He will 100% get a deal he is happy with. I think we all agree with that. But he will have to come down off of his current demands for it to happen.
-
His handling it exactly like he should be…and the other GMs are also handling it exactly as they should be.
-
So to be clear, your belief is that Getz will get 100% of what he his initial demands are?
-
I happen to agree with you that they aren’t going to hold onto Cease and this is normal Heyman bs.
-
I think both are pretty obvious. I mean, what info do we have on how hard the Yankees are pushing for him? Your best insider in here said they are getting more aggressive but we have zero idea what that actually means. That could mean lots of things. In terms of the demands from the WS, as I have said a bunch of times, if teams were meeting their demands, a deal would be done. I would wager that basically every single trade, especially for a major piece, has gone this same way…trading team asks for more than the market will pay, buyers offering lower than seller will take..eventually the seller and one buyer move on their requests and a deal is struck. It’s just how negotiation works.

I think the Yankees are a poorly built team that has done an awful job building properly. I also think they will end up keeping Soto, so it’s not a one year deal. For the deal I think the WS end up getting, I think the Yankees should be in on Cease. For the deal you guys are hoping for, I don’t think the should do it.

It’s obvious it makes sense that they are in on starting pitching…but it’s not obvious that they are in on any single player and if it’s a trade, it’s not obvious how all in they are. I mean, if it’s actually true that the Yankees think Cease isn’t being dealt, it tells you that they think the WS aren’t getting the deal they want…which goes back to what I and other have been saying that the high end prospect (and other stuff) is just not on the table for Cease. I don’t particular think Cease will be a White Sox on OD but I do think Getz has to change his demands for a trade to happen. Teams aren’t going to come up to his request.

Heyman is the worst.
-
We have zero idea how “all in” the Yankees are or have been.
-
It depends on what else the team does.

I’m sure Ortiz is eagerly awaiting your approval. ? That said, if you want to continue to ignore production and scouting reports, that’s fine. He’s a high quality prospect and rated highly for a reason. I agree he’s not an ideal target for you guys but that doesn’t mean he’s not a talented player. Whether or not he reaches his ceiling, we will see but I would bet money that he ends up with a higher career WAR than at least 30% of the current top 100. His defense will keep him in the league for a long time.

If it was zero, it’s absolutely meaningless because it’s like 30 at bats.

I didn’t post it but ok. He may be biased, I don’t know but that’s a good site. His write ups are solid.

I’m not sure where he’s from that’s a good site. It’s way better than the mean stream sites like BA and MlB.com

I mean, I hate Md and think Baltimore sucks as a city but anyone around Chicago shouldn’t be throwing stones.

I do..my best case scenario is we trade Westburg as a lead in a deal and keep Ortiz, Cowser and Kjerstad. I think Westburg has as much if not more value than all of them But we have the ML ready IFers that can replace him, so he’s the best player for us to trade imo. Take him and pair him with Norby, Beavers/Stowers and Povich…something along those lines. Im not saying this is or is not for Cease, just saying that’s my preference. Im more than happy to give Ortiz 500 at bats at second base. I think he’s a 2-3 WAR player right now. The Os got a 3.3 WAR from Jorge Mateo in 2022 when he hit like dog poo. But his defense carried it. He also got a base running bump that I don’t think Ortiz will get but Ortiz has a better bat.
-
I know it..zero chance Elias does that deal.
-
Oh I agree but he’s not going to do it I doubt. He’s going to soak up the profits as long as he can under the disguise that “this is what’s best for the long term”. For your guys sake, I hope that’s wrong but it’s what is likely. The reality is that they should look to compete in 2026 and maybe they will because of the division but your expectation shouldn’t be that.
-
In all likelihood, the WS are not going to look to contend until 2028. The Os took 4 years, Houston took 4-5 years and Reinsdorf is like Angelos and will want to soak up profits while pointing to some bs timeline because “the Orioles and Astros did it”. Because of that, you guys are right…Ortiz isn’t a logical candidate for you. Now, he still could be a valuable piece and someone you look to trade in a few years but I’m not sure that makes a ton of sense. Now, if Reinsdorf sees the crap division and says, I want to contend in 2026, Ortiz makes a lot more sense but I tend to doubt that will happen.
-
Imagine if your opinion mattered or was respected by me.
-
I’m not sure how much of an option they truly were but they were a hope of mine for sure and that does hurt the Os. Of course, we have no idea if the Os even wanted one of those guys. And there goes another supposed suitor for Cease but I was told the options aren’t dwindling ?♂️
-
But I was told earlier what they were in on him!
-
No Os fans are “eager” to trade him. We all like him. However, we have other guys and he is a good prospect in an area where we can afford to lose someone(s). Personally, I’m hoping someone values Westburg the same as Cowser or Kjerstad (I think all 3 have similar value because Westburg fared well in the majors) and we are able to deal him as a headliner in a trade, keep the OFers and start Ortiz at second.

You said an ace. Montgomery isn’t an ace. The elite of the elite are getting 35-45M a year deals now.
