  1. Yep..plus they need pitchers who can miss bats because their defense is going to be atrocious.
  2. I’m one of the few Os fans that want 2 starters but I don’t think that’s going to happen. The Marlins match up the best for the Os because they could also want a ML piece that we should be looking to trade. I would like to add Edward Cabrera and part of me wants him over Cease. Cease is more of a sure thing in most ways but Cabrera has a big upside, has 5 years of control and will cost less than Cease.
  3. Cease isn’t the only pitcher out there. That’s the part of your little equation that you aren’t factoring in.
  4. https://x.com/joelsherman1/status/1745626257377624423?s=46&t=G3On-_LleGmZce-r3ClVZA
  5. The Yankees could still be an option. Hard to believe they are comfortable with the rotation they have..Clark Schmidt at the back end and a huge question mark on Rodon. I would think they still want another starter..push Schmidt into the 6th starter position.
  6. Where did I say he can’t handle them? Please show me that.
  7. Sure but a GM giving up those players won’t know that so part of their equation is 2 years of Cease vs 12-24 cheap years(depends on how many players are being dealt) of these players. And Cease is just a guy that has had consistency issues while playing in one of the worst divisions in pro sports. The stuff is there. The upside is there. The durability is there. But the results are meh and between that and only having 2 more years left, the value just isn’t what WS fans want and hope for it to be.
  8. But with Cease, you are giving up a lot of potential cheap years that bring huge surplus value. That is costly to give up too.
  9. I think the Giants could. Maybe more years and less AAV. 6/165-170?
  10. But lots of walks and struggling to get through 5 innings isn’t what contenders are looking for. The other thing is he will be going to a real division with teams that actually have ML offenses.
  11. As I said before, the options are dwindling. That isn’t going to cause his value to go up. The market is telling Getz that Cease’s value isn’t as high as he thinks it is. Will he adjust to that or just go into the season with him? Sounds like the media believes Getz isn’t coming off his demands and no one is improving their offer, so Getz keeps him.
  12. And risk getting 50 cents on the dollar in the process but it’s a risk that could pay off.
  13. It’s not even just that…Elias is so tight lipped. No one knows what he is and isn’t doing.
  14. Mayo and Cowser has zero basis for reality. The media can say what they want. Getz is free to ask for what he wants. But Elias wouldn’t consider that trade, so it doesn’t matter. You guys can keep hoping for it but Cease is not fetching 2 guys that some lists will have in the top 20. That just isn’t happening. You don’t like people from other teams telling you that but you not liking it doesn’t make it less true. MAYBE Boston or the Giants would do it. They have been the 2 teams I have said the whole time could go big and be desperate. Giants keep striking out trying to sign anyone and the Red Sox don’t like being the little brother.
  15. Of course it’s a laughable proposal….as was the other proposal. It was a joke/sarcasm. As for Cowser vs Kjerstad, I go back and forth on this and the presence of Beavers is a big deal in this too. I think I’m currently leaning towards preferring Cowser because of his defense and the need for good defense in our spacious LF.
  16. I’m sure it’s your trade. My trade hope is Tyler Wells, Norby and Mountcastle. Im guessing that they decide on something in the middle though, if the 2 teams do a trade.
  17. Ok, fair enough. If that’s truly the goal, so be it. It should be the goal for sure. Thanks for the update.
  18. They don’t but it also doesn’t take much to see his cheapness, the profits that were made and the idea that “it worked” Im of the opinion that the whole rebuild thing taking that long and that’s why the Os are winning is a complete fallacy. Fans ate it up because it worked but you didn’t need to do it that long.
  19. Have they announced that? If so, that’s great and we align well with you guys. It’s just hard for me to believe. And don’t get me wrong, they absolutely should look to contend in 2026. I’m 100% with you. Just skeptical because of your ownership.
  20. Really? I don’t know why. I have reached a conclusion that the Os don’t make sense for Cease from what I feel should be the perspective of the WS. What I mean by that is I do not think your ownership will look to compete in 2 years. I think they should but I think they will milk the profits and show the Astros and Os 4 year rebuild as a template to success. The Os don’t have a lot of young prospects outside of their top 3 and they aren’t being dealt for Cease or probably anyone else. So, you are then looking at 23-25 y/o players and while they are really good (or at least the potential to be good), they are ready right now and they will be using their service time and cheap years in years where you won’t be any good. For me, I think the WS should be looking at getting lower level guys with bigger upsides who coincide with the time table of you being good. It certainly brings more risk but having a 28 y/o COF with iffy defensive skills around the time you plan on contending, who is in his first year of arb is only so helpful. Busch is the same as those guys. Ferris is the type of guy I’m talking about.
  21. Maybe the WS like Ferris and the Dodgers will flip him for Cease?
