  1. No it's not. The style you're looking for is post-grunge, which is closely synonomous with utter crap. Nu-metal is the fusion of rap and rock, more or less resulting in awful music.
  2. Do not f*** with SomethingAwful goons, end of story.
  3. The entire point of music is not to sell out and make money, it's about making good sounding stuff. Just about every band listed here blatantly uses reguritated s***, changes very minute chords/beats, and calls it their own. These bands are not pushing the limits of music, rather they are making the populus comfortable within a sphere of complete s***tiness. Music needs innovators, not garbage bands that have no creative thought process whatsoever. Many of "my" bands aren't "huge" at all. Could Radiohead easily make marketable pop music and make even more money what they make now? Of course they can. But why don't they? Why didn't they stick to the form of success that made OK Computer the best album of the 90s and continue making records like that? Why instead did they dabble in IDM/Electronic-Rock with Kid A? Because it pushed outward the boundaries of music. I find it funny that you assume I hate everything mainstream. Does R.E.M. or Radiohead, two of the biggest, most successful bands of last decade, ring any sort of bell with you? Sure, everything else is obscure, but that's because mainstream music doesn't whet my appetite. I want to hear music that is innovative, not garbage that is merely just marketed to make s***loads of money. And just because something is obscure doesn't mean I hate it. I listened to a bit of Experimental Audio Research recently and hated it. I think that a lot of "my" bands have made mistakes in song selection, releases, etc. While I do not believe "my" bands are infallible, they're miles upon miles ahead of anything listed in this thread. God forbid one wants innovation. Am I an elitist? I prefer to be called avant-garde.
  4. Yes, definitely. I have 7th row seats and will be promptly leaving after both Mogwai and Interpol are done. Just about every other band on the Curiosa ticket (The Cure, Muse, Cursive, anyone on the second stage really) is god awful and should be avoided like the plague. I hope I'm not surrounded by a bunch of goth losers who like The Cure.
  5. I guess I should save this thread due to the massive amount of s*** music (Yellowcard, Death Cab for Cutie, Linkin Park, just about any band even listed), and post mine: Godspeed You! Black Emperor Sigur Ros Mogwai Kammerflimmer Kollektief Magyar Posse Kraftwerk R.E.M. Radiohead Rachel's Tortoise My Bloody Valentine Neutral Milk Hotel Interpol (new album, don't like the old one too much) Explosions In The Sky Do Make Say Think A Silver Mt. Zion (some)
  6. You've got 10 days left, get over it. Don't become a Nazi unless he is blatantly, and I mean every single thread same post, posting it.
  7. We've got 8 of 'em, you guys will love the Tracey one as well as the Sweeney interview. Go Blakely and Dwayne Pollok
  8. Yeah, that was Jason and I's first interview. After we talked a bit with Sean Tracey, everything went so smooth, especially with Sweeney.
  9. Willie will be absolutely nothing in the big leagues if he cannot learn to steal bases. He was out by a mile last night trying to steal.
  10. Through 26 games, Jose De Los Santos has managed a very impressive stat: his OBP is lower than his BA. Just think for a second....there you go. 26 games, 1 BB. He'll get eaten alive if that continues.
  11. And we never should trade Jon Garland, he's got too much potential! Please call me when his ERA is below 4.
  12. Someone needs to tell Zambrano two things: 1) Unless your penis is the size of a horse's, you've got really no excuse for grabbing your junk after every single pitch. 2) Ritalin is meant to be swallowed, not snorted. I was so glad when Rolen absolutely demolished that ball.
  13. Olivo isn't even in the same class as Joe Mauer. Mauer will be a great, great player, end of story.
  14. For like Lee. Or Rowand (OMG NO NOT ROWAND!!!) and an A prospect or two.
  15. We've seen pictures of him and he looks like he's 7 or so (sorry man, 'tis true), and he's a Sox fan so you know it's not Mariotti.
  16. wow

  17. Fastball, slider, changeup. Changeup is developing, more of a "show me" pitch as of now. Mid 90s fastball, good slider, has had some control issues. Should be somewhat decent out of the pen.
  18. Not a bad price tag at all. Hopefully Gary will be promoted to Montreal ASAP, he was a very nice guy when Jason and I interviewed him in Charlotte. Frees up a spot on the 40 man, too. Hooray....and I'm assuimg Borchard gets sent down? Either him or Burke.
  19. I wouldn't say that, Rex. I'm thinking Rauch and a low level prospect, say like a Matt Smith, Ulacia, maybe even Meaux. Where'd you hear Munoz and McCarthy?
  20. His ERA is 7+ and the Expos "aren't stupid enough to trade him"? ....
  21. You know what that means.
  22. I figured Rauch would be involved, but I'm hoping the other is reliever/low level prospect.
  23. So, in a playoff game, Rowand and Garland are going to be more valubale to a win than Randy Johnson? I have seen absolutely nothing out of Garland this year that makes me think he'll be anything more than a #3 starter. And Cheat, your Win Shares argument is flawed because you're assuming that prospects are worth jack squat. I could trade away the entire White Sox farm system for a guy with a win share of 1 and still come out ahead. Instead...let's look at some metrics becayse you decided to throw around Win Shares: According to Support-Neutral W/L (basically assuming that a team scores the average amount of runs per game, what the starter's record will be) Randy Johnson is the best pitcher in baseball with a SNW (Support-Neutral Win) of 10. Garland has a SNW of 7.1. That's a three game difference in the first half alone. APW (Adjusted Pitcher Wins) confirms this again. APW is a method of determining how many wins a starter is worth. Johnson is worth 2.7 wins according to APW, Garland 0.3. So by adding Johnson and subtracting Garland, you're adding 2.4 wins. Now assume Schoeneweis starts in place of Garland with an APW of -0.1. 2.4 + -.01 = 2.3 wins and you still come out ahead. Are those 2-3 wins worth it? Wins are wins, you can't deny that and I'd take RJ any day of the week. And do you think Aaron Rowand by himself is worth 2-3 wins? Didn't think so. Once again, you're saying no to the best pitcher in baseball and hoping that Garland doesn't crap his pants in a playoff atmosphere AND turns out to be a #1 starter.
  24. I cannot believe you people. Aaron Rowand is now considered a "solid everyday player"? What the f*** are you smoking? I've said this time and time again, he is a servicable 4th OF on a good team, nothing more. Could you tell me in one full season where he batted over .300? Rowand's career high in walks in 38, back in AA. Rowand struggles mightily against right handed pitching, and we're afraid to give him up for the best pitcher in the game? And at the same time we're afraid of losing Jon Garland? The same Jon Garland that will never become Kevin Brown like many thought he would be. The same Jon Garland who probably lacks the two things a pitcher needs most: confidence and a pair of balls. So let me say this again: you people are afraid of giving up a 26 year old 4th outfielder, a #4 starter and most likely two prospects (Munoz/Diaz/Rauch and Anderson/Sweeney (why can't Borchard just go)) for the best pitcher in the game, hands down? That's just sad.
  25. So trading a 4th OF and a #3/4 starts as well as some prospects for probably the best pitcher in all of baseball isn't worth it? Um.
