i don't think the sox will have a fire sale for salary purpose. jr didn't do that with the bulls and he wants to build something that will last, something like the old brookln dodgers that he is always mentioning when he grew up. jr will pony up with the money for to keep this going.

i 100% agree with you. all this deal is going to cost money and prospects. the prospects may be steep and i have to think about that part of the deal however if getting johnson would help us not only going to the world series would be a nice price to pay and look at what that will do to the future of the sox. money, well this goes to jerry r. the owner of the sox. well jr, you mention that you always had reservations about going after someone b/c the attn isn't there to support the team. well that excuse doesn't hold water anymore. we have the BEST attn record since 94(the strike yr, wasn't this the yr that was suppose to be our yr) you add a rj to the team, the starting 5 is deadly, and look out. the attn will not only get better, but i can almost say you will have fans being turn away trying to buy tickets to attend the game. the season ticket holder base will get bigger for next yr and the revenue generated from this addition will be stagger. so what is the bottom line, you add rj and his salary, the amount of fans which is now attending will only get larger. add signing maggs, which is only money will show your committment to win. this team is in position to add certian pieces every once in a while to continue a strong winning yr, and this can be added in the offseason with signing a fa. again money, that can be money well spent and you will get back.

when i was in chi and attending the games, i was a season ticket holder and the parking was not too bad. yeah it was a little diffucult in getting around while getting there, but i never had to waste 30 mins trying to find parking, it was an easy flow. getting out was never bad, all i did was take my time to get the car, getting into the car and by that time, traffic again isn't too bad.

if beltran is a cancer, there would be a spin control coming out of hou as well as kc on his problems in the clubhouse, like there was in royce clayton and the other guy we got. i am not doubting what you are saying that he is a cancer, but i haven't heard nothing in something like 1+ yrs when talk about his becoming a fa. getting carlos in cf, would help in the push for the playoff and if the price isn't too steep, giving up players to help go for the world series. that would be great and help the future of the sox. so let him walk at the end and the draft picks we get will help in rebuilding the farm.

lets look at this way, if and i mean a if, the sox do get beltran and it cost us rauch and several other prospect and not the major studs in the farm. we get beltran for the push and then let him leave after the season. his leaving will get us some extra draft picks. rauch may not get the break here in chicago to start, a change may jump start him, and with the lineup we have, do you see any other prospect helping us now??? the draft picks can be used to rebuild the farm.

for you conspiracy theorist. the sCrubs make the move to prevent the sox in; 1. getting johnson, thus preventing them for gaining grounds on the fan base 2. prevent them from going deep in the playoff and 3. trying to get their lion share of the media before kw does something else. i don't see nomar helping them out in the final push. stl has what a 10 1/2 game lead or something like that.

one question to the trade in my mind of sCrubs, bos and arz, why would the sCrubs want to make the trade for nomar?

All I can tell you is that this is the first I've heard of such a deal. Of course the Diamondbacks could use prospects and the Red Sox could use Johnson . . . but why would the White Sox want Garciaparra? Last I checked, Valentin was doing a pretty good job at shortstop.

i hate to mention the obvious, but it is the sCrubs that is in need of a ss and with this rumor, i would believe more that the sCrubs is the chicago team being mention. as i see it, they have the farm to give to what arz needs. it is a ashame too, b/c i would have love to see rj here, however as long as it is not nyy that is not getting him, i am happy to say the least.

what did hou gave up to get carlos??? then judge what we need to give up to get him, hou would look foolish if they accepted anything less.
