beginning of the second round and there are some players there that i really like. Johannes Salmonsson is who i like, was considered to be a top 5 until a shoulder injury knock him out of the first rounder. -

what i see is the hawks will hold on to their picks in the second, use them on players like, and i hope they will. what surprise me is that i had wheeler there at the second round as well as many sports magazine. Johannes Salmonsson - swe, Jean-Francois Boucher - Cana, Adam Pineault - usa, Evan McGrath - cana there is a couple of players that are dropping like a brick and these surprises may be there in the second round, me thinks. look out for David Bolland kind of small at 5'11. he is an interesting pick for me. a little like dennis savard type player. Roman Voloshenko - rus, should have been taken in the 12-15 pick range -

Scouting report on barker. Scouting: Very few defensemen have a better grasp of their position offensively at such a tender age than does Cam Barker. A smooth skater with an impressive stride and good balance, he displays surprising agility and speed for his size. Has a great low shot from the point, but needs to use it more as he often elects to pass the puck to a teammate even if he is in a great shooting lane. Good vision and puck handling skills allow him to create a lot of offense when he is quarterbacking a power play. He also has an innate hockey sense to know when to pinch in from the point and or stay back. Barker can beat a forecheck either by making a crisp pass up to an open forward or by personally carrying the puck out of the defensive zone. Displays tremendous confidence on the ice at all times and rarely panics. A great leader that doesn’t let his team get down after a goal against. Barker clears the front of net, plays aggressive along the boards and is capable at throwing some bone jarring hits, but at times can be a defensive liability. 05/14/2004 - Forced the forward that was on a one on one to the wall .. got on the penalty-kill very late during the first disadvantages in both playoff games, however saw much more time on the kill as the game went along .. tremendous mobility with a stride that is not only graceful, but powerful .. has a tendency to lunge at the puck carrier and try to grab on .. rarely looks for a big hit .. had a multitude of defensive partners, although did get the bulk of his even strength shifts with Riley Day .. sees the ice well and consistently moves the puck crisply to the open man .. takes a hit to make a play .. terrific hand-eye coordination .. needs to improve in the physical aspect of the game and take greater advantage of his size and strength especially in front of the net and in high traffic areas .. shoots the puck confidently and with purpose .. allowed his goalie to get an unobstructed view of a point shot .. reads the play and has a high panic threshold .. got extra shifts in the latter part of the game .. a regular on the power play .. uses his body to protect the puck .. has improved his poise while on the rush, although at times still forces the puck in to heavy traffic unnecessarily .. tied up his man along the boards .. never hesitates to take something off his shot in order to get it on net .. over handled the puck at times .. adept at not letting pucks past, basically he is like a vacuum because anything that he can reach usually ends up on his stick .. uses an active stick to intercept passes on the PK .. effortless slap shot that explodes off the blade when he gets his full weight behind it .. has a heavy wrist shot .. made a sparkling breakout pass which led to a scoring chance .. stickhandles well and has the ability to make checkers miss .. knows how to protect himself from taking the full impact from a big hit .. on the ice in the final minute of the series clinching game to help the Medicine Hat Tigers advance to the Memorial Cup -

i was surprise and happy. as of late i thought the hawks would either trade the pick of go for barker. we are in great shape on "d' now. look for the hawks to use the 2 rounders and third rounder on offense. i am soooo surprise that phx got blake wheeler, he was and i was looking for the hawks to pick him in the 2 round. anybody got any comments on who the hawks should draft in the 2 rounder??? -

i am with you on this. several yrs ago, he pretty much held his own against almost the entire board with his views. granted some my not like him or his views, but you have to respect him as i do. he is a good guy.
