i don't know about kip, as much as i like him, he may take a spot for one our prospect coming up. you make one trade and not lose too much prospect, then you have a surplus for another poss trade. how do you think this will affect the clubhouse?

That would be highway robbery if we get pull out the Giles trade you just suggested... But i doubt that will happen..there's gonna be another team outthere who can probably offer up better players.. IT wouldn't be all that bad if the Sox gave them Lee and Rauch. Rauch may develop but I don't see it happening with the Sox, especially with Honel, Wing, Cotts, Pacheco and Rupe their. Of course this trade is easier to make if the Sox only lose one arm in the Everett deal. The Pirates get a potential solid starter and a solid outfielder that is younger then Giles. Sox get a stud outfielder that will be an all star and is signed for the next couple years. Pirates also have Jeff Suppan on the block and I think you could even pry him if the Sox wanted an additional starter. I know HSC wanted the Sox to sign Suppan in the offseason. This is all assuming that the Pirates pay Lee's salary and the Sox pay all of Giles and Suppan's salary. I'd do the trade even if Suppan wasn't a part of it. But KW better not make the deal if its only Suppan Giles is signed for a few more years at like 6 or 8 mill a season. This season he's hitting .301 with 10 hr's and 48 RBI. He has a .438 OBP. This season he's struck out 34 times while walking 61. That would be an awesome addition to the lineup. in the last several trades, the sox were able to get players where the other team pick up the tab. we can afford to pay for salary in a trade. clee is trade bait.

Absolutely. All Ponson is is an expensive version of our number 3..... possibly 4. No reason to over pay (KW is the GM) for an average to very slightly above average pitcher who will probably turn out to be the equivalent of Tim Belcher in '93. If we trade for Ponson, I'm talking 2 or 3 A level guys even we have never even heard of. so the bottom line is that people thinks we need another pitcher, right With no defined number 5 right now? It wouldn't hurt. But you don't need a number 5 if you make the playoffs. Hopefully, Porzio can give us 5 or 6 good innings through most of his outings so we don't have to overpay for a SP. Remember, Porzio has only started two games..... both against Cleveland. It will be interesting to see how he does against Tampa. great point on a 5 pitcher, but i think personally our need is in the rp.

so what was the real reason pk had a horrible first half, was it really bad technique or was he injured?

big frank lost what a yr pos 2 with his injury? when frank wasn't hurt and played like he used too, big frank was a better hitter. plain and simple.

just b/c some haven't been on a team that won it all, does not make them losers. this idea is "BS", you have teams that has no ring winner and doing well. ana, twins, kc. an experience player who has been around is good, a person who has leadership quality is good. that is the ingrident for a successful team good leadership and players who want to win, who will back each other up. not a player who is a "me" first person

Diaz vs Pacheco i want to know who you think has the better potential. this makes 2 trades last yr that may payoff. and yeah, when a trade make good, kw was lucky. how many trades suck?
