  1. That’s fine…I don’t care. But you guys don’t have any issue saying it’s dumb if an Os fan wants to trade no more than Norby, Povich and Wagner for cease right? So, if you are ok with saying Os fans are being absurd (and trust me, I agree that some are), why wouldn’t you be ok with the opposite?
  2. Our board has the same. All fan bases are like that. I don’t hold it against anyone.
  3. Doing background research on players from other teams would be an example.
  4. The worry about Mayo at third has been does he have enough range and will he outgrow the position. Those issues are unfounded now. But if you told me today he is a first baseman and a first baseman only, I still have zero desire to make him..if it were up to me, Mayo would be the starting first baseman as soon as his extra year of service time kicked in.
  5. I’m an Os fan..I know dysfunction all too well unfortunately.
  6. No one is taking it personally. In fact, your fans are the ones calling Elias names, wishing the Os ill will, etc..because he won’t take it up the ass in a deal for Cease. They seem to be the ones taking it personally As a fan, you should want everything you can get. I’m not blaming you for that but that doesn’t mean you (not you you but general you) are being realistic in what Cease should get back.
  7. There is zero question he was involved in the talks..whether directly or indirectly. No doubt he knows what teams were saying, what the WS wanted, etc…and even if he didnt(which isn’t true), he has been talking a Cease trade for 6+ weeks now.
  8. Right, so the whole idea that he’s waiting for one of those pitchers isn’t correct. And the whole idea that he hasn’t gotten a deal i say is unreasonable is also correct because, as you said, any reasonable person would make that trade.
  9. First of all, the whole right handed thing is irrelevant. Good hitters are good hitters. He really doesn’t strike out a lot, especially for the type of hitter he is. In fact, the K rate has improved as he has also walked more and starting to hit for a better average. He is a very good athlete with a high end bat that has huge power and EVs and he is doing it at ages that are far younger than the league averages. If he went to college, he would have been draft eligible last draft and probably would have been a top 5 pick. If he does that, you aren’t thinking right now that he is a guy that is available in trade. And again, he can handle third base at the ML level. In fact, if Holliday doesn’t show more improvement at SS (I think he will), Mayo likely will end up at third. But since Holliday is likely a SS long term and Gunnar Henderson is a GG level third baseman, Mayo will likely be moved..but that’s for the Os and because of the talent they have.
  10. I’m sure, which I said in that post..but that doesn’t change what I said.
  11. In this case, they are. So, to be clear, if a team was offering him multiple top 35 prospects, your stance is that Getz would be saying no?
  12. I didn’t but it also doesn’t change my point. Getz was likely involved in those talks and while he may have different ideas than what Hahn wanted, the conversations still happened and the negotiations were still there and no question Getz was either involved or knew what was being said.
  13. Sure..but a high end offer would cause them to make a move now. Getz isn’t just sitting around doing nothing with Cease until those guys sign.
  14. I want to be clear..Getz is doing what he should be doing. This is how these things work. Trading team asking for too much…teams trading for player are offering too little. Eventually some team is able to come to an agreement. Getz is doing his job and as of now, he’s doing it properly and well. Elias and other GMs are doing the same. But an unreasonable trade, such as Mayo and Cowser (which is where this started) has zippy chance of happening and if it did, it would be done by now. I don’t see how anyone can possibly disagree with that.
  15. That’s fine..it’s not advice I care to give. However, if you are going to misrepresent what I’m saying, I’m going to say something.
  16. Yes it is…when the consistent thing you are hearing is that teams feel Getz is asking for too much and a trade that they have been talking to teams about since July still hasn’t happened, that tells you what you need to know. If he was only talking to the Os, you would be right..but hes not. We know (or at least if the rumor was true) what he asked for from Cinci and clearly that was greeted with a no. We know he asked for Holliday in July, that was greeted with a no. So yea, we have that idea.
  17. I have said I would do a deal that most of you have said you would like to do. Try reading and not generalizing. It makes your points and posts better.
  18. Yes, I’m cocky about my team even though I have said I think they are a borderline playoff team right now and need another starter to be much more viable…and I’m worried about them carrying over success based on how they won many games last season. If you think that’s cocky, I don’t think you know what the word means. I am super confident what a ridiculous trade request is and I’m also super confident that a ridiculous trade offer hasn’t been offered or else the deal would be done. Do you think Getz is turning down deals that where they are offered multiple top 35 prospects?
  19. Pointing out you being childish isn’t arrogant..it’s just telling the truth.
  20. No, it’s completely unreasonable and your consistent shots at Elias because he doesn’t want to get ass raped by your team is really old and pretty childish. And btw, just to clarify how I know it’s unreasonable..if anyone was offering a package like that or anything close to it, the deal would be done. In fact, we are hearing from a local Chicago writer that teams aren’t trading for Cease right now because the ask is too high. So yea, it’s completely unreasonable and the evidence that is true is overwhelmingly obvious.
  21. They do and the Os drafted him as one but he’s not a CFer. He will be fine in RF or LF and he give you a spot start here and there in CF but he’s not a CFer.
  22. Agreed…just as Cowser and Mayo is equally absurd.
  23. No doubt..any of these moves are for improving your chances and improving your margin for error. But it’s all about whose hot, whose healthy and who gets the most luck.
