  1. Plus we each have asshole owners flirting with Nashville although that was never a true worry for the Os.
  2. You don’t consider stimulating conversation as “something happening”? ?
  3. You guys keep saying that as if it’s funny or relevant. The Os took the right shot at Flaherty. I’m glad that’s who they got. It didn’t work out but s%*# happens. Most deadline deals are failures. Would it have been nice to get Montgomery instead? Sure but he just as easily could have sucked too. Lottery tickets and guys in the 10-15 range for us are 2 completely different things. You are trying to lump them together and that’s wrong.
  4. Ok..I didnt read Harold’s comment as anything other than just knowing the teams wants to build with defense more. But maybe you guys know his posting tendencies enough to say he’s letting on more there than just that comment.
  5. It’s not actually true that they have a 40 man crunch coming. What is true is that they have a positional crunch coming.
  6. Again, that’s a wide range and not sure why people keep using that because it just isn’t that logical. And no one is clutching onto them, it’s just why trade them if you don’t have to. If you go to buy a house and you have the best offer, do you bid against yourself?
  7. Like I just said, I think it’s possible there are more than 2 players. I just think using the word definitely is wrong.
  8. They will have a good idea. I think these teams know a lot more about what other teams are willing to do than we think. The bottom line is this…no team is going to pay more than they have to. No one should ever pay more for something than they have to. I don’t care what it is your are buying or trading for. The other aspect to this is can they shop that 2 player package for something else they like and get that deal done with that package. If so, that is probably the way they go. The Os MAY (not definitely) have to trade 3 or 4 pieces but I suspect that if they do, neither Westburg, Cowser or Kjerstad are leading the deal or the 3rd and 4th players are nothing they care about losing.
  9. There won’t definitely be 3 or 4 pieces…if the first 2 pieces are better than anything else out there, there is no need to send more.
  10. Question for you guys. I know you have Montgomery as a very good MI prospect and obviously a lot of you seem good with Ortiz coming back as part of the deal. What if instead of Cowser or Kjerstad, the lead player was Westburg. Would that be ok with you or do you really want an OFer more? Say the offer was Westburg and Beavers or Cowser/Kjerstad and Ortiz. And just for discussion purposes, let’s just say that Getz feels these are the best 2 deals on the table. Which one would you prefer he takes?
  11. I agree..which is why I don’t think he should fetch much more then Cease even though you have the extra year.
  12. That’s a huge range and the Os will have guys outside the top 30 that would be in teams top 20. A prospect ranked 12th by the Os would be top 7 in most systems. This is what I’m talking about. You guys are getting wrapped up in these numbers and rankings but if you are dealing with the Os, things just aren’t equal to the other organizations. Like I have been saying, if Cowser and Ortiz are out there, I highly doubt that deal is getting beat. Now, it’s possible Getz wants a starter headlining the deal and takes a different deal because of it but that doesn’t mean it’s a deal where they are acquiring better or more highly rated players. It just means that they are valuing pitching more. At some point, it makes more sense to trade less to get someone else or to trade a little more and get Luzardo or something like that or just try to get one of the younger, more inexperienced pitchers from Seattle or Miami and develop them. Until we see an indication that a lot more needs to be traded, I see no reason to entertain it.
  13. No and no…because as of now, I don’t think all of that is necessary. Thanks for the knowledge on James. I will check it out and make his name known on our site. I see he has a lot of twitter followers, so that’s good to see.
  14. I don’t know Jimmy and have no idea if he’s right or not but I will be shocked if it’s 4 players, if 1 is a top 40 guy and another is a top 75 guy. Now, maybe Kopech or something else will also be coming back and that increases the return but I see no way they get all of that Unless the other 2 pieces are organizational filled that Elias needs off of MiL rosters for other players but I would be surprised if it’s anyone of any significance.
  15. I don’t disagree with you but I think if Cowser/Kjerstad and Ortiz are on the table, no one is beating that and there will be no need for a third player and even if there is a need for it, we won’t have to put up a guy like Povich.
  16. A guy I have wondered if he would be in this deal is Tyler Wells. Wells has been a solid starter for us. He has a lot of control and keeps you in games. The problem is, thus far in his career, he has worn down once he gets to 100 innings. It doesn’t make sense because he’s a big guy but it has happened nonetheless. He also isn’t “young” but he is cheap and under control for a while and he has shown he can be a weapon out of the pen. He may not be the “sexy name” you guys are hoping for or have the upside of other guys but as a second or third piece, if pitching has to come back, I could see it happen.
  17. Personally, I’d be surprised if Hall, Povich or McDermott are moved. (Not saying I agree just that it would surprise me) The thing is though, the Os have a lot more pitching than people think. BA just had an article out and they ranked the Os pitching 3rd in all of the minors in terms of stuff+. (I believe they were first in the AL and they just drafted a bunch of pitchers and they didn’t even play last year) So, teams could be interested in arms that you may not know, like a Trace Bright, who has got stuff and a nice upside. The Os are also starting to bear some fruit from their Intl drafts. They did nothing international wise for years but under Elias, it’s starting to boom and they have some really talented kids. One of them is Luis DeLeon and I would trade any of the pitchers mentioned before I would deal him. His upside is huge. He’s obviously further away than the other guys but if he stays healthy this year and continues to develop the way the Os are developing pitchers, I think he’s easily in the top 100 by the end of the year.
  18. If you notice, one of his posts mentioned “eating crow”. Povich is a guy that some have talked about in trades on our board. He came on the site about a month ago or so and told us that everyone was going to eat crow because there was “no chance” Povich would be traded and that the Os told him and his people that. So that’s why I wouldn’t read anything into it. He’s saying Povich isn’t going to be traded yet he is hinting that he knows something is going on. Doesn’t make any sense unless he just knows someone in the know but again, we have no idea if that’s true or not.
  19. Read nothing into it. He claims he knows some people within the Povich camp…and he may. Povich went to Nebraska and clearly that guy is a Nebraska fan unless he’s lying about that, which would be a really odd thing to lie about. I honestly don’t doubt that he knows people because well, it’s Nebraska. Not like it’s some booming metropolis. That said, unless he’s hearing something from the Povich camp that something could be going on, yet Povich isn’t involved (which makes this unlikely imo), his words mean nothing as he has never been an “insider” or had any info to any of our knowledge. I can’t say for 100% sure he has no info but like I said, there is no way of us knowing if he does.
  20. No one has ever said prospects can’t miss. But just because they can miss, doesn’t mean I want to trade the elite ones and I certainly don’t want to move them for the players that are reportedly available.
  21. All info we have heard is that they wanted Holliday at the deadline.
  22. Look at MLB’s (the most accessible albeit not the best) top 100 list. What top 50 guys are realistically going to be available for Cease? That list isn’t updated but based on what they show right now, I would say 31 guys are very likely not available in trade for Cease, for varying reasons. Of the 19 left, how many of those teams even want to trade for Cease or have what else would be required to get him? I just think the list of teams to get close to what you hope to get isn’t a long list at all.
  23. I think you will have an extremely hard time to get a better deal than one of Westburg, Cowser or Kjerstad and Ortiz or Norby (Ortiz not in the deal if Westburg is the choice).
  24. It’s 100% true. I have seen it. Hell, someone in this thread is arguing for getting Mayo.
  25. I don’t want him for anything. We don’t need him and already have a log jam on his type of guy. I want to trade guys, not add to them.
