Mario and I are about the only ones who will still support that Clayton deal. In retrospect it was a terrible move, and KW admitted it. Royce's temper meshed, but HE wasn't why the Sox sucked the last two years. People can use him as the scapegoat, but there were more serious reasons for why the Sox lost. K-layton wasn't THE reason but his attitude and his non-existent first-half bat certainly didn't help matters. i say its more like a domino effect with clayton starting it.

As far as your post. I love the idea of getting Palmerio and Pudge and calling it quits. One thing, if I recall Rios signed his deal for like 300 k or something along those lines and as far as Flash goes, look for a mill, maybe some incentives that could bring it to 1.5 mill. Remember, since the Sox were never obligated to these players, they can offer them any % of a pay cut. Those terms only apply if you offer a player arbitration or something along those lines. Don't quote me on this though..I ain't a rules expert. when is the draft? i would wait until the draft is over and then go out and get some other fa's. Draft isn't till like June or something like that. damn, so much for my idea.

maybe that was why i couldn't log in this morning for about 1 hr.

i feel the same way as hsc, they are just throwing a bone to kw for job security. Who cares? The deal got done and it was to our advantage..... atleast for 2003. I'm one of KW's biggest detractors but I give him credit for this one. And big deal if Cashman was the architect. We got a potential 20 game winner in Colon and gave up practically nothing..... no Maggs, no Konerko, no Crede, and no C Lee. I'd like to know how this deal could be bad for us from the people that are so against it. good point.

I won't say I supported the Clayton deal, because I was more than happy with Jose at short after the 2000 season.... but Clayton did do what he was acquired to do. Solidify the defense at SS. i diagree with you, clayton was acquired so kw could use him in a another trade. he has said it several times. he was not meant to stay with the team.

i am more optimist this yr than i have been in the last several yrs. most importantly my cudos to kw for getting this done. however, i statement is don't sit on your lures, but go out and get vazquez if he is available.
-
oh i am not blaming him for the sox woes, its that he was a cancer and help in the club house feelings. which help to have a lack luster attitude in the field. mayette was a bust and i will agree with that, remember kw said he traded for clayton to trade him again, which no-one wanted. if he was this all great ss, then why would tex just wanted mayette instead of asking for the farm? in addition with him on the team, the lineup and all that was jack around. furthermore, if he is still this great defensive ss that we desperate need, then why didn't kw resign him?

what are your list of holes that needs addressing beside the cat. lol well start off at catcher........and we will just go around the horn.......1st is ok with paulie and frank backup.. but what do we do with 2nd? and who the hell goes there or do they just platoon between there and ss??? and what about a back up at 3rd??? hell lf .. do we really trust another season with lee out there.. i know i dont... and what about cf.. sure rowand will be ready but whos going to go out there when he crashes into a wall making a catch and breaks his shoulder??? and what about maggs back and wrist problems.. if they flare up who goes out to rf??? not to mention that our pitching still has holes which need to be filled...... i mean geez what have we really acomplished in the past two seasons besides attempt to rebuild without no foundation................can you give me one solid and a solid backup at any position other than 1st????? nope.........so from where i sit we actually need a whole team of something..........dont we.......... i have a good feeling of our infielders. the only prob is harris, inability to hit worth a lick. in the outfield, mags is mags and i am sure he will come back from his writst injury. cf is where we truly need some help, and c lee, i wonder which lee is going to show up? cat, i will go with what we have, since we have nothing better. the key to this is big frank, i hope the big frank of the 90's shows up. with colon, it makes the pitching situation very interesting.

i honestly think that we should make a run at getting him in a sox uni.
-
i wish rocky the best. he was always a good guy.
-
maybe a 2nd round pick, but the Sox's pick 15th in the 1st round giving them protection from draft pick composition. where did you find the list of fa? i been looking for it.
-
even if we did option him, he is still ours and is recovering from an ijury.
-
i dont know what did i say last nite?????lol i dont remember that far back...... you mean you don't remember all that sweet things you whispered in my ear? i am heart broken.
-
if barcelo is healty and can pitch like he use too, he is all that we need.
-
oh come on now, oliva hasn't done anything to warrant what you gave him, esp if he can't cork up his bat. the man can't hit. clayton is an even deal. now you loose what ever opinion i have of you as a baseball knowledge person.
-
every dog has its day and right now, kw did good.

ha .. he will probably play like s*** and the sox will then resign him ......thinking they have something special.... i remember ritchie....and we almost got stuck with him again.......lmao hey hsc, i have an idea for your new logo, how bout a picture of kw shaking hands with colon.
-
Yeah his 8-2 record and 3.86 ERA blew ass last year. Thank god he is gone. kenny williams will get my appreciation when he improves on the team he inherited...that means atleast back to back division titles and advancement in the playoffs...with the team , payroll and minor league system he inherited , it should have been a cake walk to owning this division... as much as i like this trade..if we dont sign colon to a long term deal this is real only a one time shot at a world series and does nothing to improve the team for years to come.... id call this step one on a long road to recovery i agree, kw and jr needs to resign this guy.
