  1. Sandy Alomar, Jr. Trade-Neutral>>>>>>>. we got him back and got a prospect to boot. however signing him as a fa cost us a 1 rounder and that i can't say that was a positive. this should be a dual statement. The Rockies didn't offer him arbitration, so the Sox will not have to give up a draft choice based upon signing him. i meant the first sign of sandy where we had to give up a 1 rounder to cle for signing him.
  2. too true except that the sCrubs were one of a few teams that could deal with boras. now that they got screwed with the demands of boras, (4 mil per where players at his pick were getting 1.2 or 1.7 mil) maybe now some of the new prospect/players will get a different agent.

i am going to play the devils advocate here. a contract is a contract, where does it say that a contract has to be redone. for one person benefit? if that is the case, why hasn't some of the players who gotten a rich contract and then went into a slump, turn around and said, "pls redo my contract so i can give you your money back." if a contract is redone, then it should be as a 2 way contract or for lack of better words a big contract with a base and huge in incentives. This is hardly a fairly negotiated contract situation. Management holds all the leverage due to Buerhle's lack of service time. Like last season, KW offered Mark "X" amount of money. Mark turned it down. So, KW uses his leverage and forces Mark to play for $15000 less than he had previously turned down. Of course, eventually, the shoe is going to be on the other foot. When that happens, Mark will sound a lot like HSC when he says :fyou KW! on the same note, do you see the players rushing to redo their contract when they have had a horrible yr?
  4. their first rounder brownie (sp) said no and enrolled into school. boras was such a great friend of the sCrubs. lol
  5. this board most of the time has lively talk, new subjects and i feel a better tone of conversation going on most thread. whereas other boards has the same old tired talk and conversation. i get tired reading that dribble. i sometime go over there to read certain posters. they do have some great people whose loyalty is somewhat misplace................... but oh well. keep this up people!!!!!!!

  7. did we ever get that berry or barry??? i dont recall anything about him... well except that kw couldnt figure out how to spell it...........i think we got robbed......... he played the rest of that season for charlotte...then the sox sold his contract to a japanese team ahhh so we have squat to show for another blockbuster trade that kw has made.
  8. its not that he is driving the core away, its that he is trading those who has the guts to disagree with him.
  9. bulls*** to the opinion on KW. and get off of HSC on this. I thought she was riding KW hard until I uncovered what KW did to Buehrle and how KW lied to us. I went from being very neutral towards KW to detesting him. Dress it up anyway you want, to offer Mark Buehrle the same offer as last year - when the league minimum went up $100,000 - is a calculated insult to the pitcher we need for this season and seasons to come for the WS to be a winner and a consistent winner. That is not bettering the team, that is f***ing over what he supposedly is trying to build. That is not trying and that is not improving. We get Colon for one year and in the process drive MB away and lose Colon and we will be in such a bad situation we will be looking up at KC and Detroit. Even if we kep Colon and lose MB, what have we gained? What we will have lost is MB, Mr. Consistency. For what KW is doing to MB, he is "that bad." if you go to soxfest, make sure you tell him this, but in a nicer way.
  10. Well, the writer of the article seems to think another bullpen guy will be signed. I highly doubt the Expos will move Vasquez. My guess is a Suppan or maybe I-Rod, but I doubt that. mont needs to move some one to cut down the payroll, so why not the idea of vasquez moving.
  11. I was about to come on and tell you how doubtful I was about this but now I think it might happen. Heres my theory: -KW signed Alomar with the foresight that he was gonna get Colon but if he didnt get Colon Alomars still cheap. But hes too injury riddled to to be a fulltime catcher anymore. -When KW got Colon he knew that Alomar would only catch Colon and that hed sign IRod to catch the rest. But whatever happens, I think Alomars only going to catch Colon and IRod or Olivo will do the rest... i rod in a sox, that may be nice, but why sign sandy? i highly doubt it.
  12. vasquez........... yes. i hope
  13. No I don't recall that, but I'm not making fun of you. You just want to see the team do more. i wasn't mad or anything, i just can't see how other teams would get things done and we, the sox looks as we are standing still. one of the posters mention that hermanson has a history of getting hurt, i agree. but still he is still worth a shot. i am officially saying now, we should see what it would take to get some sfo pitchers here as well as j vasquez from mont.

I'd move his myself but not this season. I'd see what kind of year he has, and how far the team gets. No, I don't think he would be traded if he came out and said the offer was the same as last year. I'm sure someone will ask him at SoxFest. and ask kw if that is true as well.
  15. do you not remember me talking about hermanson before xmas and right when the fa's can talk to anyone. i have been a big fan of him and person. in that article i was saying that we could've pursue williamson before he resign.

if anyone from the mark b camp refutes this, do you honestly think that mark b would not be traded.

    Jose Cruz

great that is why i recanted on what i wrote, but that doesn't mean we can't go out and get him. a battle of rowand and cruz for the starting job will look great. this past winter showed that maybe joey B needs another yr in the minors. but imagine if cruz comes on and develops, that will make c lee tradeable.
  18. i had a huge discussion going on hermson prob before you came aboard. i kept bringing up why we should go and get him and person. the feedback was great and lively. maybe that is why no one talked about it again when you posted it. i am or was getting hermanson and person, however i am seconding guessing myself on person. watch hermanson is going to have a huge yr.
  19. a great article. nice job yansy.

    Interesting

trying to look up somemore info on neal cotts, the player we got from oak, i came across some interestin info on the BA site. according to the oak chat with moderator, Casey Tefertiller. he said that neal has an excellant chance of becoming a real good middle of the rotatioon pitcher. he would hace ranked him at #10 in the prospect list and he only saw class A playing time. his future looks bright. joe valentin is ranked #7 and has the tools in becoming a force as a rp. oak will recieve a comp pick for losing durham. the other player picked up, according to the oak team rep, may have peaked. taking a long time to get out of class A.
  21. White Sox - Josh Stewart (P) wasn't the most heralded prospect coming into the fall season. But he finished the year as one of the AFL's top performers, capping his year with a victory in the league championship game. Stewart tallied a 0.81 ERA and a sparkling 23-9 K/BB ratio. Like his AFL roommate, Dave Sanders, the 24-year-old southpaw pitched most of the past two seasons in AA ... Dave Sanders (P) pitched as well out of the bullpen as any other reliever in the AFL, not giving up an earned run until late in the season. He finished with a 0.75 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP, giving up only seven walks in 24 IPs. He also tied for the league lead with six victories. The 23-year-old left-hander's strong suit is his command, especially of his breaking ball. After two straight years in AA, it's time for Sanders to jump to AAA next year ... Tim Hummel (2B/SS) isn't a toolsy, stud prospect, but the 24-year-old right-handed hitter is a fundamentally-sound player with solid baseball instincts. His 10-18 K/BB ratio is most impressive. Hummel didn't hit for much power in the AFL, but his overall offensive numbers are decent (.303/.422/.360). He could have a long career as a utility player and occasional starter ... Jon Adkins (P) was acquired from Oakland in the Ray Durham trade. He pitched much better in AAA after moving to the White Sox organization, probably benefiting most from a move out of the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. The 25-year-old right-hander is a soft-tossing control pitcher. He got hit hard in the AFL (.349 OBA), but walked only seven batters in 36 IPs. There are plenty of better pitchers ahead of him in the Chicago system, so a return to AAA is likely ... Lefty Gary Majewski (P) pitched well enough in the AFL (1.96 ERA, .235 OBA) that he was grabbed by Toronto in the Rule 5 draft. He pitched the 2002 season in Class AA. Soon to be 23, he will contend for a position in the Blue Jay bullpen ... Joe Valentine (P), expected to be one of the league's top closers, managed only three innings before leaving the AFL. He was subsequently traded to the Oakland A's. interesting opinion on joe valetine.
  22. sign with stl mon according to usa today and for 500k with another 500 k in bonuses. cmon, this pitcher is a good pit with lousy luck in the health department. but for 1 mil, it would have been great to see him in a sox uni.
  23. who is the better pitcher, colon or mark? i say its too close to judge.
  24. and yet some says that kw is a good gm.
