  1. Ortiz was one of the 15 players who just missed the list and BA apparently had a good report on him. Draft picks, risers and yes, his age likely caused him to go from 63rd on the list to just off of it. That being said, there are a lot of lists and some will have him and some won’t. There just isn’t much difference between 70 and 120. Having that number next to their name doesn’t make them a better prospect. He isn’t a top 50 prospect. The current MLB rating (which is the easiest list to find but also one of the worst) is too high. It always has been. Despite your obsession with pointing out him as a headliner, almost no Os fans actually believe that. Grasping onto that because of a few dumb opinions saying that he could be is equally dumb. BtW, so many of the Os players that you guys say are garbage, were on the “received at least one vote” list. The Os had 6 guys on that list including Povich, Norby and Beavers. If those guys were top 100 guys, you would be all giddy about them. Stop worrying about the number by some bs ranking system that has many factors such as draft position and own personal biases when they were drafted (ie, not admitting they were wrong) and look at the actual performance and scouting reports.
  2. I wouldn’t if your posters knew the rules and didn’t try to question it. It’s not my fault you guys don’t know basic rules.
  3. Yep..and the point was that closers are often not in high leverage situations and a save that is 3 runs or more isn’t high leverage. The or more part is largely irrelevant but it’s still the case. It’s not my fault there are members of this site who don’t know basic MlB rules that decided to focus on that.
  4. I think you are completely misinterpreting my post. I don’t feel there’s really anything else to say that wasn’t clearly said before.

  6. A save is also when a pitcher comes into the game and the on deck hitter represents the tying or go ahead run. It doesn’t have to be a 3 run lead for that to be the case. It can be a 4 run lead. If I had said that, you would be right it would be moronic. But since I didn’t say that, the only moron is yourself for a) not knowing all the rules and b) not comprehending and reading things my 6 y/o can understand.
  7. lol.my god, do you really not know the rules of the sport?
  8. For some reason I thought I saw he was going to be making 6 million or so.
  9. A closer is someone that is designated for the 9th inning(sometimes asked to get an out or 2 in the 8th inning but that’s few and far between). That may or may not be a high leverage situation. Many saves are 3 run or more leads. Thats not a higH leverage situation. I don’t want my best reliever to be the closer. I want my best reliever(s) to pitch in all innings because a “save” doesn’t always occur in the 9th inning.
  10. He’s been a focus of mine since the beginning the offseason. I can’t imagine he’s much more than a salary dump for the WS right now but I may be off on that. Not sure how the org feels about him.
  11. I believe it was 2021 where he was exclusively a reliever and his stats were very good. Plus, our organization knows how to develop guys..yours doesn’t. I feel good about it. Bautista was an absolute nobody a few years ago. He had nothing going for him other than throwing hard. cano was an after thought and someone most of us thought shouldn’t be on the 40 man. They have a tendency of doing well with arms like this.
  12. I don’t really care about the closer role. I care more about high leverage relievers. But yes, that would be my focus with him.
  13. Any deal will hurt. No one has ever said it won’t hurt despite this boards seeming inability to read what Os fans are actually saying. But there is a point where it’s too much and you look at someone else. That deal that was suggested is definitely at that point. Your best poster here and prospect evaluator is saying a deal like that is too much. I know you guys like to cry about me saying it but it is what it is. Id be willing to bet that many of the posters on here will be disappointed by the deal that ends up happening, no matter who he is traded to.
  14. I’m flexible. I’m hopeful for a deal headlined by Westburg..not because he’s a worse player but he is an area that we have more right now depth and right now is the important thing when evaluating a trade like this with our current situation.
  15. Ortiz is a top 100 guy..so is Mayo. The comp ends there. What you are really saying is that 2 top 50 guys is reasonable and there is absolutely no indication that is even within the realm of being reasonable. Cowser/Kjerstad are top 35 guys and Westburg isn’t far off, if not the same or higher in terms of value. So yes, it’s unreasonable to expect that.
  16. Yes it is. Well, let me rephrase..it’s not an unreasonable ask but it’s a completely unreasonable expectation.
  17. This must be your mantra when you wake up.
