  1. No, that’s not true at all. You guys keep saying that but that’s because you are fixated on a little number put in front of them by some ranking service. Westburg has similar value to the other 2 and at a more premium position. If reporting is accurate than it sounds like the WS like Westburg, which makes sense. He has a good bat and plays good defense. But I don’t think players they just drafted and have barely seen(or not seen at all) are on the table right now. I mean it’s possible but I’m just thinking they wouldn’t move guys like Bradfield, Horvath and maybe even Baumeister. A deal to Westburg, Beavers and Povich is strong…if another guy that is like a B-/C+ player also needs to be added, so be it but that offer is strong. We have some on our board that are just as happy relying on Beavers long term as Cowser or Kjerstad. I’m a Beavers fan (that’s what she said) but the other 2 are more ready right now. In some ways, Beavers actually makes more sense for your situation.
  2. Westburg has very similar upside to those guys and plays a more premium position.
  3. Beavers and Bradfield (who isn’t likely on the table) aren’t third pieces.
  4. I definitely think it’s possible both Kjerstad and Cowser are off the table. Westburg makes more sense for the Os and his value should be very similar.
  5. I would think/hope that McDermott or Povich would be on the table. I prefer Povich to be dealt but the Os like their LH starters. Westburg being on the table makes sense especially since the Os really like Ortiz.
  6. 1) Mullins is getting older and has a game that relies a lot on speed. A CFer on the wrong side of 30 who relies on speed isn’t someone I want to rely on or sign, whether Bradfield develops or not. 2) Santander being a WBC stud is irrelevant. He is a good player but normally the OBP isn’t great, the OpS is 800ish and the defense is meh. I like him and he’s a nice role player type piece to have but he’s nothing special. 3) The thing about vet leader is that they were one young players. Adley is the team leader and other guys will emerge too. Leadership is the absolute last thing I’m concerned about. This team is extremely close. They are all very close friends who have grown with each other in the system. They will probably sprinkle in a vet here or there but yea, the absolutely last thing I’m concerned about is leadership or chemistry. 4) Yea, they need another starter. As I have never argued against. 5) Don't love the pen..would like to add another guy like Stephenson, depending on the contract. 6) there isn’t much reason to doubt Bradish. He had a lot of excellent starts, both new and old school and I believe he was second in stuff+ in 2023 amongst starters. He may have some drop off, as can happen with anyone coming off a career year but I doubt it will be some real noticeable one.
  7. Mullins is only a tough replacement defensively but that’s why they drafted Bradfield. Santander is a good but not great player who has a lot of potential replacements. Tate didn’t pitch in 2023. He had a good 2022 because he actually threw strikes. Prior to that, he was a dime a dozen guy. I would have traded him after 2022. I don’t have much hope for him although it would be a nice boost to the pen if he could be 2022 Tate again.
  8. Hays won’t be starting that long…they won’t pay him and they shouldn’t. He’s not THAT good.
  9. He has the arm and athleticism for it and the Orioles have already said this offseason that he will be out there and is already training for it I believe. Mayo is a big time team first guy. He has been very much, whatever you need me to do, I will do. It’s one of the things they love about him. Im guessing it won’t be difficult for him to take to the OF. I haven’t thought he would go out there but the presence of Basallo makes that thought more sensible. Before it was him or Kjerstad And that didn’t make sense to put him in the OF and Kjerstad at first but Basallo changes that equation even though most feel he can stay at C, at least for the time being.
  10. This just isn’t true…Mayo in RF, Basallo at first/back up C, Cowser in LF, Westburg at second, Kjerstad at first/RF/DH They actually have a lot of potential flexibility. Elias wants versatile guys.
  11. Some are delusional enough to think we don’t even need a starter. Some think adding anyone would be fine, as long as Elias signs off on it. Overall though, most would be unhappy but they wouldn’t be surprised if that’s all that’s accomplished.

  13. He can’t stay at SS. He can stay at third though.
  14. Westburg was a guy rated in that 45-70ish range who then went to the majors and performed well. To me, his value is similar to Cowser or Kjerstad. But I would rather deal Westburg because of our IF depth Im personally not one who wants to deal McDermott. If I’m the Os, my offer is this: Westburg, Povich, Beavers and a B-/C+ prospect like Wagner. I most fans probably would hate that but keep in mind that Povich was a top 60 prospect according to Kiley McDaniel entering the season and Beavers has top 100 potential. (I actually expect him to get there at some point in 2024) So, you have a legit starting second baseman or third baseman, 2 potential top 100 guys and a prospect with role player type potential.

  16. Thanks for the info. Do you remember what was being offered in the offseason? (Or did it even come out?)
  17. Well it’s a terrible contract to begin with imo. There were few more overrated players entering this offseason than Hicks imo.
  18. Ryu is my prediction if they sign a FA and not get someone in trade.
  19. All of those guys will be contributors in 2024, including at least one and maybe 2 on OD.
  20. Teams are so stupid. The only positive thing is that park is awful for hitters but just an awful idea.
  21. Do you actually read what is said or does your mind automatically take out words? And did you read the whole post for the actually context of that comment or are you again just ignoring things on purpose? Oh and that post still has absolutely nothing to do with Ortiz.
