4/20 Games
QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 12:03 AM) Decent from Poreda, but you'd probably like to see more from him down at that level. Eh, not exactly. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox are making him throw a bunch of changeups and sliders so he can get better with those pitches, which would obviously explain some of the "mediocre" numbers he's been having.

4/16 Gamethread: Sox (8-5) at Orioles (8-6); 6:05; WCIU
Loewen has absolutely no control, so the offense needs to be very patient tonight.

Carlos Quentin - Nick Swisher - Jermaine Dye
QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 08:34 AM) I said the same thing when I saw Swisher keep his eye on a ball yesterday that was hit out to the warning track in CF. Like you said, a good CF, right after contact, puts their head down and runs to the spot, then looks up to find the ball and then catch it. There was no need to put his head down and run for the ball because the CF wall was 420 ft. away. The main reason you put your head down is so you can gauge where the wall is, and that obviously wasn't necessary.

Jon Garland
He had zero strikeouts and he was facing a young, aggressive batting order. Baseball Prospectus had a really interesting line on him, saying that 25% of his outs last year were lineouts. He's a league average pitcher and I'd bet some money he doesn't perform well this year at all.

April Fools Day Thread: Joe Crede and Nick Masset dealt to SF
Normally I'd be a bit peeved at this, but once I saw a youtube video, I knew it was a Rickroll. Beautiful.

Two walks, AJ goes after the first pitch and....he drives in a run. Baseball can be quite odd. Well done, AJ!

Alexei Ramirez to start at CF on Opening Day?
I think it's a smart move because Sabathia is a fastball pitcher, and the Indians' bullpen isn't exactly full of flamethrowers, something Ramirez would be better off against. However, if Ramirez sees any ABs against pitchers who toss primarily offspeed pitches - like Byrd - then Ozzie has no clue what he's doing.
