GOOD. i'm not ashamed to say it.

if this were a few years ago, you'd think he was off the juice, but he was throwing 95 at times last year. odds are he's got some arm problems. the wbc classic sure as hell didn't help things but how many pitchers make it to his age and that many innings w/o some major problems along the way?

i don't mind trading prospects for something decent (thome). i hate throwing them away for guys like robbie alomar, etc. rauch has turned into a pretty decent reliever. it'll be interesting to see what kind of moves KW makes over the next couple of years now that he doesn't have any more mediocre prospects to give up.

good thing so taguchi wasn't the first guy.

well obviously i can't know as much as you do. malone could have a decent career as a lefty reliever. like a buddy groom type if you know who that is. he's 25 and missed a couple of years to surgery. i can guarantee he won't be on the "official" future sox list b/c if he makes the majors it probably won't be with the sox. broadway could be a bottom of the rotation guy. gives up a ton of hits and doesn't strike too many out. limits the walks and homers. picked mcculloch ahead of him b/c i'm hoping he's got a little stronger arm. i'm trying to be optimistic.

here's my top ten. fields is about the only guy who i'd call a "top" prospect, and he's no sure thing. fields sweeney mcculloch broadway whisler haeger malone (prolly a 6 year FA though) getz lucy nanita

obviously he was hurt when he was pitching for us. especially his last year. wonder how his rehab is going. seemed like a nice guy...

kyle kane, johnny ruffin, jason bere, danny wright were power guys we drafted. royce ring i guess. i'll never know why the hell we drafted him.

crappy as it is, pods may be our best option. but more importantly, it's the poopy starting pitching that is our problem.

rich gossage was the last power arm we developed.

we have to start developing some youth so this decent team of ours doesn't all get old at once. i'd put sweeney in left to begin with. bmac plus another new guy in the rotation. we can't say oh this year was an aberration.

one would thing with our atrocious starting pitching and dominant offense, the emphasis would be on defense, but not necessarily so with that silly guy ozzie.
