Calling Mayo a one dimensional player is just an ignorant comment that really says, I know nothing about him. But again, it doesn’t matter because he’s not available.

They have an obsession with lefties because their park is better for lefties, just as ours is. But just like the Os, the WS need balance in the lineup. You can’t have 9 guys hitting left handed.

Fair enough, we can throw out the COVID year. And I never said anything even remotely like he had 1 good year 3 years ago and hasn’t shown anything since. However, if you look at 2022 (that wasn’t 3 years ago) and look at the rest of the years, I think it’s obvious what the outlier year is. I think it’s obvious that “one of these is unlike any other”.

He’s a third baseman and he can stay at third. He just won’t for the Os because we have even better options. But it doesn’t matter, he’s not on the table anyway.

You don’t read very well do you? I have never said we have a good pitching staff. In the discussions I have had with you, you have done nothing but misrepresent and exaggerate what I have said. Try reading and not being so disingenuous in your conversations.

The only difference there is that there’s very little GRod data to go off and even Bradish doesn’t have a huge track record either. Cease has a 5 years track record that is held up by one amazing season and the rest are good but not great. With those projection systems, that longer track record means a lot. Btw, to be clear…I hate all the projection systems. I think they are complete bs. The only reason I even mentioned it is to say that we have a lot of fans who don’t like the idea of giving up much for Cease and while you guys seem to believe it a slam dunk that he will get really good again, there are people and systems out there that disagree with that. Im not one of those people but they exist. And this is all under the context of the idea that this article should make Os fans nervous…it just doesn’t, not even a little bit.

I don’t think so. It’s not like Os fans thought the Os were the only team after him. The question has always been, what level of prospect do they have to give up. Im willing to go higher than some, so those who aren’t willing to go higher are absolutely fine with Cease going elsewhere and moving on to a different target. No one is bothered by this news because it’s not new and some would rather see the Yankees end up giving up more prospects for a pitcher that some don’t feel is that much of a difference maker. I know you love to quote fWAR..well they have Cease as a sub 3 fWAR pitcher in 2024. If that’s what he is, he would be a massive disappointment relative to your expectations/hope for 2024. So yea, there is no nervousness going on.

1) I don’t watch the Bears, so I can’t say for sure with you guys. But they are covered a lot nationally and things that I heard in the past point more to ineptness of the offense and game plan and weapons vs Fields. I know Fields has outstanding numbers throwing to Moore, so that would seem to indicate having talent is helpful to him. (Not like that is some revelation of course) 2) 100% agree. 3) I disagree with this, at least with Lamar. I say that because Lamar doesn’t take big hits. He is smart about it. I don’t know if Fields is because I don’t watch him enough to say. But lots of pocket QBs are getting hurt too.

I think the Ravens are on the short list for best organization in the sport and I also think the Bears completely screwed up in the development of Fields. So, I get it…it’s been “unfair” to him. I was one of the few Ravens fans that wanted Lamar traded a few years ago. I felt that paying him was a mistake because I questioned if he could elevate the passing game enough to win in January. Now, the other side to that is that I also said he hasn’t been given a real passing offense and the weapons have been subpar, so maybe it’s the team holding him back more than Lamar holding himself back. Fast forward to right now and he’s about to win his second MVp and he has looked the best he ever has throwing the ball. Now, we still need to see what he does in January but bringing in a real pass offense and giving him guys that can actually play well on the outside has made a lot of difference. I say this to simply say that Fields could get a lot better with better players and a better system around him. But do you pass on a top end QB talent and cheap play for 5 years for that hope? There is no greater commodity in sports than a successful NFL QB playing on a rookie deal.

Im a Ravens fan and I have a QB that is not about pure numbers, so I get it. However, with Lamar he makes everyone better. The running game is much better because of him. The Oline is better because of him. The WR and TE are becoming better because of him. And he wins at an incredibly high rate. Im not sure you can say those things about Fields. What is his impact on and off the field, even if you ignore pure numbers? Is that impact enough to warrant a big deal?

For anyone who wants to keep Fields, do you really want to pay him franchise QB money? Even if he’s not getting the Lamar/Herbert/Burrow level deal, he’s still going to get Daniel Jones or better money. Is he worth that? To me, that’s the biggest reason to trade him.

Not at all. In fact, the confirmation that pitching doesn’t have to come back brings me more optimism.

If you are the Yankees and don’t care about money, you can get Snell and not give up prospects..that makes more sense.

I guess I should do a better job of explaining what I meant. The Mariners have reportedly been all over the idea of needing offense this offseason. The pieces that have been rumored to be dealt is pitching…Woo, Miller, Hancock. Some thought that Gilbert could be available but not likely. The WS have valued pitching in some deals. We don’t know if that’s their biggest priority but it has been. If they are trading Cease to the Mariners, likely Woo, Miller or Hancock would be in the deal…but why would they trade pitching to get pitching? There is also some thought that they need to cut payroll because, like so many other teams, they have some RSN issues. So, I find it hard to believe that they would trade young cheap pitching for more expensive pitching. Now,..if the WS value other guys and are willing to take Ford as the best player and not any of those pitchers, I guess it’s possible but that still ignores the money aspect of things. I also doubt they would be looking to move their best offensive prospect on a team starved for offense but acknowledge that it’s possible. It just doesn’t add up to me. What does add up is if Seattle is the third team…if they send Woo or Miller to the WS, Cease to the Os and players to the Ms(could be tons of combinations there). But if that’s the case, I wonder if the Os would rather have Woo/Miller or Cease?

Some of that is misleading though. fWAR is more of a measurement of peripherals and the future. Doesn’t necessarily tell you the story of what they are at the moment. Also, 10th in ERA by starters. That said, they clearly and definitely need another guy..doesn’t have to be Cease but they need someone.

Right now, the thought is there is no need for him to be a starter. But if they don’t acquire anyone, they may. Elias has consistently said he thinks Hall is a starter.
