  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 08:18 PM) Looking at his stats then comparing them against one at bat. Pretty quality insight of what the player could be. *statistical analysis*
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) Yeah, he does have that flaw in his swing, but everything else is really pretty. He uses a combination of linear and rotational for his swing, has real good weight shift, gets into a good launch position, and has a quick bat. I'm no professional scout or anything, but I've been watching and studying baseball and mainly swings for most of my life, and he has a real good swing. And yeah, I don't know much about him. All I got are quick scouting videos and a few scouting reports, but that's the only thing we fans have to go off of. We don't have time or funds to go around the country scouting prospects. However, I'm not gonna hold back my displeasure because I don't know a ton about him. Why? Why can't we hand out grades now? You want everyone to be like the guys on the MLBN show and say every pick is awesome? I'm gonna voice my opinion. Odds are they will be wrong because I don't know much about them, but hell, professional scouts are wrong all the time. I'll revisit in a year, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with giving out grades right away based on first impression. This way you can set expectations right away and adjust to how they do in their first go around in professional ball. Because you just graduated high school and know almost next to nothing about all of these players. You saying that this draft is good or bad means absolutely nothing because that's where your knowledge level about it lies. You're absolutely entitled to state your opinion, but at the same time I have the right to cut you down to size because your opinion has little if any merit. You're showing prejudice because the Sox brass have different opinions than your own, even though your opinion is strictly off of gut feeling.
  3. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 09:33 PM) I'm extremely pissed right now that we didn't draft Max Walla. Just watching his scouting video, this guy has a great swing and just looks like a ball player... http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?topic_i...tent_id=4625661 This guy has just a really nice, natural swing. No, he doesn't. He dips his head several inches when he swings, which opens up a ton of holes. I hate to be pessimistic, but you most likely just saw his scouting video today and know next to nothing about him, so being "extremely pissed" is pretty laughable. Look, it's great that everyone here is following the draft, but let's be honest with ourselves, none of us are scouts. It's silly to be worked up about this because none of us has a goddamn clue about who is better than who because anyone can read BA and watch advanced scouting videos. It's simply asinine for anyone on this board to say such and such a team had a better draft than us because you simply have a limited knowledge of something that teams have put thousands of manhours in to. Save yourself the disappointment and wait a year to start handing out grades and complaining.
  4. Outside of Sauer's very good K:BB ratio, his GB:FB ratio is really eye popping. Wouldn't be surprised if he finds himself in Winston-Salem soon.
  5. Absolutely terrible mechanics. Has torn labrum written all over him.
  6. QUOTE (shipps @ May 17, 2009 -> 11:33 AM) Happy Birthday man! Thanks, man! Nothing says happy birthday like watching your favorite team get absolutely obliterated. Thank God the Hawks are on at 2.
  7. Bahahaha, what an awful lineup. Might as well just skip this game.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2009 -> 08:06 PM) FREE WILSON BETEMIT! At that point, you can PH him and put Nix in at SS or even Lillibridge. That would require a manager with brains.
  9. If I knew which one called a better game I'd pick him.

Unbelievable! 4-2 Australia. And I need to sleep. Stupid work...
  11. Cerbaho-WG replied to Cubano's topic in The Diamond Club
Aussies tie it up. I'll try and watch this game tomorrow, but I'm definitely pulling for Australia here.
  12. Cerbaho-WG replied to Cubano's topic in The Diamond Club
    ORANJE!
  13. Cerbaho-WG replied to Cubano's topic in The Diamond Club
Oranje tied 0-0 with the DR. God, I hope they win.
  14. Cerbaho-WG replied to Cubano's topic in The Diamond Club
    Australia is playing really well.
  15. Cerbaho-WG replied to Cubano's topic in The Diamond Club
    Make that 3-0.
  16. Cerbaho-WG replied to Cubano's topic in The Diamond Club
Didn't take long for the Aussies. 2-0.
  17. I live in the city now, so any day is fine with me.
  18. "A very questionable draft this year after Gordon Beckham won't do much to boost their system." ...Man, Keith Law is an idiot.
  19. Because I've heard that the fourth year will kick in if Rodriguez pitches his normal inning amount. You're paying 12-13 million on the most overrated position in baseball and you could have easily saved 12 million by just signing Fuentes.
  20. Dumb signing by the Mets.
  21. If true, this is a pretty epic troll job by OC.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 01:14 PM) 2006 In less than 500 at-bats (448 to be exact), Rivera hit 23 homers and had 85 RBI's with an .887 OPS and a .362 OBP. That really screams "grinder" to me. Have you ever seen Rivera play a game, seriously? The year (2004) before Jermaine Dye came on board with the Sox. 532 at-bats, 23 homers (the same number that Rivera hit in 84 less AB's), 80 RBI's, .793 OPS and a .329 OBP. Who's the grinder, now? Only the guy who has led the majors in homers for RFers cumulatively for the last four seasons. Almost the same exact age as JD came over here, if we were to obtain Rivera. It's not always stats, it's identifying the players who have the most upside when their value is at its lowest. You need to get your head of your ass and read into some sarcasm. I've seen Rivera play and I know his 2006 stats were great, but we're talking about a guy who has had a shattered leg in CF.
