But not sure the Cubs could get by with Morel at any spot other than DH and Madrigal swings a wet newspaper.

I think the Cubs should and will be all over Davis at that price and short commitment for their hole at 3B. Christopher Morel has a glove like Sheets. He’s basically a DH. And Madrigal is, well Madrigal.
  6. Any idea on what his fastball was at?
  7. Keller is a known name but he’s absolutely terrible. Check out his hot WHIP over the past three seasons.

It’s amazing. He has done nothing with his bat or glove to make even the dumbest baseball fan think he should be a starting DH, but the Sox seem to think he is a worthy part-time RF. How do these people have jobs?

Good point. He better turn it around. Paying $16.5 for under league average WAR this season would be putrid. Because you know he will stay at the top of the lineup regardless with Grifol around.
  10. 4-11. Almost last place. https://www.mlb.com/standings
  11. True. Further proof that half the starting lineup has no business being starters on an MLB ball club.

After seeing the playing time Sheets has received over the past couple seasons and where he has played, while being awful with both the bat and the glove, I don’t think we can assume the Sox will make the no brainer decision here. The Sox think he’s good because he’s a lefty and is perceived to have power.
  13. Cheap/free Sox tickets being forced on kids is the equivalent of sitting in the corner and staring at the wall with a dunce cap on. ?

    Other teams must envy us…

It will be amazing if both Sheets and Moustakas make the opening day roster, which would indicate that the Sox are indeed this stupid and view him as a RF primarily. Crazy considering Getz is supposed to be Mr. Defense, that he would allow this. I know it’s just Spring Training but why play Sheets in RF if you aren’t going to be willing to do the same during the regular season?
  16. Agreed, it does show how truly awful that Kenny and Hahn were at adding depth, even mediocre backup pitchers. They never had any. Basically, the opening day pitching staff had to stay healthy all season or else the Sox were screwed. And it makes no sense either considering all of these guys can be had for a minor league deal or a couple million.
  17. The irony is how similar the level of success is between the two teams. It shouldn’t be a surprise that JR would want to imitate a team that had a brief window of success, won one World Series, and went back to being perennially bad. The Sox were already the Royals, a decade earlier.
  18. Branch Rickey… viagra to JR’s ears.

Typical Jim Thome fluff. They all have a great swing and can be productive, etc.

  21. No one could believe it because it makes zero sense. If you want to prototype a team, there are much better examples to follow on both sides of the spending spectrum with the Rays and Dodgers. But no, the Sox choose to copy one of the worst teams in baseball. There can’t be a dumber franchise in all of sports.
  22. That’s amazing and embarrassing all at once. The Sox are the only team that would use a perennial loser like the Royals as the prototype for their big front office change and rebuild. The “bad” as Moustakas’s position is absolutely hilarious.
  23. It’s definitely the worst I have ever seen. It think it has the chance to be historically bad.
