Of course but there are plenty of Sox fans who think those guys should be heading the package now.
-
No thanks but I would love to add Kopech to put him in the pen.
-
Show me where anyone has said Elias is “very difficult” to work with. I have never seen that. In fact, Elias is very secretive in these things.
-
Elias isn’t going to do anything moronic. Your GM is in no hurry either. Chances are, Getz is the one holding things up.
-
No because I just don’t care if we have him for more than a year.
-
We don’t need Burnes beyond a year and even if he wanted to sign an extension, I wouldn’t give him one.
-
He doesn’t count. ? In all seriousness, I think he would deal those guys in the right deal..he just doesn’t like Cease.
-
Expiring in terms of value. Like I said, I do think his value could increase if he has a big first half and is dealt at the deadline but that’s a risk and if he doesn’t have a big first half, he’s worth even less. So, the time to optimize his value is definitely expiring.
-
This is correct although I’m not convinced a third player has to be involved.
-
You don’t hold all the cards because you have an expiring asset that you can’t afford to keep on a garbage team going nowhere.
-
Burnes, Cease, Luzardo… to a lesser extent younger unproven, high ceiling guys and Bieber although where he is in a rotation is definitely up for debate.
-
The claims are obvious…do you really think if Getz was getting top 25 prospects thrown at him that he would be sitting around and not moving Cease?
-
I’m assuming the elite guys will pan out. Everything about their profiles says that is the case. And I’m good with teams doing that. Lots of teams do incredibly stupid things all the time. I’m not interested in my team doing moronic things. And btw, you guys assume Cease is going to bounce back and be really good again..that’s a major assumption.
-
Yea, arguing between the 2 is like pissing in the wind. I feel sorry for you guys have Reinsdorf. I personally can’t stand what role he played in breaking up the Bulls in the 90s.
-
Cowser or Kjerstad as a headliner is as good as you guys will get. A top 40ish prospect and higher by some. You aren’t doing better than that. You can dream on it and hope but it’s not happening.
-
The difference between you and us is we have actual competent people running things. Our ownership blows, in terms of spending money on the ML roster, but all the other decision makers are arguably the best in the sport right now. The development is elite. And no, it’s the opposite. If you don’t spend, you need as much cheap talent as possible. And again, nothing I have said or anything else being said by fans is that our top 5 are untouchable.
-
You need to stop putting Mayo on the same level as Kjerstad or Cowser. You have no chance at getting Mayo. He should be starting at first base by May.
-
It’s such a SSS and some of those poor numbers had some bad luck in them. He’s still a high end prospect that will be top 35-40 by almost everyone who does the rankings. Law has never really liked him. He was one of the exceptions.
-
Zero Os fans have their top 5 guys as untouchable. Cease was a frontline guy one year of his career. You seem to think his value should be that right now and that’s just not true. If you guys were looking to trade for Cease with all his red flags and issues, no one here would be advocating to trade top 25 prospects for him. All of that said, the WS have generally showed more of a willingness to spend money than our POS owner has, so that always factors into things.
-
If the desire is to get a pitcher to headline the deal, which is a mistake imo, they aren’t dealing with the Os anyway.
-
It’s not falling. Anyone who says that is putting too much weight on his ML time which was in a SSS. If anyone wants to trade for him with the thought that his value is down, they should just move on to a new player.
-
No..Overlooking his durability issues would be foolish for any team. Holliday will be a 6 WAR type guy soon and Basallo has Yordan Alvarez type upside. He is an absolute beast and is doing it at ages that are incredibly young for his league. There is a fairly good chance he ends 2024 as the top prospect in the sport. There is a solid argument that Basallo has a higher ceiling than Holliday.
-
Oh, I don’t know. It depends on how the first 4 years played out. If he was a definitive age with no durability concerns, I may be ok with putting a Mayo type prospect on the table for him. But Cease isn’t that guy.
-
Lots of intelligence behind this post. ?
-
No one is giving up a prospect better than Cowser. May get a similarly rated guy but not one who is better.
