  1. $7 million is rather highly compensated. He will be insanely compensated soon.
  2. I am sure Dylan Cease is the one who is relieved now that this ordeal is over for him. Despite getting highly compensated, it could not have been easy for him and his family to be not knowing where they will end up. Trade deadline is one thing, but this was going on for nearly 5 months straight.
  3. Immediate reaction is B-. Incomplete is always an answer right after any trade. Dylan Cease is also very difficult to rate: a good pitcher who had everything clicking for one season.
  4. I guess Getz was concentrating on pitching prospects. Not exactly sure if this was the best return that was offered during this offseason.
  5. The Orioles gave up Joey Ortiz, DL Hall, and the comp pick #34 for Corbin Burnes. Also keep in mind that any past trades will not be relevant since each circumstance is different. NYY will have to pay around $17 million for Cease this year. Texas will pay around $9 million. SD is not known yet since their roster is still a mess. Question: Which serious contender(s) have no tax consideration beside the Orioles and the Diamondbacks?
  6. Will Cease, Rodon, Cortez, Stroman rotation be enough to overtake the Orioles if Cole is out for an extended time? I am not sure if Tampa has enough pitching after this offseason although they do seem to find a way. Toronto is always a difficult team to figure out.
  7. Noelvi Marte was the Reds #1 prospect. I wonder how this will change this ranking.
  8. I guess the White Sox would not want Noelvi Marte from the Reds if they get serious about trading Cease to them.
  9. Does Fisher have any leverage anymore with Oakland? This may end up in a textbook as "how not to conduct a negotiation".
  10. This article is such a mess. Why would the White Sox sign Chapman? Why does anyone think the Brewers and the Orioles sign Snell and give up draft choices when they can sign Montgomery in extremely unlikely event of them spending money? Doesn't the Red Sox have enough DH types on their roster to sign JD Martinez?
  11. This has to be the most messed up relocation plan of a sports team in history. I know it is a growing area, but I believe LV will be the smallest market in MLB. Honestly, San Jose would have been so much better choice.
  12. I do not know for sure. They may have been Mayo, Cowser, and Westburg. Westburg was definitely one of them.
  13. When teams are projected to have a terrible season, many of them can surprise people and have very respectable season. Obviously, those teams are more likely to be young teams. The White Sox may ended up better than people expect especially if they make trades to get young talents.

  15. Just looking at the Orioles depth chart for their bullpen: Left: Cionel Perez, DL Hall, Bruce Zimmermann, Coulombe, Cole Irvin with Akin and Vespi as depth. Right: Kimbrel, Wells, Cano, Webb, Baumann, and Baker with Heasley as back up. Honestly, I do not think they are looking at RPs. Tyler Wells closed for the Orioles during the tail end of 2021 and did very good job.
