  1. i never said evans was perfect...i questioned that trade already..read my post above...but the shuey trade in no way destroyed the dodgers like the ritchie trade did the sox...and atleast evans has a legit excuse..he traded for shuey to help the dodgers win last year...put kenny williams in the same position the dodgers were in and he would trade mark buehrle for 3 prospects in A ball saying that 3 games out was too much to make up and the fans wernt showing up anyways...then his supporters would say what a great move..we got three guys that will all surpass buehrle i was sold on evans, however seeing him and what he did in la, i am in no way a backer of his anymore. dave dumbrowski was available but not now. i would invade the oak management team and get that new guy, billy beane new asst. the one that BA named and the most promising gm. what has evans done wrong that has everyone so down on him???...the dodgers havent been this good in over a decade.....he took over and with one move, sheffield for joran and perez, made them contenders...the 92 wins last year was the most for the dodgers since 91 when they won 93...they just got stuck in a real tough division..best baseball is on the west coast right now...it could have very well been the dodgers in the world series if they got in...how bad would evans look then??? some of his other trades has me scratching my head. i was of the impression that evans should have been the gm. he did everything he was suppose to do to earn that job.
  2. welcome aboard. there is no way that joe b will break st with us. that being said, if we can't get a great quality pit via trade or something, we should settle with rauch.
  3. Welcome aboard SFF............ we'd offer you a gift basket, but Redpinstripes ate it all. Then threw it up because he is a crazy drunk. did you lose any digits(fingers) with that.
  4. FINAllY, i am getting some respect here. welcome you are my new found friend.
  5. I agree. It's funny.. for a minute. But with all the attention going into personal attacks (and the stellar vocabulary ) makes ya just not to read because it seems like that's all that's going on. I'm not trying to be a jerk but if it makes you not want to read it then don't. I think it is a usefull resource. It helps new posters know what to expect. be that as it may, if we were getting any new posters, esp since the espn ad, this thread makes us look no better than mlb msg board. i mean no offense to anyone, everyone needs to vent and i did my share as well. can't we all be friends

  10. CHICAGO–Pitching has been the focus of four of the last five White Sox drafts. Thirty-eight of 57 players selected in the first 10 rounds were pitchers. While many top picks won’t pan out, such disappointment is often offset by lower-round bargains. It’s going to be hard to find a bigger one than Mark Buehrle, who was a 38th-round draft-and-follow in 1998, but the Sox have identified a couple of candidates in righthander Brian Miller and lefthander Daniel Haigwood. Miller, 20, won a team-high seven games and compiled a 4.30 ERA to help Rookie-level Bristol win the Appalachian League title. He added velocity on his fastball, jumping into the mid-90s, and improved his change–a plus pitch for him at Charlotte (Mich.) High. He had wild streaks but didn’t often beat himself. "He’s as good as any young pitcher we have," farm director Bob Fontaine said. "He’s got power stuff. He went out in the Appalachian League and dominated some people." Miller’s also tough. Scouting director Doug Laumann says when Fontaine went to see Miller pitch before the 2001 draft, Miller knocked himself unconscious in a collision with a post. A few minutes later he was back on the mound. The Sox landed Miller with a 20th-round pick. He had been Michigan’s top high school pitcher but slid because of his asking price and a commitment to Michigan State. Haigwood, 19, won a team-high eight games for the Rookie-level Arizona League squad. He had a 2.28 ERA and a strikeout-walk ratio of almost 3-1. "He knows how to pitch," Fontaine said. Haigwood went 43-1 at Midland High in Pleasant Plains, Ark. He had never lost before the semifinals of the 2002 state tournament. Laumann says Haigwood’s fastball looked like 90 mph to him because of natural deception, though it was usually clocked in the mid-80s. "He was overpowering guys with an 85-86 mile an hour fastball," Laumann said. "A lot of times we scouts just fill out the gun readings. But as the season progressed he was consistently 87-89, and he’s still got great deception."
  11. argghhh i just looked thru BA and found nothing. i really hate you now.
  12. oh you are a evil so and so. telling me a name i am not sure off right before i go to bed. now i have to look him up. f***.
  13. only you would point this out. gee thanks. where is kander(sp) and his opinion of you, i need some words to throw at you. yeah i was hoping for more of a positive report esp on the prospects. to say that i was a bit disappointed would be like saying that kw was really happy with ritchie pitching performance last yr.
  14. after rereading this reporters report on out farm and prospects, does anyone beside me think he is off his rocker? cmon, we have a hell of alot more players who will help?
  15. Glover has a 1.21 ERA working out of the pen. That was in limited time, however. Regardless...that's incredible. That also tells me how bad he sucked as a starter, considering his ERA was around 4.50 or so for the year. i agree that he make a better rp then he does as a starter.
  16. Agreed....the prospects make or break this deal and that is why i am concerned and stoke about this trade. this kid cotts is very intriguing and hopes that he pans out. a very promising # 2 or at worst a 3 pit. but on the other hand, valentin being a another koch is also intriguing.
  17. i will go with you on this and as you said a wash. its the prospect that has me on this trade.
  18. what happens if nunez is capable of playing cf, should we still need to address this?
  19. It seems like this never gets done, though he should....I think this trade happened about 2 months ago. Anyways....breaking it down, it looks like this... Koch for Foulke - wash....Foulke was probably gone after this year, Koch will be with us 3 years....regardless of the stats they put up....however, we'll probably end up paying Koch more than we would have ended up paying Foulke....which is the reason it is a wash. MJ for Daylon Holt - wash....it is hard to say which team got the better end of this deal....with the trading of MJ, we then signed Alomar and Olivo became the #1 catcher for us....which isn't a bad thing....but it does leave us weak at the catcher position. Had we kept MJ, we could have had Olivo start the year in AAA and then as soon as Sandy got hurt, have Miguel come up and possibly take the starting duties. Regardless, MJ is not an incredible catcher, though he is a good backup...and Daylon Holt will probably put up decent numbers off the bench for us someday....maybe .275 10 40....something like that....I'd take that and that would be good from off the bench. Cotts for Valentine - wash.....Valentine was a great pitcher in the minor leagues and will probably be a great pitcher in the majors as well....however, when we were dealing him, KW realized that he was dealing from a strength, though the pitcher he was trading may have been the best relief pitcher in our system...regardless, we still have plenty of minor league relief talent, and we got a lefty with good stuff in Cotts who could be a good starter someday....and the fact that he's from ISU makes it quite special. From the looks of it, I'd say the deal is a complete wash...which is why I said, at best, it is a wash, and at worst, it is a wash...because quite simply, this deal was a wash....we traded a closer for a closer and in the end that was the bulk of the deal....regardless of the stats. ok i will accept your reasoning, but here is mine. koch performance during the playoff continues. do we really have him for 3 yrs now? cat and mj vs d holt who cares, but as you said its a wash and i will agree with you on this. valentin vs cotts is where it get tough for me. joe v potential is great and i think is worth more than some may think. however, cotts potential is where the chips fall on. if he develops as expected then its a wash or more in our favor, if he does not develop then we got screwed in the trade. i am basing this on the prospect that came with the trade and not that much with koch vs foulke.

He Blew his knee out........ he's either out the season.......or two weeks. This guy is amazing, I pray to god he's all right. He has all the makings of one helluva pucker. I've heard he plays alot like Peter Forsberg... before he was drafted, he had a knee injury/surgery. was it the same knee or is it another one?

  22. does this mean that if given a chance, will he sign an extension with the sox or leave for stl?
  23. the thing about the koch vs foulke for me is, was it really a trade that needed to be done. i am a foulke fan but if koch is better then so be it, if not i sure hope that cotts pans out. if not we got screwed again.
  24. do you have a an inside connection witht the front office?
